Had a Geek Squad person to the house - Jared G - VERY knowledgeable. He let me know that this "Universal" remote would NOT actually be able to interact with my older (2009) Phillips DVD / VCR player.

Need to try many times. Technical support is also very poor rather directing for procedures they just ask to visit websites where required information is not available. Not recommend
