The original Lego Movie remains an ingenious, beloved film that brilliantly mashed up humor for both the target audience of youngsters and the adult parents that brought them to the theater to watch it. The Lego Movie 2 is another fun romp with Emmet, Wyldstyle, Batman, Unikitty, and company. As the aforementioned parent to a youngster who loves the Lego movies, and who enjoys them just about as much, who also greatly appreciates the consistent acknowledgments in the humor for us older moviegoers, the Lego Movie 2 largely continues that tradition. It continues, quite valiantly, the same quantity of humor for the parents, but the quality, for the first time among their big budget releases, staggered a bit. It's not all misses, but it's not all hits, either. Hopefully, this is a one-off rather than the beginning of showing cracks in the foundation with the well running dry. In that regard, the effort was appreciated, it was just a shame more of the attempts didn't stick the landing. On the kid's side of the film, my son enjoyed it very much. The efforts here paid off much more than on the aforementioned parents' side, but... and I have to state that it's both to be expected with such a near-perfect film such as the original, AND it's not nearly a "miss" that should be concerning, but even here, the kids' side didn't quite resonate as strongly with my son. Enjoy it, he most certainly did, but the continuation of joy after the credits rolled didn't last nearly as long. I think a good portion of this is due to more predictability. There isn't much here that will come as a genuine surprise, despite several attempts. It's almost all easy to figure out where it's going- again, not due to a lack of attempt (while my son, at age 5, didn't audibly state "he knew that" (which he does at a (non)shockingly high rate, nowadays, lol,)) he also wasn't floored by any of it, and the adults will quickly see the clues, it's just THAT LITTLE of a "letdown" that it's impossible not to compare it, rather than view it as a continuation, to the original. Now, let none of this scare you off. On a whole, LM2 is a worthy film to add to the collection, to keep as one of those rarely listed family films that truly is designed to entertain the ENTIRE family. It has a hard time keeping up with the original, and what film wouldn't? But, considering its pedigree, it can't help but be just a bit of a letdown in that regard. In 4K, and this is also important, some of the best usage currently available is found in animation. Lego Movie 2 looks downright gorgeous, particularly combined with HDR. Plenty of brilliant uses of lighting and color really pop here, and if you have the setup for it, it's the best way to enjoy the movie.

As a fan of the first film, I kept my expectations in check, but the sequel managed to surpass them. A fun movie for the entire family. It's definitely recommended to have seen the first to fully understand the universe, but that's not a sandbag in any way. A wonderful story expanding on the world of the first film, expanding beyond just the Lego bricks much like a kid brings other toys into their creative playtimes, and it works beautifully. If I had one complaint, a VERY minor one, it's that this one doesn't quite have the level of imagination or creativity as the first. But again, that's a very, very, very minor note at best. The film adds in more musical sequences, a bit like your traditional animated Disney films, but the songs are fun, catchy, and one quite literally is about the song getting stuck in your head. The underlying message is nice, driving home to be who you are and not attempt to change just to please others (and by the same token not try to change those around you), a message of acceptance that even younger fans can understand. It's a wonderful sequel, building on the foundation of the first, with nearly the same level of imagination and creativity. Catchy music, wonderful humor, and a positive message to boot. Get the family on the ol' double-decker couch and see how awesome everything is once again.

The humor and artistic style, while treading the same ground as Lego Batman or the first Lego Movie, still remains fresh and enjoyable. I think what most amuses me is that this movie is more on-the-nose in terms of naming and themes than even its prequel. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first Lego Movie, which isn't unexpected. Still, I think it is a worthy addition to this growing collection of Lego movies. If you liked the other Lego movies, you will probably like this one. If you haven't seen them, start with the first Lego movie, and you will enjoy this one more for having seen that first.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Lego Movie (and the Batman Lego Movie; Lego Ninjago Movie - not so much). The original was new and a lot of fun. We got to meet a lot of characters and see their journey. In the sequel a lot of those folks are back but it's a darker place than it was. Everything was not awesome. But, of course, bad was fun and getting better was, well, funner. I gave it only four stars as it was not as joyous as I'd hoped but the writing and delivery was great and watching both on a rainy Seattle afternoon was a lot of fun for my family.

This movie was made more for adults than kids. I probably enjoyed it more than my kids too! My 6 and 4-year old girls easily sat through the movie but a lot of the humor was over their heads. The entertainment factor for them was purely because it was a cartoon and Legos, which they love playing with themselves. For adults, it is smart, humorous, and has good themes adult would like older children to be exposed to. Probably better suited for 8-year-olds and up but I found myself wanting to watch it again as soon as it was over!

