Therabody Sleep Mask for Relaxation on the Go

The Therabody Sleep Mask is a fantastic accessory for anyone looking to fall asleep faster using gentle vibration therapy. It specifically targets the areas around the eyes, temples, and forehead—areas that typically hold the most stress and tension. The science behind it is straightforward yet effective; the vibrations create soothing sensations that naturally relax the body, helping to slow down both heart rate and breathing, making it much easier to drift off into a peaceful sleep. Having tried several other (bulky) eye massaging devices to ease the strain from hours spent at the computer, I can confidently say that this mask stands out as it can work all night just like any other sleep mask. Its compact, travel-friendly design makes it not only great for home use but also an excellent companion on the go Features: • Design, Comfort, and Fit: The 100% blackout design blocks out light completely, ensuring uninterrupted sleep. The contoured shape and padding fit comfortably on all face shapes without putting pressure on the eyes or nose, making it perfect for overnight use. It’s lightweight, travel-friendly, and comes with a handy pouch. I particularly like how easy it is to maintain—the inner padding can be removed for cleaning, and I wash it and the pouch every few days while wiping the outer lining with alcohol wipes. • Vibration Therapy: There are three different vibration modes—Pulse, Wave, and Constant. I switch between them depending on how my day went and when I’m using it. It’s also become a go-to item for long flights, helping me recharge by reducing tension after hours of travel. • App: The Therabody app offers a variety of sound therapy routines that can be customized based on individual preferences - Travel/Sleep/Relaxation, Genre, and Time options. Overall, it’s a great sleep-inducing accessory for anyone with a busy lifestyle who’s looking for quick relaxation and a better night’s rest. My only wish is for the battery to last a bit longer. As a daily user, I find myself having to charge it more frequently than I’d like, but that’s a minor trade-off for the benefits it offers

--- SETUP --- Setup is extremely easy. Just open the box, plug in the included USB C cable, charge, and begin to use that same night. --- FEATURES --- 100% light blocking, USB C rechargeable device, 3 vibration settings with one-button touch, comfortable, easy to wash, light, and portable. --- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE --- I’ve never been one to use sleep masks, as I always imagined they would be uncomfortable. However, the Therabody Sleepmask with vibration may have just made me a believer. For starters, the mask is very comfortable. Once you put it on, you can adjust the strap, which itself is comfortable on the sides of your head. I wear glasses daily. The way that I put the strap is to wear it between my ears and my head, like the feet of the glasses. In this manner, the strap is not uncomfortable. Once on, the mask really does a great job at blocking all light sources. I tried it the first night intentionally leaving the light on. I told myself I would get up and turn it off after I tested it with the lights on. Turns out, I fell asleep and the lights stayed on all night. Since it was completely dark for me, the lights didn’t bother me. When my bedroom is actually dark, small light sources like the light outside the window or blue and red lights that emit from our technology are even easier to mask. The mask itself has a button that, when pressed, will turn on 3 vibration settings. The first in a single non-stop vibration, the second is pattern vibration, and the third is a vibration from low vibration to high vibration. All were comfortable to try, but my favorite was the steady vibration, as the noise and consistency of it allowed me to keep my mind clear of other things, allowing me to sleep faster. To wash, the layer of the mask that touches our face can be easily removed so that it can be tossed in the washing machine. There is a magnet inside of the mask that allows you to perfectly align the removable layer again with the vibration machine. You do not need the app to use the device. In fact, the app itself doesn’t connect to the facemask at all. Instead, the app just provides music as a complementary additive to your sleep routine. I only tried it once, but I find music distracting, so the vibration and sound of the vibration were enough for me. --- APPROVAL --- Overall, this mask has made me a converter and I plan to take it with me wherever naps are necessary. Airplanes, car rides, or even the occasional nap at work will help give me a sensation that I am in the dark. The vibration is a great way to lull anyone to sleep, so I recommend the mask to anyone who might find themselves in any of the situations above.

