Our son adores it

The most I've played a Zelda game is Breath of the Wild, which - as I have been told - is "not a Zelda game." So I may be a poor reviewer of this product. I can say, however, that the Link's Awakening remake looks great, sounds great, and is far less overwhelming to our 8-year old son.
The graphics are very attractive and the soundtrack is the one you've heard played by symphony orchestras for the past 20 years. The gameplay is great. I much prefer the Switch joysticks to the GameBoy D-Pad. Having more buttons on the Switch means more stuff to do! Can I compare this to the 1993 game? No, but I can say that this version holds up very well even against other games I could be playing on the Switch.
As mentioned, our son just loves it. He gets worked up sort of easily over Breath of the Wild, and this has been a nice notch down kind of game. He has little difficulty with it and when he does, he is engaged enough to work it out. I find that to be the best part of Link's Awakening - my son wants to figure it out. I recommend the game and I would buy it again if we lost it.

Very fun Zelda game for the Switch; the remake holds up to the original, and improves upon it greatly to make it perfect for Link's Awakening veterans and new fans alike, with gorgeous graphical design and an outstanding soundtrack making it amazing despite some minor performance hiccups. Highly recommended overall.

i have vague memories of the original Link’s Awakening on classic Gameboy. i think i borrowed it from a friend and got to through a couple of dungeons. quite a few things about the beginning portion were very familiar, but it quickly became a brand new adventure for me. as such, i can say, i feel this game is satisfying both from a nostalgic point of view and one for new comers. if you like classic top down zelda games, this has the old school feel down to a T. but it’s been updated and refreshed to make it feel like it was made just yesterday. why is that special? well... for those who played the original zelda games: you’ll know just how creative the puzzles are, how they rely on you using your own intuition to solve them (instead of in game prompt or hand holding), and how fleshed our and bizarre the characters are. this is the perfect zelda to follow the massive success of Breath of The Wild with... not because they are similar (they’re not), but because they scratch an entirely different itch for the same market of fans. one you may not even know you had.

I finally picked up my copy of link’s awakening this morning and after playing a good 2 hours, i’m very happy with my purchase. Not only is it a great remake of the classic nes/snes game which were amazing, but it’s even better. The visuals & the music are great. I cant wait to keep playing it after work.

I loved the original Link's Awakening on the Game Boy when I was younger. This is a great way to re-introduce the game for a new generation of gamers. The graphics are stylishly done, with a plastic, shiny toy look to them, and the music is top-notch.

This game is an EXACT copy of the Game Boy game that came out about 25 years ago. It's a little short compared to some most games now, however, it is very fun. One or two things were added to this version along with a dungeon maker. The updated controls from the two button Game Boy set up are great.

I loved this game when it came out for the GameBoy, and the remake does it justice. Every character and creature is adorably recreated in the game's new art, and adds to the original's many charms. It's a short adventure, but well worth the price of admission.

I was blown away by this game! Yes, it’s not your open world 3D Zelda game but wait til you start playing it. It’s very engaging, will make you think hard what to do next, and it’s very rewarding when you beat a dungeon level. One of the best Zelda games, probably my 5th favorite Zelda game.

My 9 year old son loves Zelda games. He plays mostly on DS, but he was blown away by Breath of the Wild on Switch. He was so excited to play another great Zelda adventure on the Switch. Great graphics and wonderful gameplay. They did an excellent job rebooting a classic Zelda game

In this beautifully remastered installment of the Legend of Zelda series, you're in the midst of riding out a powerful thunderstorm at sea when your boat crashes. As you awaken, you find yourself on the mysterious Koholint Island. Your task? You must awaken the Wind Fish. Whilst on you quest, you will meet plenty of friendly characters and see more than a few familiar faces - Goombas, Cheep-cheeps, Bloopers, Shy Guys, Boos, a Chain Chomp, Piranha Plants, Buzzy Beetles, Pokeys, Spinys, Wart (the final boss from Super Mario Bros. 2, known as "Mamu" in this game) and Bob-Ombs, to name a few. That's right! We've got MARIO enemies! Of course there are some Zelda staples, too - Hinox, Stalfos, Moblins, Keese, Octorocks, and more. If you own ANY variant of the Nintendo Switch, you SHOULD get this game!

If you are a fan of Zelda or of old school adventure games I would highly recommend picking this up.
It plays like the old-school Zelda games but I love the art-style and graphics they went with. They also throw in some interesting concepts to change it up so the gameplay doesn't feel as dated.

I got this game for my younger son and he likes Breath of the Wild bit given this is an older gamer with updated visuals but still retains the harder difficultly of those newer to the Zelda franchise, it can be a little frustrating. But that is not the games fault it's just how games have changed compared to when this one was originally released. It's really an instant classic again on a new system. Just be aware that you will need to do more than just walk around exploring in this game to level up enough.

Played this game back when it was on the gameboy and can tell you this remake is very well done! The game feels refreshing to play and manages to keep the same feel I got back when I played the original. Definitely would recommend to anyone who has/hasn’t played any of the Zelda games!

Beat it pretty fast but really enjoyed my time. Sometimes it difficult to figure out what to do next, but just make sure you talk to people and pay attention to the hints. Games better when you don’t look up a guide.

Link's awakening is a very fun game to play its challenging enough to keep you going. there are a lot of easter eggs in the game which will take some time to find as you play.
Very intuitive, good graphics, good storyline. This is one of those games that you can play over and over.

This is a great remake of the original. The graphics are delightfully cartoony, and the controls are very tight. I hope they use the engine to remake a few of the other Zelda titles (Oracle of Ages/Seasons, anyone?). I'd really like to see the original NES Zelda given this treatment, too.

A very detailed remake of the classic Gameboy game. It was the very first Zelda I ever owned and will always be special. The updated visuals and music is wonderful.
Only complaint is as of launch, there are some noticeable framerate issues. Nothing game breaking but still very noticeable