I loved the first LEGO Movie, and my kids were super excited for the sequel. I don't always love sequels, but I watched it with/for them, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. In fact, I'd say it gets better with each re-watch! The music is catchy and not at all out of place in the movie (like I thought it might be), and the story is fun, original, and touching. Highly recommended for fans of the first LEGO Movie.

First Lego Movie was better, and you really have to have seen the first one (and paid attention) before you can understand some of the story lines in the Second Part. I did think most of the scenes and character dialog went way too fast so that you missed a lot if you were not paying close attention. Good family movie night choice however. I'll probably watch it again to catch the funny parts I missed.

Just when I stopped singing the soundtrack to the first Lego movie (Who can ever really stop singing "Everything is Awesome?") they topped it with an even catchier soundtrack. What I like about these movies is that while watching the movie from the Lego characters' point of view, you are eventually introduced to the humans and their version of what is going on while playing with their toys. I love these movies!

I was skeptical about a sequel to a fantastic movie, but I was sold on this! After a slow start, the movie picked up and was a very entertaining movie (with another good message). The 4K quality just brings life to this already-colorful movie, and the Dolby Atmos audio just reinforces that! The extras are all right (wish there were more) but this is worth the price!

I liked this movie. It definitely was not as fun as the original though. It had a lot more singing, which felt more like a musical than I expected. The movie also felt more predictable for the final moments of the movie than the original. It also has several "easter egg" moments in the movie that makes it more enjoyable for adults that kids wouldn't pick up on.

Seeing movies in the Lego franchise has made me more aware of movies with family-friendly content. I enjoyed this movie as much as the first version. I have grown tired of language and other initiatives/ messages being pushed in movies from rival movie-makers. I will enjoyed the quality of this movie, the content, and will continue to see/buy movies from this franchise.

Kids liked it but not as good as the first movie. 3 stars only because the kids didn’t care to watch it over and over like the first one. Also just in case you’re looking at buying the LEGO movie2 game, it’s lame. Nothing like the first. They rushed it. Kids don’t like it either. Probably why they offered such a good deal on the movie. Only paid 13 bucks for it on Blu-ray.

The movie itself is as clever as ever, and the meta-story (what’s happening with the real people) is more involved and deeper than the original. Although the idea isn’t fresh, the execution of plot elements and humor are as on point as ever. A bit lighter on extras than the first blu Ray, the second viewing mode seems almost TOO frenetic. But still a worthy buy.

Our favorite characters return in more of the same with an expanded universe! ...literally, they go out into space this time! Image clarity is very good with bright colors and excellent detail in dark shadowed areas. 3D imagery provides added depth with a few notable pop-outs! Audio is active in all channels, most noticeable in the action scenes.

The Lego Movie 2 picks up where the first one left off--and things have gotten considerably darker. Now, Emmett and co. have to deal with sibling rivalry at home--brother and sister do not get along, and they're about to be put away forever. More silliness, comedy, and child-friendly tension and drama make this just as good as the first entry.

Ok, so this as a follow up to the first film, which is like a top 10 movies of all time type film, is really great, but never quite achieves the same level of everything is awesomeness that the original or the Batman side film achieved, but it’s a solid follow up that does a great job of fulfilling the tease that ended the original!

My kids loved the Original Lego movie and they had to get this one as well, but they don't watch it as much as they did the first one, I have this metric with my kids, the movies they love they all can watch 2-3 times every weekend, if they don't then they start arguing to watch different movies. This on is not one of those.

The original Lego Movie started a great franchise. While the sequel does not equal the first movie, it's a very serviceable sequel. And watching the movie in 3-D definitely elevates the experience. When you consider that Warner Brothers is about the last major studio supporting 3-D releases, this makes it a must buy title.

Movie was just average in my books. I liked the first movie and plot better. I think they had the right idea for the second film, but it was harder to follow. It had funny moments, but more lulls. It didn't use the everything is awesome song as much, but it had a new addicting song that I had stuck in my head for hours after.

Thank you WB for making this 3D bluray! If you still have a 3D tv and 3D bluray player, this is the version to get. As good as the 4k presentation is, at the end of the day the picture is still flat. 3D is my preffered way to watch which bring everything to life. You will not be disappointed with the pristine picture and depth!
