Customers consistently note the portability and easy use of the RecoveryAir JetBoots Medium. They are praised for being a great recovery tool, especially for cyclists, and for providing pain relief and reducing soreness. The adjustable settings, including session time and pressure, are also well-received. However, some customers have mentioned that the boots run large and they had to size down.

I tore my meniscus, ruptured my ACL and damaged my cartilage on my right knee and tore the hamstring on the left through a myriad of injuries in 2022. Finishing the year with surgery on 12/20/22.
So what can you do help improve rehab and recovery?
Purchase these compression boots. They have been a game changer in reducing pain and inflammation. After a PT session or several hours of sitting at my desk, these have been incredibly in helping recovery.
Batteries lasts a few hours and recharges relatively quickly. Using them every day sometimes multiple times. FYI, connecting to the Bluetooth allows you adjust the preference settings and adjusts the hold time of the compression to 10 seconds when fully inflated. Makes a big difference vs. the default 5 seconds given.
I am 5’11, 225 lb and the mediums fit perfectly.

Portable and wireless leg muscle recovery

The Therabody RecoveryAir Jetboots is a completely wireless pneumatic compression system for your legs that comes in three sizes (small, medium, and large) that you select based on your height. Since I’m 5’4” tall, I chose the small size and each boot of this size weighs a little over 4 lbs. These boots use overlapping air chambers that inflate sequentially using a negative gradient, starting at your feet and moving up your leg up to the top of your thighs, and massage your muscles in a manner that promotes blood flow which mimics your circulatory system, directing it from your farthest extremities back towards your heart. The boots unzip the full length of the leg sleeve down to the top of the feet, using a smooth gliding and easy-to-grasp, large zipper-pull, making it easy to get into and out of them.
The boots come with a drawstring storage/carry pouch with divided compartments, and a compact 36W wall charger with a removable splitter that allows you to charge one or both boots simultaneously. This makes them quite easy to roll up and store or take with you on-the-go; if travelling by airplane, just keep in mind that they’ll take up a decent amount of space and weight capacity in a checked luggage. You can also use just one boot on its own, since they are identical and there isn’t a specific “left” or “right” boot, and this allows you to pack just one for travel and save space by using the same unit on both legs.
Since the controllers have integrated Bluetooth, they pair to each other automatically when powered on and changing the settings on one boot automatically switches the other boot to matching settings. This eliminates the need for you to set them individually. The Bluetooth function will eventually also allow you to pair the boots to a smartphone to use with the Therabody app for remote control and selection of recovery or warm-up modes, however, at the time of this review’s writing, the app does not yet have this functionality, and it is expected to rollout later in the spring of 2022.
What’s great about this compression system is that that are no cords, tubes, or wires hanging off of it, so you can use these almost anywhere. Each boot has its own integrated pump, battery, and 4-button controller and last up to 240 minutes on a full two-hour charge, though you can use them while they are charging, as well. However, you’ll want to use them on a bed or couch where you can comfortably stretch out your legs, as you won’t be able to use these in a seated position.
There are four different pressure settings you can select in 25mmHg increments from 25-100 mmHg. You can also select how long the massage session should last in 20 minute increments from 20-60 mins or set it to run continuously until you stop the program. Each inflation cycle takes around 50-75 seconds to reach your target pressure setting, and the decompression interval between inflation cycles is about 15 seconds. I found that one of my boots consistently takes 8-10 seconds longer to reach full inflation than the other, regardless of settings or which leg that unit is used on. The other thing to note is that the pumps do make some noise while operating, though I didn’t find that it was overwhelmingly loud when watching TV. It’s a droning buzz that’s actually somewhat soothing in a meditative way.
For me, I like to use the boots at 75 or 100 mmHg pressures as I find the 25 and 50 mmHg settings a bit too soft, and I generally use them in the evenings for 40 minutes before bed. At the maximum setting, the squeeze is tight enough that I can feel the blood pumping through my femoral artery, which is intense, but not painful. I feel that using the boots helps relax my sore leg muscles after training sessions, athletic activity, or even just a typical day from being on my feet for hours. The pressure and movement of the blood speeds recovery by flushing the metabolic waste from tired muscles, the same way traditional massages do. I’ve found that I have less soreness and muscle tightness the next day after using the boots compared with not having done any type of muscle recovery following vigorous physical activity.
The materials used in this boot are non-porous and medical grade, designed without any seams or overlapping fabric, to deter bacterial growth to prevent moisture and odor build-up. They should be cleaned and dried between uses by gently wiping down the inside with a disinfectant spray or wipe, then cloth dried or hung up using the loop at the top of each boot.
Overall, the Jet Boots are an effective ultra-compact, portable pneumatic compression system designed to target your legs for muscle recovery and warm-up, and the only minor drawback is that they’re not as customizable as, nor compatible with, Therabody’s other RecoveryAir compression garments. However, they’re optimized for travel and are easy to use, clean, and pack away.