Well designed, but limited in features and comfort

Since I own several Therabody devices, and wear a sleep mask every morning due to some bright bedroom skylights, I was excited to try this mask out… Largely I was looking for an upgrade on comfort, but I was also enticed by what Therabody might achieve in a connected device. First things first, this isn’t really a connected device, nor a smart device. It works on its own and opens a range of pleasant sound-only sessions from the app. Unlike a Theragun, you cannot control the level of vibration from the app, nor do these sessions provide unique vibrations in coordination with the sounds you’re hearing. This alone is a bit of a let down, but their marketing is clear enough that it’s not really ‘smart,’ per se… __Limited Features__ That aside, the vibrations provided do seem like they could help relax you if left to run long enough. As other reviewers have said, you can somewhat hear the vibrations more than feel them through the cushion around your eyes. At times I found myself wanting a bit more, or more attention closer to my eyes to relieve eye strain, but vibrations primarily resonate at your forehead area. Had this tool been smart and allowed more variety from the app… or more control over the vibration style and strength, I think it would be more successful for me. Surely too much vibration would cause a headache, so I can’t fully knock them on this - longer sessions at lower vibrations may be enough. __Comfort__ I had some issues with making these both secure and comfortable. No matter how I placed it, I could not avoid having the strap in conflict with my ears. Placing it above either caused pressure on the top of my ears (like a N95 used to) - or - if placed where I’d prefer the strap to go, caused the lower portion of the eye cushion to slide up into my eyes. To their credit, the side straps have a portion of soft material that can lay over your ears before the strap begins. I managed to get something ok for me by simply making the mask looser than preferred and allowing this padded strap area rest on my ears. I’m a side sleeper and was never able to fully make it work enough to wear all night. Early on in my use, the removable foam pad (which is surrounded by fabric) had a significant chemical smell, despite doing the suggested initial cleaning. This concerned me a bit, especially knowing how foam was proponent in a recent major CPAP, health-related recall. It’s not the same issue here, and it did eventually air out after 7 days, but I surely noticed it, causing me to limit my initial use of this mask. __Better for Naps, IMO__ That brings me to my next point, I see this more as a nap or relaxation tool. I don’t think I’ll try using it for sleep anymore at this point, instead I see the benefit for shorter naps, where maybe the sound sessions from the app could encourage relaxation. __Overall Impressions__ In the end, I see the appeal of a mask like this, but it still seems to miss the mark... for me at least. I was never fully able to make it comfortable and secure enough for night sleep. For naps, I look forward to continuing to use it with the various relaxing sound options, which while simple, seem well produced. For some, this may truly help them sleep, but that isn’t my issue. I can sleep, but need to block out light. These do provide a true black-out, but better personalized comfort and an app controlled version of these would go further for someone like me. ***Good Stuff*** - Well designed to keep vibration components padded and out of the way of sleep poses - Soft and flexible - Lightweight - Wide, full blackout of light - Removable, washable eye pad. - App sounds are well produced, good for relaxation - Light vibration created seems to reduce forehead stress if allowed to run for at least 10 mins ***Less Than Good Stuff** - Strap was hard to make both secure and comfortable at the same time. - Not smart, no app control beyond providing a name. - App sounds do not provide unique vibrations, only sound. - Vibrations can be a bit too weak, no way to make them stronger when you have less time. - Vibrations originate too far away to help with eye strain muscles.

