When I received this movie I received the 1970's version of the movie but it was in the 2009 disc box. I returned the movie and reordered still received the 1970's movie version.

Surprisingly Good Horror Remake

Two teen girls named Mari (Sarah Paxton) and Paige (Martha Maclsaac) were out in the city to have a good time but when they meet a few crooks named Krug (Garret Dillahunt), Justine (Spencer Treat Clark), Francis (Aaron Paul) and Sadie (Riki Lindhome) as they kidnap the girls. They take them away from the city only to kill them but after the dirty business they seek shelter in the home of a married couple (Tony Goldwyn and Monica Potter) but unfortunately they are the parents of Mari whom have survived and now the parents seek to destroy the maniacs.
this was a Brilliant and well done remake of a 1972 cult favorite which was good but outdated, afterall there has been some excellent films of the 70's that have stood the test of time like "Halloween", "The Exorcist", "Jaws" etc. but "Last House" wasn't one of them. The original was based on Igmar Bergman's swedish arthouse film "The Virgin Spring" but this one was a vast improvement on the badly acted yet comical at times 1972 version as this movie was serious without a bit of humor. The acting here is just excellent and the original producers Wes Craven with Sean S. Cunningham collabrate together once again to produce this redux but made it better. The sequences is as shocking yet more realistic then the one in the original but not as graphic as the 10 minute in "I Spit on Your Grave" which was worse then the one here and was better then the 1972 Last House movie even "House on The Edge of the Park" was better then Last House 1972.
This Blu-Ray gives off excellent picture and sound quality in perfect quality and both unrated and theatrical cuts with only a few extras like behind the scenes, deleted scenes and BD-live, this movie is one of the greatest horror remakes ever and one of the best horror movies of the decade.

The movie itself was alright, but even being 16 years old i was very disturbed. a group of men kidnap 2 young girls and proceed to savagly beat them and violate them. The story is classic, but Wes Craven did a much better job in the original back in the times of all great horror classics such as Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. They all get remade but the originals are always the best and need to be left alone. I would reccomend this movie to anyone who isn't easily affected by blood and can get past a scene of violation (i advise u to fast fwd). if you get past that then its an alright movie to entertain yourself for the night.

A phenomenal remake...

Normally I am not a fan of remakes, especially of a classic cult film. However, this remake paid homage to the original film; it was not made as a cheap rip-off to the original cult classic. I think what this film will do is introduce a new crowd of younger movie goers to a film built with an intelligent plot, well developed characters, and a great story line. Many younger people would probably be turned off by the original version of this film due to the point it has become dated with the style of the direction, acting, dialogue, and clothes of the people in the film. This is not a cheap remake made by people who were lazy and wanted to make a movie. I think they went into this project with the intention of matching the work of a masterpiece and introducing classic suspense to a new audience.

A classic early-era thriller

It's a classic thriller, good plot and frightful enough for even the strong of heart. Only disappointment is this DVD is restricted, that is it only plays on laptop type media, and not on standard home DVD players. That was not made very clear in advertisements, and quite a disappointment that cannot view it on the big screen.

The Last house on the left is remake is what i like to call one of better remake of horror movie that came out in the past years.Ranking this movie up there with horror remake such as The hills have eyes and Rob Zombie halloween. Now the movie has a very dark feal to it but this movie is very good improvement over the 1972 movie for the fact in my eyes that movie was a little to brutal for some to watch and the for the fact the carl ellsworth dose what rob zombie did with his halloween he changes some stuff around. They way he change some stuff around in this movie is for the better and give more of better outcome than than the 1972 movie but still keeps up most of the brutal parts in the movie

This version is a remake of the 1972 movie of the same title, which was written and directed by Wes Craven. This is a old fashion revenge movie,it's about two girls Mari(Sara Paxton) and her friend Paige(Martha Maclsaac) who get kiddnapped and ruthlessly assulted by a killer named Krug(Garret Dillahunt). Then the sadistic killer and his gang find shelter from a strom at the home of Mari's parents John(Tony Goldwyn) and Emma Collingwood(Monica Potter). The parents later on find out about what happened to their daughter and get ready to take action into their own hands. The acting is pretty straight forward from beginging to end none of it seemed fake.It really felt like the girls were in real danger in the hotel room scene. The ending needed some work and the movie's too short before you know it,it's over.I'm a person who really doesn't like revenge flicks, but it was pretty good.I would say rent before you buy,but not at full price.

Sure it's not the classic, the original everyone knows but so what. It's a good movie and if you enjoy movies in general you'll enjoy this.

Not a great movie. There was weird, happy music playing through the whole movie in spots where there should not have been any music. The actors were not great. .

this movie was digusting, i understand that it was aremake of the original, but it should not have been re-made. the r@ape scene was just not needed. why in the world would you want to witness some poor girl being r@ped? i watched the original, and thought the same exact thing. it just makes no sense to me at all.

AS PERFECTLY PUT BY THE PREVIOUS REVIEWER,
THE 6 MINUTE R*PE SCENE WAS TOTALLY NOT NEEDED AND THE CAMERA
DIDN'T NEED TO BE RIGHT ON TOP OF THEM. WAS THIS R RATED OR XXX?
THIS MOVIE HAD NOTHING BUT SADISTIC BRUTAL VIOLENCE IN IT.
I'M SORRY I WATCHED IT.
