This movie struck me as very similar to the part Eastwood played in Gran Torino.

Senior citizen becomes drug runner for cartel

Clint Eastwood does a good job on this movie of a senior citizen who is about to lose everything, so he decides to become a drug mule for the cartel to make some money. This movie is loosely based on a true story, the real mans name is Leo Sharp and he spent one year in federal prison after he was caught, Mr. Sharp was married unlike in the movie and he died in 2016. The movie is not 100% true to all the events but a lot of the events likely will never be known as Mr. Sharp was working for the cartel. It is said Mr. Sharp had tried to get out but the cartel would not let him. The movie still does a good job and provides an interesting story line of what Mr. Sharp did. I don't want to go to far into the movie and spoil it for those who might be interested in it. One thing that is true to the actual events is Mr. Sharp made 1.4 million dollars as a cartel drug mule and he did share the money with many worthy charity causes. While what Mr. Sharp did was wrong he still used a lot of the ill gotten gains to do some good. This is a good human interest story that was based loosely off of true events. On thing I would like to add is in the movie they use a Lincoln pick up truck, that is a true detail as Mr. Sharp also used a Lincoln pick up truck when he was a drug mule.

    Eastwood is Fantastic

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Clint Eastwood's latest film, The Mule (2018), starring Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper, Dianne Wiest, Michael Peña, and Laurence Fishburne. The two releases will be available for purchase on April 2. Synopsis: Earl Stone (Clint Eastwood) is a man in his 80s who is broke, alone and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he's just signed on as a drug courier for the cartel. He does well—so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn't the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper). And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl's past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it's uncertain if he'll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel's enforcers, catch up to him.

An Elegiac Lament for A Life of Mistakes

Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven" is my number-one favorite film of all time. It's a film-poem of exquisite beauty, depth, and meaning along many morality themes. Like a good number of his latter-day films, it concerns an older man looking back on a life with regrets. And while he's had some underwhelming missteps as a director since then, he's first and foremost a cinematic artist and craftsman of genius talent. I'd place this film, "The Mule", in roughly that same category of films he masters so easily. A man who has made choices that have caused him to fail his wife and daughter. But he's trying to make amends somehow, even though the way he ends up doing it is yet another misstep, albeit a well-intentioned misstep. This is one of Clint's best, and another favorite for me.

Another solid film from Eastwood and great to see him in a starring role again after the fantastic Gran Torino! A film full of comedy, drama and sentiment with all round good performances from a star studded cast with the most entertaining role, of course, being Clint. A small little fact: All Clint's clothes in the film are recycled from previous films to give it a more period authenticity! Worth a watch due to the fact that this could really be his last starring role and goes out on a high note!

Another Fantastic movie done by Clint Eastwood. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie and even loved the comical moments in the movie as well. Clint still even at his age, can bring it and get the job done very well! Clint's character and storyline both were FANTASTIC! Great acting thru-out the movie, it does not disappoint at all. Enjoy your pulled pork sandwich, Clint! LOL! ;)

I have to admit up front, I am a Clint Eastwood fan. I don't own everything he has done (not a fan of Honkytonk Man or Bronco Billy) but I love most of his acting work and directing as well. In this movie, based on a true story, he acts and directs. I don't know how historically accurate the movie is but I found it to be an interesting story and well done in my opinion. Hey, I love Clint.

If you don't enjoy this film, then there's just something wrong with you. I have every movie that Eastwood has either stared in or produce. I can't say that I love every one of them, but he has never shined more as an actor or human being as he has here. I am in the field of law enforcement, and I found myself wanting at some points to pull for the bad guy here. Then I realized it was just Clint that I was pulling for. I Wish he could live forever. ☺

    Another Entertaining Clint Eastwood Film

"The Mule" sees Clint Eastwood's return to acting as he portrays an elderly man that is running drugs for a cartel. Eastwood has that likable attitude that he has had in films like "Every Which Way but Loose" and "Bridges of Madison County" and it works for this film. Bradley Cooper is also pretty good in the supporting role and the film is entertaining for the most part. I was looking for a little more drama here, but the comedic parts were actually pretty neat. Overall, it's another good Eastwood film, but not as great as "Gran Torino" or "Absolute Power."

I couldn't wait to see how Clint translated this true life story. You watch this movie and see what happens with one man's life experience with a drug cartel but when you pay close attention you also notice there are several sub stories playing out beneath the main story. What never fails to amaze me is the constant adaptation in transportation methods of cartels. Although I don't like or support the illegal drug market, the trafficking of it is genius. The cat and mouse game between cartel and law enforcement is ever evolving.

I find it remarkable that Clint can still deliver an enthralling motion picture even in his eighties. A florist that is renowned in his home town loses his job, and wishes to make amends to his family for hardly ever being present in their lives over the years. He seeks to do so by providing money (and lots of it) by becoming a drug transporter for the Mexican Cartel. Fantastic acting. I highly recommend this one.

Any movie with Clint Eastwood in it is a great movie. Have a great deal of his movies. This one, he may be up there in age but he still make a great movie. Once he knew what he got himself into he didn't quite like it, but it was easy money for him to make. Could have had a little better ending, but you do the crime you do the time. Hopefully it's not his last one.

Clint Eastwood is a fine actor and his portrayal of a man who is caught between the forces of good and evil will have the average film goer caught in the throes of this dilemma. Battling with addiction in all forms is chaotic and watching how Clint equates the allure for money and doing the right thing plays for an interesting story plot. Good film.

Clint Eastwood shows his skill as both an actor and a director. He is amazing at any age! A touching story of a man who made mistakes in his younger life when it came to being there for his family. He try’s to make up for it in latter life but chooses the wrong path. A surprise ending that will keep you thinking.

Watching a movie about someone you have seen since you were born has a familiarity to it that is comforting.. he is older than my parents who are in their 80s and can't even leave the house and he is unknowingly delivering drugs because of his spotless driving record.. also has a message about missing out on the simple family moments due to a busy work-life and many of the characters are played by his own family

I recently purchased a Samsung Q7 4K HD TV to watch along with a Samsung M8500 4K Ultra HD BR player. I purchased The Mule 4K Blue Ray dvd so I could watch it on my new tv in 4K Ultra high definition resolution. It was incredibly clear like I was there watching in person. Clint Eastwood was great in the movie

Eastwood stars in, directs, and produces this film in which he gets involved with drug smuggling for the Mexican cartels to help pay down the lien on his foreclosed property. Bradley Cooper plays the DEA agent after the drug ring. Based on a true story. Nice soundtrack. Also stars his real-life daughter.
