Hardware is amazing, software is so frustrating and it's difficult to connect your mobile to the device to pull footage. I miss the old SD card type cameras, but will say this is a nice camera and I've pulled multiple clips alone from it.

Have the F800 on one vehicle and the Q800 on the other. Higher resolution with the F800 and it comes with a standard 12v adapter as well as a direct connect adapter for setting up camera(s) for parking mode. Great resolution both day and night. Same issue with app. Use with the usb adapter provided and a computer

Using the Q800 with your vehicles builtin hotspot

It took me awhile to figure out how to get the Q800 my to connect to my car's built in Hotspot. The only way I could do it was to follow this procedure...
1) Set the SSID and Password for my phone's built in Hotspot to the exact same SSID and Password for my car's (Buick Encore) Hotspot.
2) Go into setting on my Buick Encore and turn off the Wireless Hotspot.
3) Follow the procedures in the manual for "Connecting via hotspot"
4) Turn off your car (to turn the Q800 off)
5) Turn off the Hotspot on your phone
6) Turn on your car
7) Go to settings in your car and turn on the in car WIreless Hotspot
8) Within a minute or so if everything went correctly in the above steps you should hear "Connected to the Internet" from your Q800.
Change to SSID and Password on your phone's Hotspot back to what you want it to be.
Note: to manage the Q800 from your phone after this you will have to Connect via WiFi and not via Hotspot
Also Note: If you have previously connected to Q800 via your phone's Hotspot before steps (1-8) above you need to connect via a new connection (not the existing one) and scroll down on that screen on your phone past the existing Q800 connection to the Q800 option listed below. You MUST select the option connecting for the first time.

Hello Jeff, Also for reference here is our directions for connecting to a vehicle hotspot! May make the process slightly easier.
1) Write Down your phone's SSID and Password for Hotspot. Ensure Hotspot on your smartphone has been turned OFF. 2) Open the Thinkware Cloud App and press the "Not Connected" Bar 3) Select Connect with another Device, then select your Dash Cam model. 4) Select Connect via Hotspot 5) Select Yes, to register the Hotspot. 6) First activate the Dash Cams WiFi and connect to the Thinkware Network. 7) Press Next, and enter your phone's hotspots SSID and Password. 8) Select, Next. The Dash Cam will now disconnect from WiFi and begin looking for a Hotspot. 9) Now Turn on your Phone’s Hotspot and DO NOT LEAVE the Hotspot Setting Screen. 10) Once you hear the Dash Cam say "Connected to the Internet" you can then open the Thinkware Cloud App. 11) Open the Connection Settings option. 12) Select hotspot settings, and select the + Symbol in the top right. 13) Input your cars hotspot's SSID and Password. 14) After the Input has been completed, tap the added Network to connect. 15) The Dash Cam will disconnect from the Phone's Hotspot and begin searching for the Cars Hotspot. 16) Turn off your smartphone's Hotspot. 17) Once you hear "Connected to the Internet" the Dash Cam has been connected to the Cars Hotspot.

I wish I bought this before the accident that made me immediately buy one of these. But regardless, the image quality is fantastic, the low-light performance is solid, easy to install and setup.
The app is okay, I generally check the footage directly from the included microSD card, but if I just want to glance quick the live view is sweet.
Worth every penny, I would buy another one if I needed to. Super impressed.

When it works, it works very well. A plus is that is is quite small and that it doesn't have the unnecessary screen. It records everything in good HD and sound is decent. You can add up to a 128GB micro SD card but it won't be able to use the full amount for some reason. Also it automatically overrides the videos in normal recording mode after it gets full.

Thinkware it’s the best dash camera by far. A little expensive but the video and pictures quality it’s amazing. So, if sometimes you need a proof to insurance, believe me; the price of this camera it’s highly recommended over anyother. You can check live and when you start your vehicle, it’s give you a whole report about any circumstances. Buy a rear camera separately $100 extra, for me it’s is the bad things

I’ve had the camera for about a year front and back camera and only thing I can really complain about is on 80 degrees days + the camera will shut down after a couple hours on motion parking mode from over heating witch I do hate badly and won’t start back up into you come and restart the car also in parking mode at night cars the come by at 25 mph + it’s hard to see the license plate numbers and the sensitive impact on parking mode is set to the highest and if some one barly backs into or what ever it does not pickup I also installed the cpl filter on the lens for a better video overall it’s not a bad camera but definitely some things I’d change

I've used cheaper dashcams, but you get what you pay for. With the Thinkware, I get much better clarity and can read license plates day and night. This comes with both a hardwire kit and a 12v plug wire. Be aware that the 12v isn't a USB type so you can't use 12v plugs with additional USB slots. If you want to have parking mode work you will need to hardwire unless you plug stays on all the time. Took me all of 15 minutes in the Best Buy parking lot to run the 12v wire and plug through my vehicles trim and hide behind the rearview mirror. I"ll take time to install the hardwire kit later since I didn't have tools on me.

One of the main reason I got this camera is that it sticks to the glass and blends in with the Rearview mirror assembly.
The installation was a breeze and setup with the app was very easy. The video quality is very good and I like the fact that I can view it through WiFi connected smartphone.
I got this on deal of the day so I'm very happy with purchase.

Bought it for my 17 year old. She loves it. Easy to install and she had things going in no time (of course she is more tech savvy). Nice wide view (surprisingly so). My daughter has run to me on several occasions to show me footage from near collisions. For how it is designed I would give it a 5. I only give it a four because it is limited only to front view by design. My daughter already wants an upgrade for one with a rear view as well.

I really like this dashcam. Plenty of great features and very slimline. You don't have a screen but you can easily view and download onto your phone. I am really interested in trying out the optional rearview camera when I get one. We love the added security this affords us when driving. I actually purchased a second one for my wife.

I tow and travel a lot and bought this for safety after one too many close calls. It’s small and tucks neatly out of the way; it doesn’t hang down from a suction cup and block half the windshield. The video clips have great resolution and it’s easy to make out details (like someone’s license plate). The added road safety features are nice, though I don’t use most of them since my vehicle already has LDW and FCWS. The traffic camera warnings are nice though. The hotspot interface with your phone can be somewhat challenging and the instructions didn’t work. Fortunately, it was nothing that YouTube couldn’t fix and a couple
Videos later, I was up and running. But the peace of mind knowing that I can have a record of any future accident is what drove me to get this and has made me glad I’ve done so.

We've had this camera in our car for over a year now and we love it. It's hidden away nicely behind the Rear View Mirror, so it's basically invisable and doesn't take away from our view of the road. The pictures are clear and the features are really nice!