I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. so I was anxious to try this Therabody Sleep Mask to improve my sleep. I own a few Therabody products and in general am pleased with their quality. This Sleep Mask is no exception - it is well-made. However, it is very important to read the directions and to follow the instructions with regard to cleaning the mask before the first time you use it. The rinse water from hand washing the mask was almost black. Here is how I would summarize my experience with this Theramask: PROS: 1) As I said, it is of high quality and should last a long time. 2) It is large enough to blackout all light on my average-sized face. Every face is different, and I do not know that this mask comes in different sizes, so if you head/face is on the large size, this mask may not block all the light out. CONS: 1) It is not as comfortable as I would want it to be for me to wear it every night. My biggest complaint is with the positioning of the straps. They come across my ears, which is not where I would want to wear it all night, so I had to make it rest right aove the top of my ear, putting pressure on that sensitive place. Also, when I slept on my side, which I often do, the mask would be pressed against the mattress and move, creating some discomfort. I believe it is best used by people who sleep only on their back. 2) Of the three vibration schemes, I found only one calming, the constant buzz. The other two - the heartbeat and the wave patterns - I found to be more annoying and keeping me from sleeping than aiding it. 3) The vibration is not strong enough for me to consider it "massage therapy." It is loud, but not strong. 4) Overall, I found that it did help me get to sleep faster, but with an annoying side effect - as soon as it stopped vibrating, I would wake up. This defeats the purpose of having a sleep aid. I understand why you would not want it going all night as it would wear down the battery charge. This effect may not be the same for everyone, but for me it is enough to make me stop using it.

I mostly sleep on my back (rarely on either side) and have always had trouble falling asleep (mainly due to tinnitus and lots of thoughts from the day running through my head) and sometimes staying asleep. Hence, my curiosity about a "sleep helper", such as the "Therabody - SleepMask with Vibration Therapy". I wanted to explore if such a mask could make a difference for people like me. In summary: It did, and it didn't. It helped me greatly to relax, especially after a long day of work with my eyes strained due to computer work with multiple monitors, but it didn't do anything to make me fall asleep faster. This is not to say that it might help other people, though. The Sleep Mask works entirely without the app, but you would miss out on all the relaxing and peaceful music and white and pink noises of various lengths between 7 - 21 minutes which you can get through other apps, too, but they all charge for it. You get to use this app with the sleep mask. The music/sound/noise sound therapies are: (1) Peaceful Soundscapes; (2) Restful Sleep; (3) Soft Background Noise; (4) Relaxation and Stress Reduction; (5) Travel and Decompression; and (6) Guided Meditation. The app also includes a 3-part video tutorial of about 1 minute each, which complements the provided user manual. The Sleep Mask's magic revolves around relaxing vibrations that massage the eyes area to help clear your mind. You can choose from "Gentle Pulse Low/High", "Slow Rise and Fall Wave Low/High", and "Constant/Steady Rhythm Low/High". The settings are only controlled through the mask's single button, and not through the app, and as such, it takes some getting used to remembering how many times to push the button to set one or the other vibration mode. I personally found the mask super-comfortable and soft, and it does provide total blackout, which comes in very handy for lighted settings (e.g. street lights you can't block out) and travel. There is also still room enough to open/blink with your eyes so you won't feel claustrophobic or anything. I experienced no "light leakage" when wearing the mask. Though I enjoyed the relaxing and peaceful music, it would be better if it came through the mask and not a smartphone close by, which can be irritating. The vibration is audible, and as such might disturb your partner lying next to you. In conclusion, I am giving this mask 4 points as it really gets the job done relaxing me and relaxing my eyes. I sometimes use it between meeting breaks, just for 15 minutes, and it does make a difference in making it through a workday without too much stress. I didn't count on it to be helpful in the falling asleep department. As such, I am giving this mask well-deserved 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone who seeks relaxation first.

