Just drop in your hard drive and plug in the USB cable and you are up and running. You have full access to the hard drive (or two hard drives) just like it was a flash drive. Quick and easy setup that works.

Disk Eject is kind of rough

I owned the USB 2.0 version of this before moving to the 3.0 and both work very well. My only issue is that either the eject mechanism on the 3.0 is not very good or the disk slots are cut just a fraction of an inch too small for full size hard drives as they are somewhat hard to pull out of the slot.

This machine saved my butt. When my laptop died I wasn’t sure how I’d get the data off my HDD because it was still good and I need the info. This handy usb machine did the trick. Very easy to use and setup

I had to do some data recovery on a large stack of SATA drives, both 2.5 and 3.5" sizes. I saw this on the shelf and thought this would really speed up the process, and I was right to a degree. The hard drives plugged right in sort of like cartridges might fit in a video game system. Under both Windows and Linux the hard drives were recognized immediately and I began the task of performing recovery on several drives. Because the interface is USB, speed will be at the mercy of your host system. Use USB 3.0 and you can expect pretty nice throughout, but if you plug into a somewhat older host controller you're in for some pretty slow transfers. Still, this is convenient when you have to work with several physical bare drives. Also useful for making mirror images of important drives. Value for cost is relative, but if you have a lot of valuable data and several drives to work with I think the price is fair given the convenience provided by this docking station.

I'm constantly swapping out drives creating virtual machines and this docking station is, hands-down, the easiest and fastest method I've ever used. My only regret is that I didn't purchase this sooner.

This helped me save my DirecTV DVR

My DirecTV DVR hard drive crashed and the lovely service people at DirecTV told me that for all my loyalty, I owned it and that I needed to pay to replace it AND have it installed. While deciding who to replace DirecTV with, I discovered that there was an eSATA port on my DVR. I bought this device to convert my extra external SATA drives to eSATA and try one on my broken DVR. It worked!

I had some hard drives left over that I wanted to use but didn't want to spend a ton on a enclosure. Usb 3.0 works as advertised and with the price match I got it for $25. Works with ssd drives to.

This beauty will allow you to dock two SATA drives. Use those SATA drives as backup, cloning or wiping. Or for data recovery from a dead system. Or Ghost drives... Via USB 3.0. As an IT technician this comes in handy, I can attempt to recover files from a fried system by hard drive alone. Or use an image to quickly restore a legacy system from backup. You need this.

I was able to plug it in and add two drives with no problems. Simple to use, no drivers to set up. I like the fact that it handles both 3.5 and 2.5 drives. The hot-swappable feature is very helpful.

This USB device allows you to access 1 or 2 SATA drives by inserting them. You don't need to install the drives internally in your computer. You can even access these desktop drives from a laptop.

Turns out you need to push on the HDD indicator lights to cycle power. I don't remember seeing that in the instructions but I was probably half asleep when I tried setting it up to begin with. If you have newer hard drives they should slide in and eject just fine. I had an older one that looked like it fit but was slightly larger than most apparently. I had to pull it out by force instead of using the eject button. But it works great otherwise.
