I just installed this on a newly purchased used vehicle. The install was a breeze and the included OBD2 port hardwire kit made it even nicer. I've always wanted to try a thinkware dash cam set up and I'm glad I selected this u3000 pro kit, I really like the light blue LED scanner feature as a added theft deterrent and or camera warning sign.
Install took me roughly about an hour taking my time, but this isn't my first dash cam install it's actually about my fifth as I've done a few for myself as well as family. I like that with this kit think where included a hardwire kit I only wish it was a true hardwire kit to the fuse panel with addif uses versus the OBD2 port but it works and it works fine so far. I really like the parking mode with a built-in radar the front cam has a great picture in the rear isn't bad either.
My one and main complaint is the thinkware app it's just lacking when compared to the many other brands I've used in currently have in vehicles. There's just not as many options and it takes longer to connect and tweak compared to the other brands I've used.
I do like that thinkware includes a micro SD card, Even though I didn't use it I installed one four times the size that I already had. This dual cam setup is very nice with a plethora of built-in features my one major complaint would be is there's no included display for the user to adjust the settings without using the app. Every other dash cam I've ever used at least includes a small display for dash cam menu and setting tweaking.

Great dash cam with excellent video quality

Thinkware's U3000 Pro is a most welcome addition to my vehicle's security and the image quality is what stands out the most. I replaced the current dash cam I had in my daily driver with this U3000 Pro and feel like it was worth the switch.
In the box is a plethora of items that might seem scary for a 1st time do it yourselfer, but once you sort it all out, it isn't that bad. You get the front and rear cams, OBD2 power cable (love this vs the 12V if you don't hardwire), a super long connecting cable for the rear and front cams, lens filter, 64GB micro SDXC card, quick start guide and a TON of mounting hardware/pads. I would recommend a professional or Best Buy installing it for you, unless you are comfortable with wiring, panel removement and cable management.
After taking about 20 minutes to remove my old camera, I prepped and mapped the area where I wanted Thinkware's cams to go. Having already ran and cables from the front to the rear, this part was a lot easier for me. This time around though, I love the power option Thinkware has given us. Instead of a normal 12V connector that plugs into the old school cig lighter port, you have the OBDII cable that plugs into the area where mechanics use to get car diagnostics.
With the power cable, you can choose (after selecting what type (EV/Fuel Combustion) of car you have, to use the Parking option or not. What this does is if on, you get power even if the car is off so that you can still have monitoring if you are not around and the onbard radar I believe is amazing so you get less false positives. This also is used to save battery life too. If off, then the cams are only running when your car is too.
One hiccup I ran into is completely my own fault. When everything was being powered on for the 1st time and setting up with the App, I had an infinite loop of the camera asking for an SD card, formatting required, formatting complete and restarting. This was on me, as I tried to go all out and use a legit 1TB card, but it turned out to be incompatible. I ended up switching to 512GB instead and it worked perfectly and setup was able to continue. Sorry, but 64GB for me personally is too small of a capacity.
Now on to where the U3000 Pro shines, video performance. In the daytime, video quality lives up to Thinkware's claim and is super crystal clear. 4K front and 2K rear is a major upgrade I was used to from my previous cams of 1440P front and 108-P rear. This alone helps justifies the price tag (though currently on sale at time of review) and makes it worth it.
I got to really try out the video quality all week as my trip to and from work require me to leave the house when the sun isn't out yet and leave when the sun is shining at full brightness. Light or Darkness the clarity is stunning. I can see when reviewing footage license plate numbers and distant signs/exits in great detail. During the dark, as long as a headlight wasn't shining directly to my face, the low-light image clarity is perfect. I could see while in traffic again license plates with no issues.
The app itself is meh at best. You would think with such a high quality camera line up, the App would look polished as well. When you 1st use it, setup is great, going one step at a time to make sure all the kinks are worked out. Even there is a nice calibrating feature where the perfect spot for the cam can go. But that's about that. Menu is clunky and it's an adventure when trying to find or watching camera footage. It's very convoluted.

Great Customizable Dashcam for Any User

I have owned many dashcams, and lately been updating my vehicles with dashcams that use a OBD-II power cable to keep the dashcam active while parked. The Thinkware U3000 Pro also includes a rear camera and I wanted to see how it performed.
After installing the cameras and loading the app, I was ready to start testing this dashcam. The dashcam has a voice intro, once starting the vehicle, which I ended up disabling. I was impressed with the quality of video and accessories Thinkware provides for this dashcam. A polarizing filter is provided for the front camera and optional accessories can be purchased to provide flexibility for the users needs. There is a USB-C port on the front camera which can be used to add an LTE module or an interior infrared camera.
During testing the dashcam, I was impressed with the image’s clarity. I choose not to use the polarizing filter since the quality of the video was so great without it. I took a screenshot from the app, but the image quality did not match what I could see (see photos).
This dashcam is built in a way to make it customizable for many needs, and I would recommend it for anyone in the market to help protect themselves and their vehicle.

