    Massive world...portable fun!

Ok, let me start by saying that I am completely new to the world of Skyrim but after playing for several hours let me just say that I can see why this game had earned the all the kudos and accolades it did waay back in 2011. This marks the sixth console on which this game has appeared on, and while some aspects are beginning to show its age, its still every bit the awesome game that it was all those years ago. Graphically this stands toe to toe with the PS3 or XBOX 360 versions, albeit with some sacrifices on draw distance and things popping up far away. The framerate is solid and while I haven't got to the big action pieces yet, what I have seen is impressive. Even more so given that until now, this game has never been on a portable system. The DLC that came out after the games' release, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, is all there too making this package even more worthwhile. There are no 'mods' (adjustments to the game made by fans) on it, so you can only play the game proper (sorry Thomas the Tank Engine fans), but again it is an absolute revelation that it plays and looks as well as it does on the not-as-powerful Nintendo Switch. New to the Switch version is motion controls and amiibo functionality. The motion controls you may or may not like but they are done fairly well-especially if you go the archer route. The amiibos give you treasure chests, but only once every 24 hours. A cool addition is that you can get Zelda exclusives, including the Hylian Shield, BOTW Tunic, and...The Master Sword!!!-when you use zelda based amiibo. Its random but they occur fairly often. Don't worry if you don't have Zelda amiibo, these Switch exclusives occur in game at some point as well. Playing this I realize that Breath of the Wild got a lot of inspiration from the gameplay of Skyrim. The bottom line: If you have never played Skyrim this is a must buy! If you have never experienced Skyrim before think Breath of the Wild meets Game of Thrones. There is alot to learn and not a lot of hand holding but its a 5 star game. If you owned this and played it already then I cant say this version justifies revisiting Skyrim once again as $60 is a lot for a 6 year old game. That it is portable now may entice those who played to shell out another $60 for the ability to drop in on the inhabitants of Tamriel once again.

Skyrim on Switch is still an amazing game. Everything from the previous console versions is here. If you've never played Skyrim, this version holds its own even against the remastered versions for other current consoles. While it may not look nearly as good (although still better than the original version), the fact that you can play it anywhere makes up for it. If you already played Skyrim, but haven't touched it since it originally came out, it's worth a revisit, especially if you're a fan. I'm currently about 60 hours in and just can't stop playing. I'm either finishing up a quest, or simply exploring a cave a ruin I stumbled across. It's also been fun going back through the game playing a completely different class than before. I only have a few complaints. One is, when playing in handheld mode, the game is a little too dark, even with the brightness turned all the way up. It's not that bad when exploring the wilderness, but since so much time is spent caves and castles, it can be difficult to notice everything. Also, the text, whether menu or subtitles, is hard to read. Not only because it is small, but because of the brightness issue. When playing in console mode, this obviously is not a problem. My only other complaint is the price. $60 for a six year old game is quite a bit steep. Especially since the enhanced remaster versions for the XBOne and PS4 can be found new for half the price. It really feels like Nintendo fans are getting gouged. This is also the reason I can't give it 5 stars. I managed to find it on sale at a different store and Best Buy price matched. If this is something you've been interested in or something you've wanted to return to, I highly recommend it, only add that you wait until you see a price drop or sale.

Lets get a few things out of the way... Yes, this is a six year old game. Yes, the graphics are a bit dated by current standards. Yes, you probably purchased this on one or more platforms in the past. All that being said, this is Skyrim on a handheld system. That is a testament to how fast technology has advanced in just six short years. It runs remarkably well. It looks great on the handheld screen at 720, and looks fine docked at 1080p. As good as a current PC, PS4 or Xbox? No. Does that matter? No. I know everyone likes to compare specs these days. But if specs are your top priority, you probably shouldn't own a Switch. You can now play a game that just 5-6 years ago required a high end gaming PC. A remarkable achievement. Overall, this review isn't about the specifics of the game. There are hundreds of reviews going back years if you want those. This version doesn't have mods but that is ok. This is to introduce those who never took the time to play Skyrim and enjoy it in portable form. Highly Recommended. Lets hope Morrowind and Oblivion are not far behind.

This game has been high on my list of upcoming Switch games to play due to the fact that I have never had a chance to play it previously. I am happy to report that it delivers in every aspect. The game play is smooth, combat is fun, and the scenery is breathtaking. Although some might complain about the lack of mods or creation club support, I'm able to enjoy the game perfectly fine and as it was intended to be played so I don't see those two aspects as really deterrents. I love going on these long, epic adventures and I'm sure to be playing this for a very good while. My only complaint is that I have read in other reviews that as you progress further along in the game and store a lot of items in chests that it does suffer from some lag, but I believe that is a common problem also found in other versions of the game as well. An easy fix is to use the chest in Whiterun which apparently does not suffer from this bug, and to use as little save files as possible (or to make a new save file every once in a while and delete your older ones.) I hope everyone (of age) gets to try this game at least once, the portability factor of this version makes it the most easy to access in my opinion, and it's worth playing through if you enjoy high levels of fantasy and action.

