    T-2 On Blu-Ray

    Posted
    Blindspot

When my girlfriend got me this for Christmas, the first thing that went through my head was 'alright- T2 on Bluray!' After less than an hour into the movie though, my feelings had changed. Don't get me wrong- this is still one of the most awesome movies of all time, but after seeing the extended edition on DVD, I was disappointed to see all those deleted scenes left out of the movie all over again! I really thought that would at least be an option, given the capacity Bluray disks, but I guess not! I mean, when you pick up new copies of Aliens, its still got that extra 27 min of footage in there- its just a staple anymore! Why they would choose to do this to T2's Bluray debut is beyond me!? Left out footage aside, I can agree that while this may be an older movie, there was still some left to be desired on the conversion to high-def. I won't say it looks as bad as DVD, but it certainly doesn't look as good as, say CRANK or something more recent. Even if you don't already have a copy of Terminator 2, I'd say go ahead and wait for the extended version- it will be money better spent!

This review is for the Endo Arm

Received this today but my review is more about the collectible End Arm that comes with the 4K movie. Okay so the collectible piece does look nice; However, the Terminator arm while it looks nice it is made out of very cheap plastic. For the price I was hoping they would have done a higher grade of plastic like a hard premium PVC but no. As a display piece it is fine but in hand it really comes off very cheaply made. And the James Camron signature is of course a printed copy of his signature printed on a sticker under neath the base. I say overall this could have been easily prices for maybe about 60 to 80.00 but not much more. This is going back to the store just cannot justify the 134+ tax for it- even with the movies that are included.

I bought this on August 29th because it was Judgment Day and I wanted to get Terminator 2 in hi-def. It had a list of extras on the back, but I admit I did not read them thoroughly in the store. It includes the theatrical and special editions, but does not have as an option the two extra scenes from the special edition DVD (the alternate future and the T1000 in John's room). It looks good, but be warned, this is not a comprehensive T2 package. Also, I had difficulty in redeeming the digital copy: It only gave me standard definition until I emailed customer service at my digital video retailer of choice. In short, there are a few T2 blu ray releases. Do some homework before deciding which one is right for you.

Im going to be very fair to this title because I believe its a little better than a lot of the negative reviews surrounding this transfer in regards specifically to the usage or over usage of dnr (digital noise reduction) which in result wipes the entire image of picture grain. There was also some tinkering done in the color timing giving the entire image more of a teal tone. On the plus side the image is brighter, sharper and well contrasted resulting in an overall more pleasing image. Great movie, good transfer. Recommended for the $10-$12 price tag

    Another T2 release

Another T2 release. Being a huge T2 fan I was a bit dissappointed with this being a bar bones release. Its low price makes it worth it simply for the Picture Quality & Sound (but for a full out, amazing compilation I went with the HD DVD Steelbook Import.) James Cameron insisted on using Super35 process which has some advantages, but leaves the picture with much more "Grain" which is apparent on this and all T2 releases. But for $15 this should be in every ones Blu-Ray collection until Lionsgate releases the Ultimate Blu-Ray compilation which y ou can bet will be released one day. If you have a HD DVD player too though, get the T2 steelbook import.

So, T2 will live on as one of the best action/sci-fi movies of all time (in my opinion). James Cameron nailed it with this movie. The opportunity to see it in 4k was too much to pass up and, while it looks amazing, there are a couple of issues. The sound balance is skewed and harder to hear during quieter scenes (people talking for example). Additionally, only the theatrical version of the film was converted to 4k. The other two versions of the film are Blu-ray only. Wish I had known that going in. Still a great movie overall, though.

This is a very contentious 4K release. The image is not representative of what the film has always looked like. It's been scrubbed clean of grain and appears as if it were shot on modern video. BUT, the detail and clarity is quite impressive. It looks like a film that was made last year: shot on 8K, finished on 4K and released as such. I'm not sure where I stand, as the revisionism is not what I prefer, but the image is nonetheless stellar. I recommend, but barely.

    T2 in high def

Having Terminator 2 in High Definition is really the only reason to buy this disc. It is easily affordable for anyone looking to add a title to their blu-ray library. The problem is that this disc is missing all of the extras that were found on the previous DVD releases of the film and doesn't have either of the other versions of the film which were even available on VHS. You can't go wrong for the price, though, but you get what you pay for with this one which is not much.

    Repackaging of 3D release.

The 4k and HDR are nice. If you don't have the film in any other format then it's worth it. The special features are just a repackaging of the bluray released a few years ago and the film itself is the same one as the 3D release last year (they didn't even bother remvoing the 3d title card from the beginning).

Color editing is unnatural. When Cameron releases a directors cut like Aliens, the movie looks like its only 5 years old. Speaking of, this is also not the directors cut with the deleted scenes. I'll settle for the cheap blu until Cameron's director's cut in the next 25 years.

This movie does not have Atmos, which was a terrible disappointment considering the 2017 3D theater release had an Atmos soundtrack. The 4K image may not be to some peoples liking as it has had the grain heavily reduced.

    Dip number 1 on 4k for T2

This is the first of many releases for this title i'm sure. It has its moments in 4k glory but its inconsistent. Maybe the next remastering (Dip 2) will fix some of these director approved video issues this release has.

Bought this because I'm a huge Terminator fan.. Should have just stuck with Blu-ray. There's so much dnr on this 4k transfer everyone looks like they belong in a wax museum. Still good movie but just bad transfer

Rating is not for the movie itself, but the 4k quality. I didn't notice much a benefit from watching it versus a regular Blu-ray. Price was good, so its worth getting it if prices are about equal

I was very excited to have a Blu ray version of T2 bc I already had the DVD version...to my disappointment, the Blu ray wasn't all it cracked out to be... quality was a little better than DVD but not the superb quality you would expect from 1080p.

The reviews you've previously read are correct. The film transfer suffers to much DNR. However I believe it is still better than the blu ray version. Still a must own disc for any Terminator fan.

Most have this title on BLU-Ray or DVD and there is no extras here then what you've already seen. 4k Quality is the same as Blu-Ray, again nothing extra here either. wait for it to be on Sale.

Somewhat disappointed with the steelbook as there’s no art work on the inside cover. Aside from that, helps me add to my collection.

The scenes that are good are great the scenes that are bad are horrible. This is a poor 4K transfer and unless on sale for cheap, should be avoided.
