Gotta have this the extended version great content

This is an excellent choice for fans of the film in that you can avoid diving into 4K and stay away from that horrible bank draining Ultimate Middle Earth set and still see the upgrade to the films. There are some amazing scenes to see here in the remaster that definitely look better than the original blu ray release. It's a mixed bag though. In scenes like Minas Tirith or the dead marshes or even weathertop the overall look is kinda dull to me. This remaster is worth it for other parts of the film though. Especially when you're flying above the countryside with a mountainous view. The green tinted snow is gone! GLORIOUS! So, it's an interesting remaster to say the least. Get it if you're a super fan but if you're happy with the original releases you already have, so be it. Just stay away from The Ultimate Middle Earth box set. None of the documentaries that came with previous releases are in it and the one bonus disc is just a zoom call interview with Stephen Colbert and some of the cast.

Great to see the extended version in a higher quality than before.

Extra scenes and such that I never saw originally. I know these movies are edited, but something like this, though maybe not as important in telling the story, keeping the flow, and moving it along, they have to do, but for the ones that want similarity with the books, some things should be in movies, one way or another for guys like me that compare the books to movie version. I know it's hard enough to do these with the critics out there, and no one will ever be satisfied.

eIf you have a 4k player and TV, buy the 4k to watch without flipping disks and the Bluray for the back story. I'm a geek, I read footnotes/end notes and even look over a biblography list. The film backstory is the same for movies as notes for books, and sometimes better than the movie itself. I have been reading/watching Tolken's stories since the laate sixties.

The digital quality of these remastered movies is exceptional! I enjoyed seeing scenes that were not included in previous releases. I bought these for my husband for his birthday, he was thrilled with them. We really enjoyed watching them on a recent snowy day when we were stuck at home. No regrets purchasing these movies.

GREAT copy of this series. I absolutely love the artwork and the packaging was also in great condition. I had previously purchased this series elsewhere and had to return due to an error with the packaging as one of the cases was a 4K case, which made me mad. But this copy was PERFECT and I am so pleased! Way to go Best Buy!

Bought the set as soon as it went on sale. Audio / Video quality was great, family loved the extended scenes. Wish the behind the scenes were on Blu-rays instead of DVDs, also wish it came with a digital code.

Had not seen this in some time since I had the DVDs. Extended version in Blue Ray. Worth the money between picture quality and extended scenes.

This item was on a secret Santa gift list. Although it was cheaper at other retailers the sales associate price matched.

I like these versions better than the theatrical version, and I would very highly recommend people to watch this version.
