    Definitely hardwire it...it's worth it! Besides monitoring bad things that can happen to the vehicle and filing the incidents in well organized folders for review, the Parking mode is doing an awesome job of monitoring security of the front of my townhouse. I'd give it 5 stars, but I found the instruction operating manual to be of very little value. Like others have mentioned, wi-fi setup for an android phone doesn't work like the manual says for my Galaxy S7 phone using Verizon and will frustrated for a few hours. I had to figure out a workaround myself..which was to disable wi-fi, turn on the hotspot feature only that was connected to verizon...then the phone will display the folders, feed, and adjust dash cam settings properly. Other improvements that the user manual should incorporate in my opinion are what capabilities are gained and lost when you set dash cam settings to high, mid, low....some seem obvious, but others like what happens if you set parking mode motion setting to low? How many feet does that mean? The impact of changing settings isn't entirely clear. I hope this is useful feedback for Thinkware. - Speed camera warnings are extremely accurate...nice job! - Front Collision Waring System. ..Not sure how useful it is...time will tell. - Warning system when a car leaves in front of you at a red light. I like that..yes I was spaced out looking down at my cup holder and then I got a beep...sure enough it woke me up and got me moving. I'm looking forward to adding the rear cam and learning more about the new cloud update that is expected to be out soon. I wish there were more details about it along with an availability date. So, in conclusion, I think I bought the best Dashcam on the market...If I was reviewing another dashcam, I probably wouldn't be able to rate them any higher than the F800.

    Nice dash cam but worrisome microSD options

    I've been using this dash cam for a little over a month and have not encountered any issues connecting to the F800's wifi on my iPhone. Night time recording quality is much better than my previous dash cam (Papago 520) and the main reason I opted for this one to replace the aging Papago. I thought I would miss having the physical display, but operating the dash cam from the iPhone is a much better experience than fumbling through buttons on the unit itself. I'm now also considering the rear cam add-on and upgrading to a larger microSD card. The one con I have with Thinkware is with the price and warranty period of their microSD offerings. Their dash cams were made to only work with their own microSD card (for the sake of some additional reliability features) and will be incompatible with the vast majority of 3rd-party cards. One 64 GB card for $90 may have been reasonable in the past, but is overpriced by today's standards. And even worse, their microSD cards only have a 6-month warranty when others typically offer lifetime. I don't mind paying for quality, but will be instantly off the Thinkware bandwagon if anything breaks. The dash cam itself is great--hence the 5-stars--but the short warranty period and pricey microSD selection means you are playing with expensive fire.

    Decent camera. It has great night recording, and excellent daylight recording. Yes, connecting to smart phone is a pain, but once it's connected, everything works fine. The voice is annoying, but you can shut that off. The hard wire instructions are weak. Ya, it's only 3 wires (ground, ACC and 12V), but it doesn't state if you can only get away with ACC for recording when the vehicle is on, or if 12V needs to be connected also. I connected all, so no big deal. If you can tolerate horrible app connection on setup, this is a pretty good camera.

    overall the camera worked perfectly with me, didn't have many isues other then trying to get my iPhone conected. whenever i tried to live view what my camera was recording it wouldn't conect and im still not able to see my recorded video in my phone.

    I've been through a few of these now and this , by far, has been the best. The app is quick and easy to use. Downloading clips takes under 30 seconds and the app is very responsive. There is an issue with set up on the android app and I have emailed support about that. Other than that Issue which I am sure will be resolved as this is brand new I would recommend this dash cam.

    Great Dash Cam

    Video resolution is great. The only problem I have is the dash reflects onto the windshield when in direct sunlight. This is captured by the dash cam. The event clip should be longer than 10 sec before and 10 sec after event, but luckily I won't need it. The PC SW would be better if you could designate location for video clips. VERY HAPPY w/F800.

    Picture quality is good. Cannot turn off WiFi, which is annoying. For those who have not installed the unit yet, WiFi LED flashes so make sure u mount it behind the rear view mirror where u can’t see the unit.

    Think twice before buying Thinkware F800

    Purchased from Best Buy because it was a daily special. I'm coming from the Rexing V1. Long story short...been using Rexing V1 for about 6-7 months and all of sudden it stops saving the date/time etc, so each day it records over the previous days vids because the date resets. Anyways I hit up Rexing they sent me a new unit, customer service was great...so on to this. I got great deal on Bestbuy so I thought I'd upgrade to the Thinkware F800. It has GPS built in, safety features enabled, supposedly superior optics for night etc. I hardwire this because I'm thinking this is going to blow the V1 out of the water and no brainer this will be my primary dashcam. Come to find out...not so much...the app is utterly worthless...This dash cam doesn't have LCD display, so you can't see what settings you're changing etc, and HAVE to use the app. Wouldn't be a big deal if the app they MADE YOU USE wasn't the worst pile of crap app you've ever thought about using. I hooked up to Galaxy S8 and Apple iPad...it constantly freezes, glitches, closes etc. When you finally get into the app and think you made a change, you come back to find out your previous changes were never saved. It's unbelievably ridiculous how bad this app is. So then I look at the videos..."why do these look so grainy?" I asked myself...I look through some more in comparison to the V1 videos I have on my computer, the V1 looks noticeably better and far less grainy (Pics Below)...not only that, that audio is much clearer on the V1 compared to the F800. One additional annoyance with the F800 is the voice that constantly says "continuous recording will now start, connect your phone to wifi to Thinkware blah blah" and it's LOUD AS CRAP because the mic is right next to the speaker, so when you playback videos on your computer make sure to turn this horrendously loud voice prompts down each time you start to playback a video. Overall, I'm going back to my V1 and returning this to BestBuy...horrible would never recommend, not even to my worst enemy.