I was really excited to try the new Therabody sleep mask, as somebody who likes to sleep in, and has a problem doing that with the sunlight that pours into my bedroom through the window in the mornings. I was also eager to try out the vibration feature which is supposed to be sleep-inducing and promote falling to sleep more quickly. Using those features, along with the sound therapy, sound content available in the Therabody app, I figured this mask was going to greatly improve my sleep. The mask comes neatly packaged in a nice cardboard box with instructions on the backside of the box lid, along with a well-written and easy to read user manual. Also included is a really nice travel pouch, a USB-C charging cable and an insert telling you to wash the mask before your first use. I was surprised to see that the mask was washable, since it's electronic, but it’s not the full mask that gets washed, it's the detachable eye liner, which actually touches your face, along with the travel pouch. The other part of the mask, that houses the electronics, can only be gently wiped down with a cloth if it gets dirty. The instructions recommend washing it weekly, or as often as you wash your bed sheets. So, I peeled the eye liner away from the sleep mask and put it in the wash along with the travel pouch. Using this mask didn’t last long for me. I tried it multiple nights, but I just can’t get used to it. I thought the vibration was going to be a really great feature, but after trying all the settings, I’ve found that I can barely feel it on my face. Maybe it’s designed that way on purpose, but for me, I wanted more vibration, something I could actually feel. Beyond that, I was also disappointed by the sound the vibration makes. I found it to be annoying and something that I became focused on, which wasn’t good at all. With that being said, their app provides some really good, soothing, and comforting sounds that kind of help to mask the sound of vibration, but not much. They aren’t very loud, even with the volume all the way up, and if you, like me, sleep with a fan going, you won’t be able to hear the app very well. Another issue I had with this mask is that my face gets too warm while I’m wearing it for more than half an hour or so. I have another, low-cost sleep mask that is black silk, and that one doesn’t get warm at all, compared to the Thearbody Sleep Mask. One other issue I had is that my head is pretty big and I had to fully extend the strap to fit me, which is okay, but I still feel like it’s just a little tight. I like to wear my other sleep mask loosely so that I can barely feel it’s there. And finally, the slider on the strap is hard, rigid plastic. I feel bad for anyone with a smaller head who has to feel that thing on the back of their skull while trying to sleep on their back. Theramind should have made the adjustable slider out of a soft silicon material, not a hard plastic. I will say that the mask liner itself is very soft, and comfortable, it just misses the mark for me. And at this price, I should be able to adjust the intensity of vibration, so that I can actually feel it, which you cannot do. But even if that were an available feature, the sound of the vibration would still bother me. This mask will probably be great to use when traveling, because the noise of the plane will drown out the vibration noise and the warmth of the fabric would be okay since the plane get’s cold, but for sleeping at home, it’s not something I’ll be using unfortunately.

###Disclaimer: I am not a professional, all the information and recommendations that I have provided is what I has worked for me or those around me. If you feel like you suffer from Insomnia or any other sleep disorder, please seek help from a professional. ### ***PROS*** -Straight forward, and straight to the point. -3 vibration modes with a High/Low variation each -Breathable fabric that will not make your face sweat -Complete Blackout/Helps with Dry Eyes ***CONS*** -A bit uncomfortable if you are side sleeper -No vibrations customization/control through the app Alright now with the review. (The Purpose) The way this mask must be seen is like a tool, it won’t solve the issue but will help providing a better sleep depending on the person. There are many factors that might be affecting your sleep. One factor could be your bed, another could be your diet, and another could be even your sheets or air quality. Just keep in mind that this a tool, not the solution. With that in mind, let me share my thoughts. The complete blackout definitely helps if you have a lot of lights inside your room, or if your partner watches TV or is on their phone while you try to sleep. Pair this mask up with some sleeping headphones, and you will be able to block any light and sound specially if you are a light sleeper. I also feel like this mask would help people that work graveyard shift and have a hard time falling asleep. Another cool thing about this mask is that if you suffer from Dry Eyes it will help with keeping the moisture longer. The vibration feature helps relax the face, specially after a stressful day at work when you feel like your face is all tense. In the mask you do get 3 options, pulse, wave, and constant, each with 2 variations. Pair these features with a good post face wash and some supplements such as magnesium glycinate and you will have one of the best sleeps you’ve had in a while. Personally, the only thing I had issues with is sleeping on my side with this mask on. It was a bit uncomfortable and ended up taking it off mid sleeping session. Also, the app does offer some ambient noise, they even offer the sound of a fan lol, but I wish they could offer a bit more customization when it comes to the vibration patterns. (The Mask) The front of the mask is made from a blue kind of satin fabric with padding underneath, which will be easy on the skin and any other material it touches. The other side of mask is made from the same material but perforated and gray. The cushion on the front seems to be made from memory foam, which helps keep the area cool. The inside part seems to be just regular cushion with a deep padding, so you won’t rub your eyes against the fabric. The inside part can be separated from mask for washing purposes, and it is not held off together with Velcro, it seems to be though magnets or a different way, but I see it as a plus. The vibration unit is located on the front side and does not feel uncomfortable unless you sleep upside down or at an angle to where your face adds pressure. (What is Included) +The Mask +Charger +Manual +Travel bag +Prewash Instructions The manual shows how to troubleshoot the mask if it ever comes to that and washing information and how to remove the liner, (Overall Thoughts) Overall, this is a great tool. If you want to improve your sleep quality, and or want a complete blackout with a massage while you fall asleep, I would definitely recommend this mask. But just as I mentioned earlier this is just a tool, not the solution if you suffer from any sleeping disorder.

