My existing 850W PSU gave up the ghost after 5 months. I needed something locally available with preferably more wattage headroom and fortunately this was available at BB. After installation it has been running perfectly. I went further and upgraded to a 4070 Super GPU since this is ATX 3.0 ready and came with the necessary cable. So far, so good.

So far so good. I had an old version of the 1050w Toughpower for about 12 years and it served me well. 1050W should be enough even for a beefy RTX5090 gaming PC.

Just warning you all this is NOT the GOOD HKC Original variant of the GF A3 all the old reviews like toms/etc look positively on that came out in 2023/early 2024, this is for the FAR worse part/OEM swapped CE-Link replacement GF A3 that is a way worse buy, this psu just isn't worth it period sadly due to that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DWWMnKrCKk - Warning HWbuster/Cybenetics video review on the new 2024 launch units this is actually now for https://hwbusters.com/psus/thermaltake-toughpower-gf-a3-750w-atx-v3-1-psu-review/ - HWbusters Article review going over all the issues. Be smart guys, theres FAR better quality/performing psus on sale this black friday season like the Core reactor 2, and Rmx shift, and very likely far more will also be going on sale closer to black friday aswell.

Coil whine, failing fan, bricked fan controller?

I purchased the 1050w version of this power supply June 28th, 2025 and starting September 7th, 2025 I started to get coil whine. That same day my fans completely stopped working. I've tested multiple sata cables that came with the power supply as well as the ports themselves. I believe the power supply started to fail somehow just a few months after owning it. I do nothing special and I don't over clock my components so I am not pushing it beyond any limits at all. The fan is failing now too. On start up you hear it attempt to spin and it makes noise like its having issues spinning. The power supply is clean and there is nothing visibly blocking the fan that I have seen. I would maybe look else where for a more reliable power supply brand.

Abour three months ago i had to make some upgrades to my motherboard and power supply. The power supply was working great until about a week ago. At first i thought it was my case button because it would turn on every once in a while and i could play for a whole session. Now my mother board wont even light up and im getting no power to my system. Maybe its just my product but i would not recommend.

PLEASE READ! Before you buy, do research on this. This PSU fried 3 SATA drives for me. I only powered the system once, noticed a fault and it turned off less than a second after. Instantly returned the product next day and swapped for a corsair. Looking into the issue, it seems there are many that can attest to thermal take destroying SATA HDDs. If you do intend to utilize this product. I highly suggest doing a FULL TEAR DOWN of your system and swapping all the cables to the ones they provide! THIS IS KEY TO PROTECTING YOURSELF.

      Hello

We agree, swapping out all cables is necessary and recommended, because otherwise hardwrae could be destroyed due to different pin outs of other companies products.

I purchased this Thermaltake power supply on September 4th, 2024, out of necessity as it was the only one available at my local Best Buy. Everything worked fine initially, but today, November 26th, it suddenly died. My computer wouldn't power on at all. I swapped it out with an older power supply I had lying around, and my system booted right up, confirming the Thermaltake unit was the culprit. Less than three months of use before complete failure is unacceptable. I definitely won't be buying another Thermaltake PSU and can't recommend it to anyone else. Stick with more reliable brands like Corsair, Be Quiet!, or Seasonic. You'll thank yourself in the long run.

Bought this for a new build that we were troubleshooting for a couple of days. When we removed it from the build to examine, we noticed that it was warmer than was considered safe. Immediately returned it for another brand as soon as I could because we were very concerned about it being a potential fire hazard.
