Love having 2 'internal' (*cheaper* than external) hard drives for that extra storage space. Additionally, have a HD that I use Bootcamp for my Mac for Windows. Works great, speeds are great, highly recommend. Only bad thing is its a bit bulky and a can be a pain to take with you. Also, can't use it without a plug.

This is a great product for accessing and formatting loose hard drives. It will fit 2.5" and 3.5" drives. My only complaint is that if you have 2 drives loaded and try to eject only one it usually ejects the other prompting an eject error warning.

I had the original single Black X that wasn't USB 3 capable. This Double Black X is much more convenient and fast. allows use of both 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 hard drives. 2 at a time for easy fast transfer of data

I bought this nice little unit to clone a drive and also to recover data out of a broken computer it was so easy to use and it was absolutely perfect for my use The hard drives just slide in like a video game cartridge the computer automatically recognizes the drive and gives you very very fast access to the contents of the drive utilizing USB 3.0 going from drive to drive is extremely fast as well What I mean by this is actually installing 2 hard drives whether they be 3.5 or 2.5 laptop drives you can actually copy drive to drive clone the drive to another drive and this all happens extremely fast Fine I'm very happy with the purchase and I would definitely recommend

I was a fan of these HardDrive docks, but I've come to understand why many people call these type of cradles HardDrive Toasters. Drives to get awfully hot when seated in operation for extended periods. But the biggest issue is that I've had two units both die, just simply won't connect with USB-3. Sometimes USB-2 would work, but that obviates their "high speed" back-up/clone function. So no, seek out a different brand. I've found some great ones with USB-3 ports on the front. Sorry Thermaltake.

Instead of buying enclosures for external drives this works good. IMPORTANT: Have to remember to wait for about a minute after inserting drive for it to be fully recognized.

Easy, fast, solid, portable with USB3. Perfect for use with any drive physical size. I've used older internal with laptop SSD drives simultaneously. If you've got older drives from machines you want to upgrade and want to copy your data or use as a backup and don't want to build an enclosure this makes your older drive like a thumb drive. With USB 2/3 capable it works great for docking a desktop terabyte or two drive as backup. With 2 docking stations, you can put your videos/photos/documents on one drive, backup or other use on the other. This solid manufacturing works great is fast and reliable. Have to physically plug into a wall. Great for extending your Disk Space.

The drives get very hot when transferring information to them. A fan would be nice to keep them cool. It work as advertised. I was able to move files from one hard drive to another without any problems.

The external drive holder is convenient for copying files. But I have found it is impossible to boot from a drive which is inserted into the slot. That is disappointing.

I have used the Thermaltake Duet Hard Drive Enclosure Docking Station to transfer data from my old computer without any problems, and have also used it for several other old SATA drives of various sizes, and vintages, without incident. It could not read one 2TB drive, but nothing else has been able to either, but I am still hopeful because (using this docking station) I once was able to persuade the bad drive to let me see a list of folders on the drive. This is a good device to keep in your computer tool kit.

I have used previous versions of this device for years with no issues but wanted dual drive capability and USB 3.0. Purchased my first one about a year ago. After 8 or 9 months my docked drives started dropping. If I power cycled it everything would come back up. As time passed this happened more often until finally it wouldn't work at all. The new one is working fine for now.

First, be aware that because of the technology, hot swap works but it does re-mount both drives any time one is attached or removed. Once past this, the dock is fast, easy to use, consistent without dropping out or other USB foibles, and has just been a nice simple and effective way to manage my disks when I want to manage my network raid array or just transfer to a new disk for updating to a larger size. It has even been useful for wiping my drives on the way to the recycler. It's a super useful tool that doubles the ability of the flimsy single drive options while having a much more robust build quality.
