The Bluray itself is great quality. I felt like the movie dragged but none the less, the actors carried the film. Also for all the animal lovers... The Dog Lives!

The Mountain Between Us, is a great movie to watch.

Great movie to watch on a cold winter day! Casting Kate Winslet and Idris Elba was a stroke of genius. They look like an odd pairing in the beginning but watching the movie as it progressed, it was perfect casting. Elba's physicality adds to he realism that he really could lift and drag Kate Winslet's character through the deep snow. The inevitable happy ending was sealed after both struggle to survive the plane crash and the challenges they faced to be rescued. If you invested that much bonding with another human being, one can't help falling for each other, especially after so much hardship and close to death encounters. The stark beauty of a hostile mountain range in the winter is a sight to behold but oh so awfully dangerous. Surviving the elements together makes a great love story.

The Mountain Between Us is a drama, disaster, and romance movie based on the novel of the same name. It is a movie about a surgeon performed by Idris Elba and a journalist performed by Kate Winslet who survive a private airplane crash with the pilot's dog after the pilot has a stroke. They are stranded with injuries and severe weather conditions in the High Uintas Wilderness. Unfortunately, the pilot did not file a flight plan so no one knows where they are. Even though they were strangers when they met, the ordeal leads them to depend on each other for survival, and brings them closer. This is a movie about survival and trust in others.

This movie was a pleasant surprise... Kate Winslet & Idris Elba end up stranded on a snowy mountain in the middle of nowhere after a plane crash & have to help each other survive the icy conditions ... Of course there's alot more to it, but I'll say if you like movies like The Shallows or Castaway, you'll enjoy this one (in this case the bitter cold & mountains are the challenge versus sharks or a dessert island). The 4k transfer is rather breathtaking, with excellent detail throughout making for some pretty spectacular wintery scenes (great cinematography!). The 7.1 DTS HDMA sound is also excellent, with lots of realistic blustery wind effects pouring rain out of the rear speakers... All in all a pleasant way to spend a wintery night...

This movie has stuck with me which to me is a sign of a well executed film. The expertise in capturing the scenery and story on camera is superb especially since its in a live setting with live threats to safety. As i watched i was so moved by their predicament and the solutions and resolution for survival. I have hiked the rockies and almost lost a friend that slid down a cliff, backpacked and camped in freezing frostbite weather and fallen out of a canoe in raging rapids. The so called expert critics that bashed this movie know nothing about these things and how it would affect a person. Everyone should see this movie!

The Mountain Between Us was excellent - and the price for a 4K Ultra HD copy at Best Buy made it a no-brainer. This movie was a perfect blend of adventure, suspense, drama, and an unexpected love story that did not detract from but moved the plot forward. Idris Elba is an undeniable talent - coming across as strong, intelligent, yet disarmingly sensitive and vulnerable. Kate Winslet was perfect as well in her role as a bride thwarted on her way to the altar by a plane crash - only to find sometimes our best laid plans aren't what God and fate have planned for us. Highly recommend this - works for date night as it has something for everyone.

The Mountain Between Us is the story of two strangers who decide to share transportation after their planned flight gets cancelled due to weather conditions. When Alex Martin (Kate Winslet) asks Dr. Ben Bass (Idris Elba) to share a prop to get to their destinations instead of waiting out the storm, they think everything will be ok. No such luck because things go awry and the plane crashes killing the pilot and injuring Alex. In order to survive, Ben & Alex work together depending upon each other and fighting for their survival! This is truly a tear jerker, & a thrilling story of adventure!

Really makes you think what would happen if you were in their shoes, an outstanding adventure of a movie...

Ok, so before reading the review you should’ve already read what the story itself is, so I’m not going to cover that, all I’ll say about this movie is it’s not a waste of your time to watch, but it might not be worth your money. My recommendation would be to watch it on a movie channel you’re already paying for, or whenever it might eventually come on on regular TV, it’s just not good enough I can see a reason I should’ve spent money on it as I can’t see myself ever interested in seeing it again

this reminded me of another film but i cant remember what it was called it was a simple ok story people end up in the wrong side of an airplane crash somewhere in the icy mountains and they have to get to safety before time runs out you can pretty much guess whats going to happen through the movie specially the ending but i still think it was pretty good

This movie was spectacular because even though it involved only a few actors, the story around them had a significant plot and was well executed. The surroundings and the acting was so well done that you were moved to feel what they felt as they endured hardship. It showed that a movie does not always require super deluxe special effects and many people, but rather a story that can be told with merely a few backed by a good story.

The location cinematography is just breathtaking and the Blu-ray does it full justice along with terrific sound. The story of two plane crash victims surviving on a freezing mountain range in the dead of winter is a stretch. just how did they light all those fires with sodden wood and did they carry lighters if neither was a smoker, we may never know! Winslet and Elba do a fine job though. Well worth a buy at the low Best Buy price.

This was a good movie. It kept your interest and suspense of survival was a definite interest. It showed how two unknown people will connect in circumstances beyond one’s control regardless of the person they are. We are all equal.

Great Movie & ending. Beau Bridges played a good supporting role as the pilot of the plane which crashes in the western US mountains. Movie was about the couple that survived the crash & were able to climb out of the crash site & get back to civilization. During this time their relationship developed into a nice love story. Would recommend this movie to young adults & adults as well.

My personal thoughts: This movie demonstrates under extreme circumstances anyone, no matter their race, sex, man to man, women to women or male and female can develop an intimate bond or attachment to each other. These facts are substantiated and sourced by (Psychology) and basic human nature. Otherwise, this is an amazing movie that is very good.

This movie is one of those that get you thinking about your own experience of flying in an airplane, Idris Elba is fantastic in the role and Kate Winslet is a feisty character that turns warm in the face of adversity. The cinematography is very cool, you should watch on a large screen if possible. The characters are believable and sincere overall very enjoyable film.

I was reading the book before I purchased the BluRay movie and in the book it did not stated about the African American. I thought it was weird and wondered for awhile. In the actually movie, on the cover of the movie, there's a African american. I think I'm going to cheat a little bit watching the movie. I'm sure there's more detail in the book than watching it.
