Much has been written about Breath of the Wild and its incredible reinvention of the Zelda series as an open-world title. In my experience, it's all true. I've never felt so free in a game to run through fields or climb towering mountains, nor felt so rewarded while doing so. Players are able to approach the world of Hyrule in any way they like from the word Go. The Wii U version of this game, I'm happy to report, runs every bit as well as the Switch edition. The resolution is a hair lower, but performance has, by and large, been without issue in my first 50 or so hours on Wii U. Towns and cities are the only areas with consistent framerate drops, which fortunately do not meaningfully affect gameplay. I have encountered brief freeze-ups in one or two extreme combat situations (example: killing three enemies at once with an explosion in the middle of a raging thunderstorm--game briefly froze but did not crash), but it's my understanding the Switch version shares these issues. If you're at all interested in the Zelda series or open-world titles, this is absolutely a must-buy. Wii U owners, know that this version of the game is, for all intents and purposes, the same as the Switch one.

The legend of zelda: breath of the wild changes the old formula of previous titles by making the game open world and allowing you to go anywhere you want. This is probably the best title since ocarina of Time. I've sunk about 130 hours into this and loved 95% of it. I would recommend this game to anyone with a Wii u or Nintendo switch.

This game redefines the Legend of Zelda. The open world exploration, the unique weapon system, the climbing and stamina system all come together to make this a wonderful game. It didn't have dungeons like it used to but it has evolved. It uses Shrines as puzzles and the glider gets you everywhere. The story is great and keeps you invested.

Hands down the best game ever for the WiiU. Might be the best Zelda game ever period. If you can't find a Switch and have a WiiU, this is a must buy. I did a lot of research and the game contents are identical. The WiiU version has a lower resolution, but still looks and plays great. There should be no hesitation in getting this game.

Growing up with the Zelda games, you always expected a great story and adventure. This game may be even better than OoT. It is an enormous open world game that is perfect for the curious. There are puzzles in forms of shrines and in search of Korok seeds. It is easy to get sidetracked from the main game while you explore the world.

If you haven't already heard, this is an enormous and amazing game. Not very fast paced, but ultimately unforgettable.

Huge world to explore and very unrestricted in what you can accomplish. You can go fight the final boss as soon as you leave the tutorial area. You can conquer any "dungeon" in any order you choose. This one has more story in it than most others that have come before it if you search it out. Highest rating it can possibly get.

This is probably the best Zelda game since Ocarina of Time! I love the open world aspect to the game and don't have to be structured and go from one dungeon to another. It will consume your time and keep you engaged. I recommend the pro controller over the pad. Have fun and enjoy the next chapter in the Zelda series.

I was sceptical at first if this Zelda title would be any good because it was so different from the others in the series. I was more then happy when I started playing and realized just how amazing this game is. You can go anywhere you want and completely ignore the main story for hours on end and still find things to do.

It's a shame that the Wii U never caught on, but at least it ends on a high note with this masterpiece of a game.

This is a fantastic game! It is a mix of some many different games, mainly Skyrim, The Witcher 3, and of course Zelda. The world is HUGE and so beautiful! This is easily the most challenging Zelda and has so much to it. If you have a Wii-U or Switch pick this game up! Without a doubt this is one of the best games ever.

Another game with great graphics and hours of time to spend chasing down puzzles side quests and great villians

The graphics are stunning and the game is somewhat challenging. My son usually beats the games quickly but this one slowed him down a bit due to the what it takes to pull the master sword. Overall, I would recommend this game to others. My son has been playing it for weeks trying to find all of the shrines and towers.

Zelda Breath of the Wild is a great game, it's really really good. Possibly the best game on Wii U and a must buy for all Wii U owners. My only real gripe being the game does have very real performance issues, mind you it's not game breaking bad but it really hurts immersion and can be an issue in combat at times. Villages are especially bad, thankfully you don't *need* perfect frame rates in towns but again it's just so immersion breaking. I keep mentioning immersion because the game has so many little touches to make the game world feel more alive and "real" an these performance issues just destroy that at times. Beyond that though it really is a fantastic game and I'd really recommend everyone play it regardless of the performance issues. I'd also note the Wii U has no Wii U features at all aside from allowing you to play off-tv on the GamePad... beyond that the GamePad is not used for anything else and is honestly annoying to use when playing on TV because the screen remains lit up with no use. Pro Controller is supported however you will need to use the GamePad for a few shrines.

I have spent hours discovering the world of Breath of the Wild, and I can easily say this may be the best game I have ever played. It seems like you are discovering something new at every turn, and you can spend hours just exploring the huge world. I would highly recommend it, it will get even casual gamers hooked.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a fantastic game that offers so much that other games from the past have never offered before. The world is beautiful and feels alive, and the combat is both fun and challenging. The game does lag at points but that does not depreciate the overall experience of the game.

This game has hours & hours of extensive gameplay, side quests & huge open world. It was worth the long anticipated wait though it is the last game to ever be released on the Wii U since the Switch is impossible to find at the moment it is worth picking up & adding to the great library of games for this console.

Wow. Amazing game. I've been a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda series for years, and I think they've finally topped Ocarina of Time. Completely re-invents the franchise, while remaining loyal to its past. Can't recommend this game enough. Do whatever you have to do to play this game, because this is a MUST-PLAY!

Being a long time Zelda fan, and long time defender of the the charm and spirit of Windwaker, I was completely blown away by Breath of the Wild. This game takes so much of what we love about Zelda games and reinvigorates the franchise by throwing the player into a world where we can venture in any direction, explore uncountable nooks and crannies, and experience vistas that are quite often breathtaking. This game sits in my top five games of all time!

The game overall is fantastic, but it is not a typical Zelda game. The Wii U version has some frame rate issues, and the game downright just pauses at times. But the story is fantastic, and 50 hours in I'm still enjoying discovering new things and trying new things. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.
