I love the fact that I could find this movie at Best Buy. My daughter was reading the book and it was a great conclusion to finishing the book sitting down with her and viewing the movie.

I got this movie for my daughter, but got drawn into it--the plot draws you in. I will watch it again and maybe again.

Good but Read the Book Instead

    Posted .

A story about redemption and friendship during a time where the surrounding environment was harsh, war was going on, and circumstances dictated a person's life-- The Kite Runner is a critically acclaimed book and this movie was made to follow it. Although it was a good movie, like many other cases, the book is many times better. It's a story that plays with the audiences' emotions, and though more extreme than most reader's lives overall when one thinks about what's going on, many can still relate to the underlying story. Afterall, there isn't anyone who has never felt the guilt of betrayal. Since the novel is so emotionally stirring, rarely could a movie ever grant it the acclaim it deserves. If you're not a reader, I suggest you start here. Not a difficult read at all.

    Healthy Perspective

    Posted .

One of the more visceral movie viewing experiences that I have had. This film offered a healthy perspective of life in Afghanistan in the past thirty-five years and gives viewers in our Western Judeo-Christian dominant culture common themes to share with our Eastern brothers. Whether conservative or liberal, all active-thinking men and women should make some time to view this film.
