I did a fair amount of research when selecting a dashcam. I've read that Thinkware rates as one of the better, more reliable brands compared to other dashcam offerings. I was debating a higher priced unit but couldn't justify the likelihood of it either being stolen or damaged somehow... so at $80.00 on sale... this was a steal to get. The camera is very easy to install. The product itself feels cheap and doesn't inspire confidence but once installed you quickly appreciate it's sleek, minimalistic profile and robust mounting clips. Video clips are clear but lets be honest... you're not going to be able to read license plates or see distinguishing features easily depending on your speed and time of day. The impact sensor will sound two beeps if it thinks an event occurred that you'll want to review and upon startup, the camera tells you verbally that it's on and is recording. If I had to buy another camera, I would buy this one again considering the value of camera and safety advantages compared to other, lower priced or no name brand units. If you are a commercial delivery driver you may want to consider one of the more robust units for better picture quality and more advanced FCW, LDW features.

Absolutely best form factor ever! 100% hidden behind rear view mirror. That's only good about it. Video quality is very poor for this price. No focus, bad light adjustment and absolutely impossible to read license plates on video so it's absolutely useless in case of hit and run or whatever happened. Audio quality is bad also, does not adjust level to loud music or to quiet sound. Settings are possible through PC software so at least you can make voice commands quiet but that's all you can really do. Video length is 1min and you can't change it. Emergency button records only 10 seconds before and 1min after you press button so you actually have a chance to loose event if it takes longer than a minute or happened more then 10sec before you pressed button. Also I had it stuck on greeting message playback cycling endlessly untill you unplug it and it drains battery to finally shut up. Had it happened twice during week. I had hi hopes on this device but unfortunately it goes back to store((

      Hi there,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with our F50. Please note, you can change more than the volume on the PC Viewer software. For more information how how to change settings on the F50 please contact our support team! All of our cameras in 1 mim segments and we purposely chose to do this. The 1 min clips in conjunction with the cameras super capacitor allows the camera to finish writing the video in the event of an accident and the power is cut off. If you have longer recording segments and the vehicle loses power the camera will not be able to finish writing the longer video clip causing the video file to be corrupted. Hold the manual record button down for 5 seconds to format the micro SD card, this will resolve your issue with the greeting message. If you have any more questions or concerns let us know and we would be happy to help!

I purchased this item after a long delay when it went on sale. The size of the unit was really a selling factor in my purchase. I opted to have it hard wired which will be done at the end of the week. In the mean time, I used the included cigarette lighter adapter out of curiosity and mounted the camera where I want it installed after hardwiring. For the price it's hard to beat. The daytime quality is excellent but I was extremely disappointed at the nighttime recording, hence the 4 rating. I have seen other postings on this model and other Thinkware models that it only uses proprietary micro cards. This is incorrect. I previously owned a 64gb card and followed the directions on the Thinkware website, formatting the card and copying their info to the micro card. It works flawlessly. I own an iMac and downloaded the viewer which also works just fine once you find out how to use it. The directions online are not complete and different than it actually is. There is a tiny magnifier icon which you use to find the videos. Lastly, my camera is mounted behind my mirror, but the fisheye lens picks up an antenna for my remote start within the viewing area. Distracting, but not a complete disaster for what is being recorded. A nice little feature in the desktop viewer is a + or - symbol which can be used to zoom in or out of the actual video which eliminated the issue with the antenna showing in the video clip. Overall, I like this unit for the price and size.

This is a great dash camera, great quality video and audio. The only downside is if you get in an accident and need to prove the other driver is at fault, there is no screen to watch the video on. You have to put the card into a computer, and sometimes an adapter which goes into the computer, to watch the videos. Other than that, its an awesome product.

Received one for Christmas and loved the function and accessibility of it that I bought one for my secret santa this year. It's easy to set up. It captures footage well. Almost got into an accident and it captured the footage before and after the almost accident, plus theres a recording of the whole footage. I like that it portions out the video and saves footage when there could've been an accident. Sometimes I freak out because I"m used to having her say "continuous recording will now start." Otherwise, I'm super content about this product. I don't have to worry about deleting files because it automatically does it itself.

One of the best dash cams in the market. Easy to set up and small enough not to block your view. If you want a small and compact dash cam that's easy to use, good quality video and affordable price, buy this!

Just plug and start using. The computer setup is almost zero, and the pics are easy to review. The day pictures are fine with no adjustment. The night pics, you only see what the headlights see, so I adjust the brightness almost all the way up. The night pics are better, and the day pics are not bleached out. The power cord is plenty long. My fuse block is under the rear seat in the back on a full size SUV and the cord length was perfect.