Either using our Thinkware Cloud App or using our PC Viewer Software on your PC or Mac. Our mobile application is not compatible with iPads or tablets. If you are having an issue with connectivity we recommend insuring that your Smart Networking Switch is off as this will reject the WiFi network since it has no real internet connection. All changes made in settings are applied automatically.When reviewing footage on the app itself as the footage is downloading while playing can appear grainy. When watching back fully downloaded footage or using our PC Viewer Software the image will not appear grainy as all of our cameras record in 1080p. We do offer the option to lower the volume or mute notifications which can be applied in System Settings.     not even 3 years and it died twice

    I picked this up as soon as it was released and initially was very excited and thought it was great. well, that excitement has long since worn off! The app is garbage... it's unintuitive, its prone to errors... when you attempt to download videos sometimes they will be corrupt, or the app disconnects from the came during the download so it fails. downloading, even when it does work, is incredibly slow. You have to buy a thinkware brand memory card to go with it if you want support... they are, of course, overpriced for no good reason (it does come with a small one but if you want any decent coverage you need a bigger one). within a few months of getting my cam and memory card the cam started doing this thing where it would make a click or pop noise, and then restart. Despite having registered my cam support seemed to have no info on it and I had to provide proof of purchase before they would help me. turns out their overpriced memory card was the cause. they sent another and then a few more months later, the cam was completely dead. Contacted support, they start demanding proof of purchase again... I ask "what was the point of me registering it if I have to go through this to get support, also, why do you not have this info from my last support call"? they somehow managed to find the info and eventually I got a replacement camera. the cam worked for probably another year before it started just randomly rebooting again. no pop or click this time... just rebooted out of nowhere. eventually it just stopped powering on at all. so, in short, the app is garbage, the hardware seems to be poorly made and dies prematurely, but the picture quality is quite good.

    Known Issues, Can Not Connect 2 WiFi

    bought this cam on 8/5/17 hooked up, then tried to connect to wifi no good, was told to update firmware on this Latest model, No good gave it one star because the Video was crisp and perfect after pulling the included micro sd card and reviewing in my home PC. You can not access any features, menu's set the functions up because it will not connect to wifi... You need to connect this unit to a smart phone VIA wifi.. after returning this to the South Setauket, NY store I was told it was a known issue! Thanks guys after 4 frustrating hours!!

    Doesn't work

    Researched thoroughly and decided to purchase with Best Buy's excellent price. I read the manual and then attempted to set up. First the manual refers to the iOS app to download. Nope, no such app. There is a cloud app which wouldn't even work and the Thinkware viewer app. I tried that.i went into settings but none of the changes would save save. Could not change the speed to mph from kph. As soon as I clicked the recording settings tab, the software crashed,(I have an iPhone 7 with latest software). Every time I tried, the software crashed. I reinstalled it, made no difference. Each time I had to reboot the f800 to get back on line. After a few hours, I gave up. This is not ready for sale and I will not buy another product from this company.

    Not user friendly.

    Short and to the point. No weekend support, WiFi will not stay connected, can't reconnect phone unless you turn the camera off and then back on. When I did get connected I went into settings to set camera ( time zone alerts you know the stuff you will pay the big bucks for) setting will not change on the camera. Not happy but I should wait for help come Monday. Made sure camera powered on and drove home. 20 min drive only 5 min were recorded. Not happy with my $300.00 windshield brick. Taking it back unless Monday Tec support pulls out a rabbit. I did perform a firmware update no help.

    Getting sick and tired of buying JUNK, Too many updates and issues that still do NOT WORK, Tried everything I can think of, Even did updates through computer and installed card, used a different card too just to see if card was bad, Still cannot use Phone app! Recorded 1 minute of video in the driveway and have no idea why it did not record the rest of the 30 minute drive, Got the Main camera at Best Buy and the Rear Camera & Hard wire kit from Amazon, I DEFIANTLY want a REFUND, This product is NOT ready for market! Recommend? Absolutely NOT! Also will be posting this for "Black Box My Car", Don`t know what you sent them for review, but there is no way it could have been this unit!

    The buttons are in the wrong spot and you have to manually connect it to WiFi every time you drive and manually turn it on and it has no loop recording. I should have bought a cheaper dash cam.
