It's exactly what you expect from every other Zelda game, just with better graphics. The only downside is that they implemented weapon durability into the game, which is pretty annoying.

Easily one of the best Zelda games ever, the exploration and world building is better than any other game in the series, bar none. The only negligible problem would be weapon durability, but you're given an abundance of weapons to counter this problem.

Awesome game, play and solve quests in your own way. Best part is you can travel to anywhere that you see in the game. Annoying thing is the weapon durability though...it breaks after hitting your target 10-20 times.

This game is phenomenal. The small details really add up to create a lived-in organic world where the possibilities are endless. The weapon durability forces you to continually adjust how you accomplish tasks. The only negatives for me are the voice acting (when present) is kind of weak, and the music doesn't feature prominently enough.

I'm not deep into this game, and I've admittedly never been a huge Legend of Zelda fan, but this is easily my favorite game in the franchise that I've played. There's something very satisfying about the sense of exploration this game offers. There are annoying aspects of the game, like weapon durability, but they serve to make the journey more memorable. The game is atmospheric and encourages players to make their own way, it's an excellent shot in the arm for the franchise, for open world RPGs, and for Nintendo.

I bought a Switch to play this. Open world done right. if you like exploration this game will be everything you ever wanted. weapon durability is the only major complaint I have. otherwise Nintendo really did an amazing job.

The openness of the game is really emphasized throughout your playthrough. You can pretty much approach any situation however you want, the devs don't hold your hand. The story suffers from this however, and I think they spent so much time working on the size of the game that they didn't have enough time to focus on the typical Zelda experience with the dungeons. There isn't enough of them, in my opinion. Weapon durability sucks too. Still a masterpiece of a game, though.

I've enjoyed every Zelda game I've played, Breath of the Wild was no different! The sounds and characters are pure Zelda. The controls are pretty tight. My one qualm with the game is the weapon durability mechanic. I'd like to have seen the weapons last a little longer. Not a deal breaker for me though.... if you own a Switch, then Zelda BotW is a must own.

Being able to play Zelda on-the-go with the Switch is great! The game itself hasn't pulled me in as I hoped it would. The open-world and exploration is fantastic. I find myself getting distracted too often to find out what is just a short distance away. Zelda on the Switch itself looks incredible. I don't care much for the weapon durability as it is irritating nor the inventory management. I would prefer button mapping options as I am used to using other default control layouts on other consoles.

I went into this game with very high expectations after all of the reviews started going live for it and because I'm a huge Zelda fan. This game did not disappoint. It presents an open world that begs you to get lost in and rewards your exploration like only a Zelda game can. The characters are fantastic, the score is amazing and the gameplay is among the best that Zelda has had to offer. Tons of puzzles all over the map in the form of the shrines that each bring enough challenge to be fun and rewarding, but not so much that you would leave frustrated. The combat is very well rounded and mixes well with the environment to make almost every enemy encounter feel like a puzzle in it's own right. With the weapon durability system, you also get to constantly switch up your fighting styles by being forced to use a new weapon. If you are a Zelda fan or just a fan of open worlds in general, this game will offer you countless hours of entertainment.

I played this title with anticipation of this being the greatest game of the generation, but it'sn't. Not even the best game of this year. The graphics suck due to the bad art style. It looks like some anime garbage. The framerate sucks, it's ~20-30. Not good at all. Weapon durability is horrible! They break too quickly. Difficulty was a bit tough, but nothing I can't handle. The game is just not very good. Nostalgia definitely pumped up the ratings a few points.

I've never been the biggest Zelda fan. I enjoy the games but there has always been just a lack of narrative that distracts me. In this case though, the lack of narrative was the goal, and the open world screams at you to make your own adventure. This isn't new to the open world genre, but for some reason it works way better here. This game takes what assassin's Creed started, and the rest of the industry adopted, and makes it fun again. I don't even know how really, but it does. My theory is that it makes every little thing you do in the world, whether it's doing shrines, expanding map awareness through towers, or exploration in general, directly effect you in the game. The shrines for more stamina and hearts, the map awareness to find more shrines or new areas to explore, and exploration to find food, minerals, critters or more. Everything you do is to your direct benefit so you never really feel like you're wasting time. Of course, the problems with this game are the sames ones you've probably read here there and every where: weapon durability. It sucks to finally find a good weapon but be afraid to use it due to the fact that you only get between 10 and 20 hits before you lose it forever. A bummer, but another reason to go out in the world and find koroku seeds and expand your inventory! Woo!