I have other Therabody products and I have always found them to be very high quality. I have worn sleep masks for years. So when I saw that Therabody had released the new Therabody SleepMask I was very anxious to try it. In the box you get the sleep mask, a usb charging cable, a nice storage case, and a complete users manual. The SleepMask appears to be made of high quality materials, and is very thick and padded. The first thing that you are instructed to do is to wash the interior panel of the SleepMask. This interior panel is easy to attach and reassemble as it is held in place by a magnet. Therabody states that it should take about 8 hours for this panel to dry. However, I found that it took about 20 hours to completely dry even after squeezing all of the water out. At the top of the SleepMask is a usb-c charging port and the power button which also cycles through the various vibration modes. This button is located within easy reach and is simple to operate. The instructions state that the straps were designed to go above the ears. This simply does not work. If you place the straps above the ears there is a constant upward pressure on the mask and it eventually slides up into your eyes. I have woken up with the thick foam border of the mask pushing against my eyes. I find that the recessed area provided for your eyes is too narrow and the thick border is too wide. I can get the mask on more comfortably by placing the straps over my ears, however I still wake up with the thick borders pushing against my eyes. I sleep both on my back and on my side and when I roll to my side is apparently when the mask moves and puts pressure on my eyes, again due to the narrow recessed area. There are 3 vibration modes that can be cycled through by pressing the power button. There is Pulse, Wave, and Constant. Each mode has 2 speed settings. These vibrations were designed to relax you and put you in a state where it is easier to fall asleep. Unfortunately, I have found them to be disturbing in both the feeling of the vibration as well as the sound it makes. I thought I would get used to it after a few days, but that is not the case. I find them to not only be useless, but they actually disturb me as I am trying to get to sleep. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product.

While this mask does provide 100% blackout capabilities, is lightweight, has a removable and washable inner layer; just about everything else about the mask needs improvement. Both my wife and I tested this mask and it was not comfortable on either of our faces. The nose area likely needs less material on it, as when the vibration feature is active, I can only feel the vibrations running down my nose. For my wife, the vibrations also run down her nose but she feels it in her teeth as well. Neither of us seem to feel the vibrations anywhere by our eyes or forehead. We did reach out to Therabody support, and they promptly sent us some suggestions to try (loosen the mask, place the mask higher on your face/forehead so the band is well above the ears) but none of those suggestions seemed to properly divert the vibration back to either of our eye areas. If you are a side sleeper, this mask will not stay on and isn't comfortable. It seems to only stay in position if you lay on your back. When I did reach out to Therabody support, I did ask if they can consider adding a heat feature to this mask (and having less material around the nose) and they did say that they would consider both of those items moving forward. We own a $20 sleep mask that has both vibration and heat and overall seems to work better than this $100 mask. Also, there is the Therabody app that can be downloaded and will eventually have a feature released to play calming music with this mask, but that feature will not be released until the end of October, so I have not been able to try or connect to the app with this mask. For now if you are looking for a mask that does more than just vibration, you might need to look at their Smart Goggles, visually the googles have less material in the nose area and is likely more comfortable; or wait to see if more of these usable features come out in future releases? If I spent money on this mask, I would have definitely taken it back for a refund. Swing and a miss for both me and my wife.