Game changer, improved recovery time!

I was excited to try the Therabody RecoveryAir Jetboot. For reference, I train horses, so I spend hours riding, walking around the arena with other riders, and then more hours lifting, pushing, and pulling 100+ lbs doing barn chores. At the end of every day I am exhausted and experience intense muscle fatigue and soreness at least twice weekly. In the past I have turned to massage chairs, foam rollers, percussion massagers, and at times massage therapy. This review is based off of my first week use of these RecoveryAir boots.
I am 5'5", but my daughter who also rides is 5'6" so I went with the medium size boots based on height guidance. I found that they were slightly long for both of us, but fit my 6' husband well. The overall length wasn't a huge issue, as you don't need to zip the boot all the way to experience the same effects. I typically leave the top inch unzipped for optimal comfort.
In the box are two boots, a split charger to charge both simultaneously, and a travel bag. Setup is easy, open the charging port cover for each boot, plug in the split charger to each boot and the wall and walk away. There is a battery indicator on each boot controller to monitor charge status.
The boots have an air pump inside a hard plastic box at the bottom of the boot, attached outside of the fabric, and a rugged fabric up the boot with a well made zipper from toe to top for the closure. My favorite place to wear these boots is in bed, find a comfortable sitting position and then its very easy to put these boots on. Slide your foot in and zip up, you can wear them anywhere there is room to extend your legs straight. Each boot has its own controller just to the left of the zipper.
The boots are interchangeable for either side, and can operate alone or synchronized. Therabody got it right with the synchronization. I can turn on both boots, they will automatically recognize when two boots are present, and immediately pair. The controller has an indicator when both boots are recognized and paired so you only have to use one controller to have the same settings apply to both boots, which will then synchronize inflation cycles. There are two functions on the controller, the first is the pressure setting, which goes in quarter increments - 25, 50, 75, and 100 mmHg. This is important as you will want to adjust based on the intensity of compression required. The second setting is the time - 20, 40, 60 and continuous. When using the timer, the controller will show which 20 minute increment is left and flash when nearing completion. There is also a play/pause feature, and that is the extent of the controller.
My only single complaint is that the companion app is not yet ready, the website advises the app will allow you to connect via bluetooth. The app will also offer a recovery and warm up program, as well as a sequential inflation cycle that can be set by chamber. I think having the ability to control the length of time the compression is held would provide the most optimization for recovery.
As far as usage, these boots work by starting at the foot and slowly building pressure in each chamber, giving a uniform and steady compression up the leg, and then holding. Pending settings it typically takes around 2 - 2.5 minutes for the boot to fully inflate, and the decompression lasts about 30 seconds before starting to inflate the lowest chamber again. If you've tried compression boots before, you may have had to fight with the cables running everywhere. Another great feature is that these are cord free. There is no power cord, and the air lines from the pump to the chambers are attached to the boot via a channel of fabric that keeps the cords out of the way and damage free.
I estimate that a full charge lasts approximately 3 hours, but hard to know for sure when my daughter is always sneaking in to use them. Which leads to another favorite feature, these boots are so easy to clean. They are well made so no seams or crevices to get sweat or dirt in, the fabric can be wiped down with water or disinfectant and hung to dry using the loops on the back of the boot.
In summary I can't say enough great things, this has completely replaced other muscle recovery tools I have and reduces the time and pressure if I do use a foam roller. I am able to put in a full day of training, wear these for 40 minutes at night, go to bed, stretch, and use again in the morning for another 40 minutes. After this routine I have had zero soreness the next day and am able to perform at 100%.

