This game is excellent. Nintendo has taken the open world formula with which the market is saturated, and have created something truly special. You are given just enough direction for the cohesive narrative to shine, but how you get there is entirely up to you. Solving puzzles in exciting and creative ways brings a freshness that is missing in many "map games" as open-world titles are often called. Don't wait for a Switch - just buy this game.

I'm probably 40 hours in to Breath of the Wild and the hype is REAL! This is the best reviewed video game in history for a reason, and you're probably better off googling any major outlet's take on the game (IGN, Gamespot, Destructoid) than reading about my ramblings about how much fun it is to cook food and kill Guardians :P *The WiiU version is nearly identical to the Switch version so pick up a WiiU pro controller and save some $$$!

I've played nearly every Zelda game made, and I enjoy them. However, Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda game since Ocarina of Time, and I may even like it better. I'm not a fan of open world games, but BotW plays differently. I actually want to explore and find all of the secrets. I highly recommend this game. Doo yourself a favor if you pick this up: play the game without any guides. The secrets are meant to be discovered organically.

The amount of open ended exploration is unrivaled. Great graphics. Best Zelda to date. Enough said!

This game blew me away! I wasn't thinking that this game was going to make me rethink Zelda, but it has made me rethink Zelda and open world games. Instead of getting a power one at a time and then working through a dungeon with that on the puzzles, this game makes those tools available right away. 120 shrines means 120 intricate puzzles to solve amongst the vast open world. Get it, the Wii U version is no different than the switch.

With Breath of the Wild, Nintendo takes a legendary series and creates a new masterpiece. The openness, the physics systems, the combat, and the climbing all combine to make a living world that's a joy to be a part of. Fifty hours in, I still feel like I have so much more to explore before I reach the end. And I can't help but think any "end" will be that by name only, as exploring any random corner of this world always entertains.

Great game, great pacing, great open-world gameplay. Must-buy, regardless of platform.

Nintendo does it again. Not only have they made the best Zelda game to date, or the best open-world game, but one of the best games period. Prepare to get lost in this game for weeks to come. Also, the Wii U version is not a downgrade at all from the Switch version. Both versions have some framerate skipping when things get crazy (still better than 90% of the games on Xbone or PS4), and it hasn't been the least bit bothersome.

This game is incredible. There's so much to see and do, but it never becomes a chore. You are given the ability to play the game your own way, but if you need guidance you just need to speak with the right people. The world itself is so beautiful, due to its unique art style. This game will kill you A LOT, but you'll be having so much fun that you won't care. You owe it to yourself to play this game if you have a Wii U or Switch.

Many regard this as a perfect game, or the best in the series. It's is very well polished, but also marks a turn for the series toward the on-trend open world game. I respectfully disagree, however, that it is the best Zelda game. The modern format won't appeal to everyone, but you certainty can't go wrong with a Zelda game. Get in there, explore, and have fun. Just as good on the Wii U if you can't get your hands on a Switch.

When I bought the WiiU, this was the game I wanted the most. The one I waited for. The one I dreamed and prayed for. Now I ended up with the Switch day 1 along with this game. But I bought the WiiU version too. Why? Because I love and care about this game so much that's why! This game is perfect. I'll revisit this game as the WiiU version soon enough. Get on this game now.

Without a doubt the most ambitious and enormous Zelda game Nintendo has ever made. Those who started with the NES original will feel the rush of excitement in exploring a vast open world any way you want. Feels like where Zelda was meant to go all along. Exciting and challenging combat, lovable characters, tons of unique and entertaining puzzles. Whether you get the Wii U or Switch version, you don't be disappointed.

Look, this game is possibly the best game of all time. It's a completely new take on LoZ, yet it retains all the old aspects. When I bought this game, I went in blind (I saw the trailer but nothing other than that), and I was shocked to see characters from old games like Beetle, Moblins, of course, the main clique, Impa, Zelda, the Zoras, all redefined with updated character models and etc. ANYWAY you've got the gist, but what you're really wondering is "why the 4 stars?" Well buddy, because they didn't have the game on display, I couldn't choose which one I wanted. "Why does that matter if they're all the same game," well I'll tell you why! I like when my game cases are in mint condition, perfect, and the one I got had some writing indented onto the top (i.e. someone used it as a table and pressed down on the pen too hard resulting in my case being tainted). SOOooo that made me upset.. but buy the game! It's worth it!

The graphics are not the greatest, but you have to consider when the console was released. Very interactive and some interesting things you can do in the open world

Surprised my husband with this game as a birthday present. You’d think after 6 months he’d be over it but he isn’t! He plays it ALL THE TIME! Well worth the money.

A lot of love and care has gone into the making of this game. The small nuances and touches of the game help distinguish it as a terrific game. There is little I can add that has not already been covered in other reviews. I have been playing Zelda games since the original NES version and this is a welcome addition. I'm not yet ready to get a Nintendo Switch - and have been very happy with the Wii-U version.
