    Great Family Friendly Experience

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.

I purchased this dvd for my 3 year old as his 'excellent at potty training' present. First off, the dvd arrived much earlier than the stated 'receive by' date. It also arrived in perfect condition, case and dvd wise. Second, the movie itself was much more vibrant and colorful than I remember this episode being when we watched it online. This movie is a great family friendly movie, as well as for young ones to watch themselves! It has alot of singing and dancing, alot of lessons about teamwork, empathy, nature/science questions and answers... Overall, this is definitely a fun educational video that it engages both children and adults alike. I will continue to purchase from Bestbuy for not only their new product (as opposed to used...) prices, but also because of their speedy delivery times and vast product options.

Crazy Halloween Ride with the Iconic Cat in the Ha

    Posted .

The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Halloween is a wonderful Halloween movie for children. The theme is about facing your fears because they are not as big as you think. That is what is interesting about the film. The storyline is about two kids named Nick and Sally who need to find the perfect Halloween costume. They find the Cat in the Hat and he tells them about a closet that has all the best costumes. They go on the hunt for the perfect costume and face their fears on the way. The characters are very unique, creative and beautifully animated. Some of them are astonishing. I love the wacky and crazy lady who owns all the costumes. She’s very helpful to the kids as she helps them find the perfect costume. I love how she dances with the Cat in the Hat. She is a fun, energetic, loving character that children will love. The Fish that follows The Cat in the Hat on his journeys is also hilarious! I love how he tries to scare The Cat in the Hat but he is so oblivious about his fear of pumpkins. The animation is close to the Cat in the Hat books. The storyline is identical to the books, which doesn’t always happen when you make a book into a movie. There are some movies that do not look anything like the original book. The voice acting is applaud-able. I love how Martin Short’s (The Cat in the Hat) voice is exactly how I imagine the Cat in the Hat would sound. I love how he sounds whimsical and kooky. I also adore the voice actors of Sally and Nick. I love how they make their voices so perfectly childlike. The message of this film is to get over your fears because they are not as big as you think. It teaches kids that you can get over your fear whether it’s a small fear of ghosts or a big fear like stage fright. All of the main characters get over fears that they couldn’t get over before. The Cat in the Hat gives great advice - the fears you have are not bigger than you think. This is a great lesson for kids that have fears that they cannot get over. I rate this film 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to ages 5 to 9. Reviewed by Carla P.., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. For more reviews by youth, visit kidsfirst dot org.

Vibrant images, funny terminology, catchy music

    Posted .

I truly enjoyed this DVD. Its constant action, vibrant images, funny terminology and catchy music definitely is entertaining. It is a fun film to watch as a family, filled with an adventurous journey to find Halloween costumes. The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Halloween is an animated film about Nick and Sally who wait until the very last minute, Halloween Day, to get their costumes. The Cat (Martin Short) takes them on a journey full of excitement to find their Halloween costumes in the Oooky-ma-kooky Closet. They must travel through many spooky places to find this special closet. They trek through scary caves and an eerie tree forest. They encounter howlers, shockers and scary fandangles. They even find out The Cat doesn’t like pumpkin patches. The greatest feature of this film is its colorful animation. The visual appeal attracts viewers and pulls them in with fun, happy and cheerful characters. My favorite character is definitely The Cat. His optimism and imaginative ideas make you want to see where he’s going to take the kids next. My favorite part of this film is when they get to go to the Oooky-ma-kooky Closet and try on various costumes as pirates, cowgirls and animals. The song that accompanies this scene, “What Will You Be?” stayed in my head for a long time afterwards. This is my favorite episode because I love playing dress up and this scene is right up my alley. I give this film 4 out of 5 stars because the film is great, but not for my age range. I recommend this film for children ages 3 to 7 because of the youngish scenarios. It’s a feel-good movie that will give young viewers a fun friendly Halloween movie that’s not too scary. It is available on DVD now so go check it out. By Linda D., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. For more reviews by youth go to kidsfirst dot org