I’m an athletic person, focusing mostly on running, cycling, yoga and intense walks. Last year I suffered an injury that affected most of my right side. I haven’t been able to run and cycle as much as I would like as I’m still in recovery and therapy. These boots are Godsend for me right now. I use these before I do anything and my legs can feel a difference.
I get a lot of stiffness and soreness in my joints and muscles and this has helped in the short time of use to alleviate the pain between my therapy and chiropractic visits. My right leg doesn’t feel as tired as it normally does just doing every day activities when I implement the boots first thing in the morning. I use them a minimum of two times a day.
From the initial setup which took me less than a minute to do both booths were linked and ready for use. It was terribly fast.
The digital display is clear and easy to read. Minimal buttons to control. Not many customization options but I don’t think that the options that are provided are lacking. I don’t need to control everything down to the minute. Having presets works great and it has a continuous mode so I can customize my time beyond 60 mins or anywhere in between the other preset times. I think the preset pressure options are great as well. I find 75mmHG to be my max and it feels great. I’ve fallen asleep with the boots on during several sessions. That’s how comfortable and relaxing the gentle pressure and massage feels.
I’m 5’8”, my spouse is 5’11” and the medium fits both of us great. However, my mom who visits frequently, could use this as well, is 5’6” and the boots reaches her a few inches past her bottom so we are unable to fit her as they will not zip up securely beyond her thighs. The size chart state it should fit her height. Maybe if your legs aren’t as long it doesn’t provide a great fit. So make sure you are paying attention to the height requirements based on size, as it’s important and if you’re on the lower/min end of the height requirement go down a size.
They seem to be almost too big but once the cycle starts to compress, you quickly realize the fit is perfect. They are roomy and I don’t even have to zip them down as I can easily slide each foot in them and securely. So far I have used them on the couch with no problems. I find it best to be sitting in an upright position with legs extended straight out and not bent.
The best feature of these boots… they are completely wireless. The only time a wire of sorts is introduced is to charge them. You can charge and use them independently of each other. Which is great if need be. I can control each boot from the digital component that’s located directly on the boot at the upper thigh area. One boot can control the other at the same time because they can connect to one another via Bluetooth. I love the ability to customize each leg independently and decide how much pressure is good enough for me.
The packaging also states that their will be an app coming soon. I’m hoping the app brings more features to these wireless boots. Although I don’t see using the app as much since the controls are literally at my fingertips, and if it doesn’t bring or offer much more to the table.
These are designed so well. They even come with a carrying bag for on the go. The bag could have been a bit sturdier or even easier to travel with, but I’m so glad that I have these and can take them every where. They are easy to roll up and store. If the price point isn’t an issue, I highly recommend getting these. The portability, ease of use, and pain relief capabilities is enough for me.

Wireless. Lightweight. Effective Recovery.

As someone who runs almost daily and bikes at least one a week, my legs are often sore. Since incorporating these JetBoots into my recovery routine, I have notice a dramatic decrease in soreness. Plus, after a long day's work (in an office), these are a great way to relax.
Overall quality of the JetBoots is fantastic. The fabric material is both flexible, comfortable, and easy to wipe down (which is super important). The boots as a whole seem reasonably lightweight.
Charging cable itself can only charge one boot. It does come with a cable attachment which basically splits the cable into two so you can charge both boots at the same time, which is super convenient.
There is a controller attached to each boot so you can use them together or individually. If you power on both boots, they will connect and you can use the controller on one boot to synchronize/operate both boots.
The boot controller is simple to understand and easy to use. Available controls are power, timer, pressure, and start/pause. Lower levels of pressure don't seem to do much for me, but the 75 to 100 settings feel more appropriate.
The boots come with an included storage/carrying bag. Once all the air has left the boots (after use), you can easily roll each boot up and store them in the bag.
I'm confident that the more I use these, especially as the weather gets warmer out and my running/cycling distance increases, I will be using these boots more and more. If you've been considering compression boots, the Therabody RecoveryAir JetBoots is something to highly consider.

