Did excatly what I needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Old PC crashed and needed to transfer the old hard drive. The associate at Best Buy said this device was a much better choice than having Geek Squad try to recover the hard drive. I removed the hard drive and plugged it into my laptop and was able to access all the items that I needed to save. Now I am getting ready to try and transfer our old old PC that stopped working 4 years ago and see if I can save the data on it as well.

AMAZING!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So i work on computers as a side hobby. I had someone ask me to recover the data from a hard drive in a computer that no longer wanted to turn on. This device is such a god send for those situations. When the computer itself is pretty much done and you need to get the info from a still working hard drive its best to get it straight from the source. Not only does it hold two drives at once, it will hold both sizes of drives. Desktop or Laptop. It is usb 3.0 compatible and speeds are great. Also theres literally such minimal set up for it, its so easy to use. If you work repairing computers, i would say this is a must have. Also for those a little more advance it does also help, with a third party program, to clone full hard drives.

Excellent product for low to medium use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product performs well with only a few issues with some Western Digital drives (the WD Blue on some models appear to have a locking tab on the smaller connection which does not fit the device). Other than that, device acquisition is fast and I have been able to read every device I've attached to it.

Works great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to test out hard drive problems because I got tired of having to open my case and plug it into my system. This device works great. I can plug in up to 2 drives at a time and I can swap them with ease. I'm giving this 4 stars because the only feature I wish it had was individual on/off switch for each drive slot.

Exactly what I needed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an older PC that the power supply was zapped by an electrical surge. The hard drive held many important documents and pictures and we didn't have a backup. So I purchased this item, removed the hard drive from the zapped PC and attached to our current PC. We now have access to all the information on this hard drive. Really helped us out and was also cheaper than buying a new power supply.

Great Solution for Backups
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because my current USB/SATA would not properly read GPT drives. This is a quality Thermaltake product, that although plastic, feels sturdy and looks attractive on your desk. -Reads GPT disks -Double bay, so you can do disk to disk transfer -USB 3.0 so very fast -Just works right out of the box!

Works as it should.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had two hard drives fall off a desk and the connections were the only things that got messed up. The Geek Squad guy suggested this to put them in and connect to my computer. It worked like a charm and I was able to keep using the hard drives. I am happy with it.

Great docking station.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love that this docking station can handle multiple drives. It transfers over USB which is nice, but the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is because I wish it was FireWire 800. But it helps with quick backups without having to change out hard drives in an additional enclosure.

Son likes it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my son who needed to transfer files from a failing desktop computer. He was able to transfer the files to another hard drive. It was faster than other options...

Simple solution I should have tried first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my PC crashed after a Win10 update, I jumped thru hoops to try to save my HDD. Several calls to Microsoft always ended the same way: You have to reinstall Windows, which meant wiping the HDD and doing a clean install. I had too much on the drive to risk losing, and I knew if I could access the drive I could salvage my data. Long story short, ended up buying a new PC, SSD, new HDD, and this external docking station. The docking station was as simple to use as a thumb drive! Once I got my new PC up & running I was able to copy all of my data from my old HDD to my new HDD with basic copy & paste functions. I LOVE it! I recommend this if you have older SATA drives you need to get data off of or use multiple SATA drives not installed internally.

Great product. Very simple to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old computer crashed and I needed to remove the hard drive and recover the data. This product was easily available at my local Best Buy. Just plugged my hard drive into it then plugged it into my USB on my laptop and bam! I had full access to my old computer.

much more stable than a usb-to-sata connector
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The stand makes it easy to connect the drive, and the vertical position uses gravity to keep the drive in place. When I used usb-to-sata connectors before, they would come loose from time to time because they're just hanging onto the drive by the connectors, this design makes the drive connection stable and I haven't had any issues.

Adds USB 3 and Support for Higher Capacity Drives
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had earlier been very satisfied with the performance of the USB 2 version of this device, but am delighted that the new version provides USB 3 support and the capability to support SATA drives with capacities greater than 3 TB. I am now able to use a pair of 4 TB SATA drives to satisfy all of my current backup needs.

Great way to access a hard drive from a dead PC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of my old PCs would no longer boot up and I knew I had some stuff on the hard drive that I could no longer access. The BlacX came to my rescue. Once I had removed the internal drive from the computer and put it in the connected BlacX, I was able to successful copy the files easily and reasonably quickly.

A versatile tool
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use it in a couple different ways. (1) to store large video projects Each project gets it's own disk, without an external case. This saves me money on cases as well as space. (2) I do disk recovery for my friends and family. I pull their old disk from their system and mount it in the dock, extract the data to a second disk, trash the bad disk and give them a good one with their data on it. (3) I have an Apple Macintosh computer and run TimeMachine to a disk placed in each slot. TimeMachine will alternate between them doubling the chance if things go south on my system drive I will have at least one good backup. When both disks are full I pull them and start a new pair. The old pair gets stored. PS store one offsite just in case your problem is something like a house fire or flood.

Works Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do a lot of side work with computer repair and also play around with a network home lab. I had been meaning to pick up a hard drive dock and when I seen this one it was perfect. I was also able to get locally which is a bonus. So far it has worked perfect and would highly recommend.

Saved me so I could pull files
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed this because my machine would not pass post on boot up. I pulled the drive because i knew it was still spinning up. Connected it to my laptop and it mounted and I was able to pull everything I needed. I continue to use this drive in the BlacX Duet. It was worth every penny! Setup was a breeze.

Works as advertised. Dependable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was an impulse buy that allows me to use extra sata hard drives that were just laying around. I can insert and remove them easily and they stay off the desk and out of the way. It would be nice if there was a way to use old IDE drives as well but that's not a criticism.