Skyrim has been out for years (and had already been ported to numerous other systems in the past) and yet I still get the itch to start a new character every now and then. When I heard it was coming out for the Switch, I knew I had to pick up this version because the idea of being able to play it on the go really resonated with me. This version includes the base game + the 3 previously-released DLC. Now, the reason I only give this particular version 3 stars is due to a couple things. First, the game is VERY dark. It becomes extremely hard to see anything in certain environments such as caves and there is no in-game gamma slider you can adjust to your liking. Second, the loading times can become awfully long (especially when you first load up the game), which really shouldn't be an issue on this gen's hardware. Other than these two things, I haven't really noticed anything of concern. Skyrim is a classic game which I've put hundreds of hours into, and the only reason I would recommend this version over any other is for the Switch's portability.

Skyrim was amazing when it came out in 2011 and though it is starting to show some age, the game is still incredibly immersive. Nintendo gave us a polished, open-world masterpiece that only Nintendo could with Breath of the Wild earlier this year. In comparison, Skyrim's moment-to-moment gameplay is much rougher around the edges. But while Breath of the Wild's Hyrule feels intentionally, well, wild, Skyrim feels lived-in. If you want an open world filled with dozens of meaty sidequests, lively towns populated with NPCs, and deep lore, then Skyrim offers a different kind of immersion that Zelda does not. It is a different kind of masterpiece in world-building and still holds up well today. If you are a Nintendo-only gamer that has never played it, I assure you it is worth your time! If you have played it before, only you can decide how much the portability of the Switch matters to you. To me, it's a no-brainer. After a few years away, the Switch got me to go back to Skyrim. Now that I can take it anywhere, I might never leave.

The reason I'm giving this review 4 stars is because of the excellent customer service I received when I went to purchase this game for my Nintendo Switch. I went in to price match with Amazon for a lower total and came out with an even lower total due to a price with Gamestop at the time which was found by the cashier. The game itself is nothing special. Once you've played Skyrim on another platform, having it on the Switch does not make it any better. Sure, the amiibo functionality is cool, but it is definitely not necessary to enjoy the game. In short, if you've already played Skyrim on another platform, don't waste your time on the Switch port. If you've never played Skyrim and enjoy open-world games, go ahead and give it a shot.

This is my first time playing Skyrim and I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. This game is massive, there is an abundance of content for the player to go through. This game is an RPG, which allows you to create your own character and presents several choices for you during gameplay. Its unique that no two players will experience the game the same way, I am sure on my next playthrough I will play differently. This game has great performance on the Switch. I've played about 20 hours so far and I there hasn't been any frame issues or weird glitches. The only thing I've noticed was some weird audio glitch that has occurred twice. I was exploring White Run when some garbled distorted sounds came blasting from my speakers which lasted for about 1-2 seconds. Besides those minor glitches, eveyrthing is great thus far. If you love adventure games and have an urge to play a deep game I highly recommend adding Skyrim to your Switch collection.

Skyrim on the go is a bit surreal. Elder Scrolls games are usually when I upgrade to a fancy new PC to handle some of the most impressive visuals in a generation. Now one is running on a tablet, and it looks better than it did on consoles just a few years ago. And not only can you take Skyrim in your pocket, you can sleep it, set it down, and hop right back into the game in no time at all. If you've never experienced Skyrim, you could do worse than buying this version. Maybe you loved Skyrim but never returned to play the expansions. Or maybe you played it to death but still want to be able to have it with you wherever you go. You'll get your money's worth with an Elder Scrolls game.

OK, I'm not going to review the actual game since it's more than 6 years since it came out. I will, however, talk about my experience playing it on the Switch, having already played it originally on the PS3 and then on PC with all mods active. Graphically, of course, it will not even come close to the PS4, XboxOne and PC. It is almost closer to the Xbox 360 version with some washed out colors and blurry graphics. This is more noticeable if you are playing it on the TV. However, what makes this an outstanding port is the ability to play it anywhere on the Switch. I am putting more time into it now off-cradle than back when it was on PC. I had to travel and enjoyed the experience tremendously. I am even going for full completion -even with all the additional content! If you have a Switch and you are a fan of Skyrim, or never had the chance to play it before, I would highly recommend this iteration!

This game scored highly on the other systems it was released on. It was an instant success. The Switch version is more of the same. It looks great and plays well with no slowdown that I've encountered in my playtime. I enjoy the motion controls, and they respond well, but I still prefer to play with a standard Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The graphics hold up well to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, not quite as good, but still pretty close. One thing this version has that the others do not, is the Amiibo inclusion. Just tap an Amiibo to your Switch/Controller and you'll get a Treasure Chest with something inside. Sometimes it's equipment, other times just crafting supplies. It's a nice addition to the game. If you've already played and beaten the game, there really is not much to come back for, but either way it is still a great addition to the growing Switch library!.