Portable Whole Leg Recovery Massage

So I had the opportunity to test out recovery with these boots via three different activities in the last couple of days (skiing, pickleball, and running).
1. Overall first impressions were favorable. The boots came packed cleanly and opening the box you realize just how portable these boots will be. There is a nice semi-cushioned bag that both boots fit into and opening up the front of the box gets you the charging cords and a quick instruction set is included also. The instructions tell you to take the Y splitter and connect to the charging plug, then connect each end of the split into the front of the boots. The charging ports were easy to find and I had them out of the box and charging in a couple minutes.
2. Pulling them out of the bag, you realize you definitely need someplace to recline so your legs can be straightened. I've used them on the bed and laying across the length of the couch with my back against the armrest and both methods worked well. The first thing you notice when you pull them on is that there's probably a little slack at the top where you don't zip them up all of the way. (I had about 2 inches left to fully zip). This works just fine as the inflation doesn't cause any issues with the non-zipped portion.
3. Usage was easy, just pick your time, pick your intensity and then press the button to let it go to work. I didn't get the opportunity to try the smartphone app as it appears this is coming, but the remotes on each boot worked perfectly fine. They seem to sync up as I started it on one leg and both legs began the process. The overall experience was a calming massage that felt like it resulted in a similar recovery via using the theragun but I was just able to sit there and breathe and relax. Plus it covered the entirety of the calves, thighs, and feet without having to adjust.
So I tried it after each activity and knowing how legs usually feel after each activity the next day there was a marked improvement. Skiing I tend to use my calves a lot and the following day I generally would feel twinges climbing stairs, but I felt little discomfort after using the boots. Running I tend to feel the burn in different muscles groups and while I was still a little tender the next day, you could definitely tell a difference in how much faster the legs seemed to recover. Pickleball tends to pound my knees and ankles the most, so I couldn't say that this helped those areas albeit I will say my knees weren't twinging like they normally do so that may be a result of the increased blood flow after using these. Whichever way, I am now making these part of my day-to-day recovery efforts after any activity.
The nice thing about them is that there's no hoses and both boots easily fold up and go back into the bag without any trouble. I was able to throw them into my check-in bag so some other people with us could use them and they were MOST appreciative. They've got some weight to them, but definitely worth taking up a little space in the bag.

An Amazing Recovery Discovery!!!

