I love the mix between the real time and turn based combat as well. Overall the story is pretty good so far and the gameplay is great as well. Definitely worthwhile for any RPG fan!

A good jumping on point

If you've never played the trails series it's a good jumping on point with a more modern and polished feel compared to the older games. The series is divided into arcs that all take place across 2-4 games in a different area of a connected world. Characters from the different arcs will cameo or crossover between arcs and you'll often see how events happening in one arc effect the characters and economics of another arc while playing it. This is part 1 of a new arc so it's all pretty fresh and as far as I can tell so far, the most standalone of the different arcs in the series. It's an intimidating series to approach but if you can get into it it's probably one of the best RPGs on the market.

This is the start of the Calvard Arc in the much larger Legend of Heroes series. You can jump in here, if you want, and understand the story. But I would recommend starting with Trails in the Sky to get the full context. But be sure to take a whole year off work, because this is the 11th mainline game in the series, and they take 100 hours plus to complete. But it is WELL worth it.

Great RPG Series