Game has a unique start in that you do not create your character right away, but have to watch a starting scene play out first. Then after you create one, you are thrown straight into the fire. Once you are allowed to go off on your own, it calms down a little. Even though this game has been out for a while, this port to the Switch platform adds to the game play. It is best to use the Joycons individually and not with any joining grips. The reason for this is the game takes advantage to the motion control of each Joycon separately. The ability to switch between first and third person perspective while playing give you a chance to look around more easily if you lose sight of objective. This is the first game I have played that has this ability. It is sightly problematic when you perspective changes while you are mashing away in a battle.

The game is what it is and has been for awhile now. I never really played on any other platform only because I just could not get into it. On the switch it gave me an opportunity to play when I normally wouldn't be able to and that helped me to get time in on the game. The game looks good on the Switch and it still astounds me that you have so many people that don't have a Switch writing reviews saying how bad it looks because it isn't in 4k and 10000fps, but will tout games with horrible graphics because they have great game play. If you have played this on any other console, then you may skip it because it is just another version of the game. If you have not then, and you are into fantasy open world games, then it is worth the pick. The game looks good and plays well. I have not had any issues and have way too much time into it now.

Having Skyrim in a handheld format has reinvigorated the game for me. I owned it on 360 upon its initial release and then again when the version with all the expansions came out. I loved it, but by the time GTA V came out I was unimpressed with Skyrim's scope and range of activities. Something about having it on the handheld has brought it new life. Being able to take it anywhere physically has made the game feel broader. It still lacks a lot of activities and verticality present in newer sandboxes but I've come to appreciate it so much more. It also looks fantastic on the small screen. For me this has become the best version.

I'd like to start by saying I already owned the original and remakes on pc; this is my favorite version. Looks wise it's about the same as original skyrim on high settings with the improved water and whatnot of the remaster, but you probably won't notice because it's good enough and you'll be having too much fun. The real winning feature though is the motion controls (aiming your bow, spells, etc), they work very well and make it drastically easier to play with a controller and IMOHO make it better than mouse and keyboard. The gesture controls (swinging a sword, blocking with a shield, etc) are ok... but not enough to make me want to play with joy-cons instead of a pro controller. I wish I could mod it (unofficial patch especially) but it's still REALLY good!

This is one of the best games I've played. I love how I got to create my character and being able to go on different missions. There's a wide variety of things you could do and make the decision to be good by helping others or evil by killing everyone and everything. As you level up you gain power for different skill sets that you get to choose. You can adopt children and buy houses. You can pay someone to be your partner to help you on your missions by giving them better armor and weapons. That's just a few things you can get into on the game. It is very addicting. I've put in over 100hrs in a short period of time. You definitely have to play this game!

Originally when I bought this game I had watched hours of footage about it trailer after trailer and spent many more talking to my friends about the potential upsides of this game. Fresh off the heels of TESIV: Oblivion I was ready to dive in. Unfortunately I made it maybe 10 hours into the game and my copy randomly turned up missing and being young I just took it as a loss. What else could I do. Now that I'm older and have more disposable income I decided to come back and check it out and it truly does not disappoint Everything you know and love about the elder scrolls games with mobile support. In regards to the games performance... the game did crash once or twice on me over a 50 hour period (or more of game play) and I have ran in to some sound issues a few times (nothing big, would be some distortion, and then would return to normal). Bethesda did an excellent job with this game, and the port looks awesome in hand held mode. Having this game in the palm of your hands is unreal. I would easily say this is the best hand held game, I've ever played. I highly recommend this game for people who really want to dig in to a Skyrim adventure. Try to have some idea of how you want to build your character, and put your points in to the proper skill trees.

With one of the biggest and most immersive games out there, Skyrim is a time sink game. It's something that rewards you when you explore every little thing. But some of us live busy lives and can't just sit around all day. But the Switch lets you bring the world with you and either on the go or just when you're in another room or want to watch tv. You can do fetch quests and tedious tasks while doing other things and the nature of the Nintendo Switch lets you pick it up and pause it whenever you want. This is the perfect game to have on the Nintendo Switch and it will give you hundreds of hours to exploring!

Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch is just as good as its orginal releases on PS3 and XBOX 360. Don't expect PS4 visuals, but it definitely doesn't look bad. One of the biggest draws for me is the ability it play this on the go. I'm still surprised by how well the Switch handles with massive game. Another plus is the inclusion of all DLC - content that used to cost $30-40 extra to play. As for Skyrim itself, its a great game with great gameplay and compelling characters and stories that has taken hundred of hours from me. Just buy Skyrim in one format or another, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