What amazing tech!
I am in the gym 3-5 days a week doing HIT, strength and cardio training (in the form of 2-3 mile runs at a 10 minute mile) and on the mat 2-3 times a week ground fighting. Being physically fit is not just a life style but is a requirement for my job. Some days are better than other days in the gym and on the mat and a lot of that depends on my recovery from the day before.
I take hot showers and jet spa and that helps with the sore muscles and recovery. I also use kinetic tape and compression bands for knees, elbows …calves but up until now had never experienced the relief that can come from full pneumatic compression of my legs. It is truly amazing.
I don’t want to over state that claim though. The Jet Boots are truly amazing for sure, but recovery is still recovery and I have adaptive soreness, no matter how great a product is … it is not an instant fix but I have noticed and can feel REAL substantial improvements in noticeably shorter recovery times.
I have been using them for about a week now and have seen and more importantly felt a cumulative benefit in my recovery. I feel like athletic recovery has been overlooked in non-professional or non collegiate sports but Therabody is changing that. I love how there are no wires and I can take these to the gym, home and office easily. They have great battery life and super compact. I don’t know how they get such awesome compression in such a small package but it is amazing! Very powerful!
My first work out was squats ( I wanted to punish my legs to see what Therabody could do) followed by a 3 mile run. Ran the boots for 20 minutes post work out to flush the toxins and boost the blood flow to begin repairing muscle and oxygenating. IT FELT AMAZING…. I slid the boots on zipped the zipper and pressed the power button. I started with 75% pressure. It really compresses which is good! You need that to work the muscles and move the blood. I watched and felt the air begin to compress at the foot and work its way up my leg pressing blood from the bottoms of my legs to my heart then deflates and repeats. It was relaxing and messaged the muscles. I cranked the pressure up to 100 and could feel my heart beat in my legs like when a blood pressure cuff is on your arm tight. After 20 minutes I unzipped and rolled the boots up and put them in their nice stretchy case. The case stretches which makes it easier to get them into the bag to transport. I thought that even if it didn’t help my recovery it feels amazing! Any help in recovery would be a bonus.
Day two was really when I began to notice the benefit. I woke up and got out of bed and, at first did not think much about anything….just got up went into the shower and that’s when I noticed…hey, I am not nearly as sore as I usually am! I would say 30 percent less if I had to try to quantify. I wondered if it was a placebo effect but after using compression bands and kinetic tape I know the benefits of compression are real plus…not feeling the soreness was real!
That days work out was much more intense and productive than normal in part because my legs and body felt better! I did a circuit of body weights, kettlebell, pull ups with ran laps in between the sets and ended with a 3 mile run. I was really looking forward to getting those boots on and did another 20 minutes POST work. When I got home that evening from work, did another 20 minutes as I reclined on the couch….It was heaven! I felt like it took a couple of years off my age as far as recovery time goes.
Took the next day off and my legs felt great. Then hit it again. After a week I felt solid cumulative benefit. Both in better workouts and in less adaptive soreness. I am still sore, but what a difference Therabody has made. Awesome product! Imagine how much better your workouts could be if you felt 30 percent less soreness and blood flow in your legs was better and you improved your overall ability to work out harder and longer? WIN WIN WIN.
I also like the material in the boots…My buddies wanted to try it out as well after a work out….with the top grade medical fabric Therabody uses it wipes up really nice and clean with sanitizer!
Thank you Therabody! Highly recommend!

A Must Have

My wife and I are avid runners. We run 5-6 days a week, and distances fluctuate between 5k and half marathon runs. We try to fit in a long run every week. On average, we put in over 100 miles a month. I say this only to say that the JetBoots have 100% changed my recovery routine.
Before getting my hands on these JetBoots we were using either a roller or one of those massage guns. Those did a decent job of really loosening up muscle and helping with soreness, but not quite on the same level as these boots. The JetBoots are super easy to use. They can work independently or together. Each of the Boots has a control panel near the top, resting on your upper quad. As soon as I powered them up, they linked up and changing a setting on one of the boots also changed the setting on the other automatically. The controls are straightforward, you can adjust the time of the session, and the pressure. You have a button to power on/off, and one to start/pause the session. There is an app that you will be able to use with these boots, but their website shows that the app should be compatible with the boots this Spring. The app will allow you to make more granule adjustments, as well as having preset programs you can run.
Once you have the boots on and you have dialed in the pressure and time that you desire, you just sit back and let them to their job. We have used these while watching TV, they aren’t very loud at all. We have been using the 20-minute sessions at 50 pressure and that has worked wonders. My wife and I tried the boots a few times in the week that we’ve had them, after runs that lasted a little more than an hour. There is a definite noticeable improvement in the recovery of our legs, especially the day after. I have a long run coming up in a couple of days, should be a half marathon, and I know these will be great to recover after that run. We love how the pressure starts at the feet, moves around the calves, then to the quads, and finally near the hips. The boots then allow the pressure to build, and then release and starts all over again. Each inflation and deflation seem to last around a minute.
If you are active, especially doing long runs, biking, or any other activity that really wears on your legs, than these boots are a no brainer. We are so happy to add these boots to our recovery tools, and I can’t imagine not having this part of our routine now. Do your legs a favor and invest in these boots. They are an easy recommendation, and I am letting all my active friends and family know about them.

Great tool for recovery! I like to use this after intense activities on my legs and then follow up with a massage gun! My only thing is I wish it held a second or two longer at the top of the full compression but by the time I wish it would it’s already started again. Great cycles, fast decompression and re compression. I need a set of these for my arms and shoulders next.