This is my first dash cam and have had it for 3 weeks. It's a small device so it can be installed out of sight right behind the rear view mirror,. I like the adhesive approach for a dashcam -- saves the hassle of needing to put the suction cup up every time and it doesn't fall off. It comes with a long wired charger to the wire can be run inconspicuously from camera to outlet. Picture quality is sufficient for the intended purpose. Night video is what you would expect when it's dark -- it sees what you see but doesn't work any magic. One feature I wish this had was the option to turn off sound recording. Don't really want to record conversations in the car. The camera records a series of time stamped one minute videos. The video player software automatically plays the video continuously. Of course, hopefully I'll never need to look at the video beyond the initial curiosity after purchasing.

Hi there. The F50 dash cam has the option to disable voice recording. To do so, press and hold the "REC" button for three seconds. Once adjusted, the LED indicator will switch to a green blinking light. We hope this helps! Easy to use. Good video feedback. Must use a SD card adapter to view on computer. GPS add on is an affordable add on but not necessary if you don't require it. The GPS portion only shows segment of video it recorded with and then moves to next segment. I wished it showed continuous track of movement from start to finish. MicroSD can be pulled out and put into phone for immediate playback if desired but dashcam viewer is not available for this model on phone.

Daytime video quality is excellent and night-time quality is very good. An "event" is triggered in the event of an accident, or anytime you go over a bump, saving the video file into a separate file so than it is not erased by the continuous recording. Beware, the included SD card is small (8), so I recommend purchasing an additional SD card.

Nice dashcam at a low price point. Captures video and sound and saves each individual minute as an individual file, to best prevent file corruption. Comes with an 8 GB microsd card which provides about an hour of recording I'm told, but you can upgrade it. Just hook this up and it will automatically start when your car receives power, it will also talk to let you know its recording. Includes everything you need to get started, including a long power cable that can easily be tucked under paneling in your car and hidden from sight. Video quality is the one low point making me take away one star, but it will get the job done and provide the evidence you need to protect you from insurance fraud and bad drivers. The cost of this camera is a small price to pay for the piece of mind it gives you.

The F50 happened to be on sale and the internet reviews were all very good. I bought 2 & were very easy to install. Picture quality for daytime is very good, but night was a bit dark compared to my more expensive dash cam, but still good. Simple to use, automatically turns on & off if your power outlet turns off with the ignition, otherwise you need to unplug it since it has no power switch. It paid for itself since a couple of weeks after installing it, my wife captured a car rear ending me as I was driving our other car! I do recommend getting a bigger memory card, than the one it comes with.

This is a great camera for peace of mind while driving. We bought two of these after I got hit recently and they are so easy to operate. You simply mount, connect the power cable, then, as long as your car has power adapters that turn on and off with the ignition, do nothing further. Love that they turn on and off without me having to think about it. I can’t wait until these cameras come built into cars. Highly recommend them for safety and to prevent insurance fraud.

I bought this camera after a few close calls while out on the road. Boy am I happy I did. A little over a month after purchasing it I was involved in an accident and had I not had this camera I would've had to pay my deductible. Insurance used the video footage to fight my case and won. I have parking mode enabled (using the separate power cable) and I decided to check the footage one day after my car was in the shop. Camera recorded some things that happened to my car at the shop that totally surprised me. I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend everyone get a dash cam. Good value for the price, small enough it hides out of view yet great quality.

I've been using my dashcam for about a month a half now and have no complaints about it. The size and color makes it quite discreet when placed up near the rear view mirror. The video quality is real good, but can be a little unclear depending on the light outside and how fast you're moving, especially when turning. I have not purchased the hardwiring kit yet, so I cannot comment on the parking mode. Changing settings on the camera is done through inserting the microSD card in your computer and running a program that comes on the included microSD card. For $100, this is probably one of the better cameras available. You might also look at the Viofo A119 if you want a slightly cheaper camera with similar features.

I purchased the camera because I drive Uber and I wanted to protect myself by being able to see and record what goes on during rides . The camera is super easy to install, small so it's not even noticeable to most of my customers and it records on a loop when the memory card is full. It was a great purchase

Picked this up for $79 at BB. It works great as a basic dash cam. I do recommend getting a 64GB card which will save recordings for about 10 days. The card that comes with it only lasts 2 days. It's nice a small. I was able to find a nice location, mostly out of view, behind the rear view mirror. I've installed new firmware as well as updated some settings. This was very easy as long as you have a Windows PC to insert the card into.