When I got the SleepMask I was interested in trying both the massaging features and music. Needless to say that I was disappointed in both. However, let's start with the positive aspects of this mask. On the positive side it is relatively comfortable to wear. The cushioning is in the right place so it doesn't bother you if you are a side sleeper. If you tend to sleep on your stomach, I don't think it would be a good fit for you since there is a hard plastic piece on the mask (charging port and electronic controls) that may be uncomfortable. Another positive is the part of the mask that touches your face can be removed and washed in a washing machine with your other laundry. The mask does a good job of keeping the light out. You don't get any light coming in through the sides even when moving around. Unfortunately, those are the only things I liked about this mask. The massage function is relatively noisy and isn't that noticeable. My wife could barely feel the vibrations and the noise from the unit kept her awake. I didn't have a problem with the noise, but I didn't see much value in the massage feature which is supposed to be one of it's selling points. There are six different vibration modes to choose from by clicking the single power and selection button on the top of the unit. The second feature that I was looking forward to trying was the sleep sounds. When I received the Sleep mask, I thought it had a built in speaker that would play the music. Unfortunately, all you get is an app that plays music from your phone. You could do that for free by searching online for sleep music. The app includes about 50 different recordings you can pick from for soothing sounds, but only two of them are over 20 minutes long. Overall, I would not recommend the SleepMask considering the price of the product and the value it provides.

I was excited to get his product as my sleep patterns often are during the day time or on during airplane travel. First off this mask is super comfortable and completely blocks out all the light. Over the week of trying out this product I used it on a 4 hour flight and helping catch some very valuable sleep quickly. The mask didn’t move during the flight. Secondly I used it at the hotel each night to fall asleep coupled with their app. The app provided soothing tones that weren’t distracting. Instead they amplified the relaxation and help me fall asleep rather quickly. The fabric didn’t leave any noticeable marks on my face while I slept. I woke up feeling refreshed and having a much deeper sleep due to the complete darkness as it was super bright outside. Zero light coming in was very nice as the hotel room had light coming in, but the mask blocked that all out. The mask has held up really well and I actually noticed I hadn’t tossed or turned but remained in the position I went to bed in. The mask modes for sleep are a welcomed addition. Use the therabody for a more personalized approach. The app has a wealth of relaxing sounds to relax and destress to while falling asleep.

I really wanted to like this sleep mask, but I cannot recommend it. It’s well made and the fit is comfortable. The issue is with the vibrating feature. I found it difficult to get it to switch between different vibrating modes and I really didn’t like any of them. Additionally, the vibration is felt a lot more on the front side and top of the mask, rather than against your face. The biggest issue is that the vibrations are incredibly loud and there is no way I could sleep with that racket. I will be returning these.

I was under the impression these came with the same eye warmer as their Smart Googles but it only pulses. It's nice that you can use the app with this and it pairs seamlessly. I love the space for your eyes so you can blink with them on and it does have true black out. This is great for traveling.

Comfortable for a side sleeper. Highly recommended for those who want a better night’s sleep. I don’t use the massage function too much, but when I do it’s a comfortable feeling. Function shuts off after a few minutes, intended to help you get to sleep without worrying about it on all night.

I have been getting the best sleep ever since I bought this eye mask! The vibrations are very subtle as to not disturb my partner and I fall asleep faster than ever!

The concept of this is great. I looked forward to it and the benefits. My issue with it is the way it sits on my face the vibrations on my eyes made me feel the way a massive room spinning hangover makes me feel. That is my only issue with this, the blackout part of it is great I cannot see anything when it's on my face. If it weren't for the way these vibrations made me feel this would be 5 stars.

I have their TheraGoggles too, which are a more immersive experience, but you cannot sleep in them. These are very comfortable to sleep in, and I love that you can wash the insert. The vibrations are similar to TheraGoggles, but not the same experience. You can also pair them with the app and listen to soothing music, but then you have to sleep in your earbuds.