TW U3000-PRO = AWESOME , amazing features

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is just the 2nd dash cam I’ve owned. My previous unit is a 3-cam system, front, rear and cabin, has a screen which is super helpful and convenient, and I felt a non-starter necessity.
I was reluctant in justifying the non-screen U3000Pro but there are a plethora of hardware upgrades, 3 years newer technology, dual radar, and dual Sony Starvis HDR sensors 4k30 2k30. Boy was this upgrade worth it, AWESOME.
My wife is primary driver of the vehicle, and works in busy office park, where many an accident has been noted in the tight deck. Originally we had considered a Tesla , largely for the sentry parking record mode, but she chose Polestar 2 EV instead, with NO sentry mode which she’d been asking for about 3 years now.
I had secretly hoped one of these primary dash cams first mfgs would integrate detection of police radar into the same device, (don’t ask) but Escort, Whistler and Cobra are radar detect first mfgs, with dash cam an oversight, and the roadmaps I’ve seen do not look to change that model.
Installation is not as daunting as first worried. Our other dash cam takes up the cigarette lighter or the USB-C slot, here the inclusion of OBD-II is much preferred. Lack of a viewable screen does require that that you connect U3000 Pro and external mobile device to same Wi-Fi network (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz) since it’s needed to modify setup variables. Viewing on in-vehicle mounted iPhone or iPad, or pc via microSD is where superior video is immediately evident and clearly exploits weaknesses of the other vehicle dash cam. While a screen would be nice, this design is much more minimalist and sleek. I will say the ThinkWare app has a way to go, random disconnects prove quite frustrating among other idiosyncrasies.
The best feature imho (ok, my wife’s humble opinion) is the sentry mode. She parks in her parking deck at a busy business park with tight spaces in an urban area. The ability to see events is invaluable, and 12v battery drain minimal. we leaned the U3000 pro does NOT keep cameras hot the whole time, instead it uses low-power radar instead and only triggers cameras to buffers recording 10 seconds before and after noteworthy subject is in proximity.
SPECS:
*Sony Starvis 2 sensors
*4K 30 UHd front cam
*2k 30 QHd rear cam
*on-board dual-radar
*HDR range on both cams
*USB-C port for accessories
*MicroSD up tp 512 GB (64 Gb incl)
*wide 147 degree FOV
*time-lapsed recording
*dual band 5 GHz / 2.4 GHz
PROS:
+Sleek design
+Dual Radar
+ODB-II power
+Parking Sentry cam
+clear video with less grain
+HDR reduces headlight “halo” glare
+low-light exposure much better >U3000
+minimal battery drain, low-power mode
+ADAS Adv Driver Assistamce System = safety
CONS:
-price premium
-NO Screen, argh
-most features off by default
-no interior cabin cam (add-on)
-ThinkWare app needs maturity
-sentry mode requires said app,
-(no in-car infotainment integration)
-no radar detection so drive safely
CONCLUSION:
If you’re in the market for dash cam, and had been waiting for a premium top-notch product, give the ThinkWare U3000 Pro a hard look. While the non-pro model is steeply discounted now, I would not suggest sacrificing HDR in BOTH cameras, helpful in low-light and also to reduce headlight glare. I do wish it had a screen, but if video quality is your goal, you’re unlikely to do better than dual Sony Starvis sensors. Dual-radar parking assist and sentry mode are an easy sell !!
RECOMMEND: Strong Buy

I have used different brands of dashcams over the past 8 years, while each of these dashcams had its pros and cons, none of them was 100% the ultimate solution. Because I work in a very busy area and I park my car in a very tight parking lot where cars often bump into each other. I needed a camera with certain features that can serve the purpose such as high resolution, intuitive and fast connection, compact size, and ease of installation. After using this Thinkware U3000 Pro, I can confidently say it is one of the best options available on the market. The box comes with everything I needed to set it up: (Front camera, rear camera, rear-camera connection cable, OBD-II power cable for power + parking mode, windshield mount with 3M adhesive, heat blocking film, CPL polarized filter, cable clips / holders, microSD card 64 GB.
I decided to use the OBD-II power cable because my car’s 12 V cigarette lighter outlet is inside the center console, which makes my wiring process nearly impossible. The OBD-II option, on the other hand, is also a peace of mind since the cable can be tucked alongside the windshield and down the door and then straight to the power port. After plugging everything in, I opened the Thinkware app and connected the camera using the on-screen prompts which were super easy and hassle free.
Then I opened camera live-view and enabled the guidelines option (in green) to adjust and choose the best location of the camera before applying the 3m adhesive pad and the placing the mounting bracket, which is helpful. Once the front camera was mounted and everything was good, I ran the rear camera micro-USB cable (making sure to follow the labels). “F” end for the front unit and “R” end for the rear). Once connected, an audible prompt is played notifying me that the camera is restarting to apply the new setting. My first impression of this dashcam was excellent.
The dashcam is well-built and feels premium. The main camera records in 4K and equipped with Sony STARVIS 2 sensors, which deliver sharp and clear footage in low-light conditions. In addition to HDR, that makes night vision super clear to the extent license plates are cleared captured. I went through every single section in the setting menu because most of the important features were turned off by default such as advanced parking alert, traffic light change alert, potential collision warning. These features are part of this Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which delivers real-time safety alerts. Overall, the dashcam performs well and intuitively. When I park, the camera plays audible prompt to let me know that it entered parking mode and begin monitoring for motion or impact. The camera handles glare and bright lights better than any model I used before, especially with the help of the CPL filter. The camera has built in GPS and the fast 5 GHz Wi Fi makes connection between the dashcam and the smartphone noticeably fast. This Thinkware provides full safety, and protection features more than what I expected. The only drawback of this dashcam is the remote live-viewing feature that requires a separate purchase of LTE module, which means the only way to view live and access the recoded clips is by connecting the smartphone to the dashcam. This makes access less convenient compared to cloud features. Aside from that, this dashcam is excellent and performs exactly as needed. I think after using it for few days now, this Thinkware U3000 Pro is a powerful and dependable dashcam.

After relying on dashcams in my vehicles for years and recently buying
a golf cart, I thought it would be a good idea to invest in another one that had both front and
back cameras, especially considering the crazy drivers we live around that don’t think my
street legal registered golf cart belongs on the road. The THINKWARE U3000 Pro
dashcamera stood out as a great option with premium features including a front 4K UHD
camera paired with a wired rear 2K camera, super night vision, amongst a ton of extra
features since it is considered one of their flagship models.
Installation was simple and straightforward thanks to the included adhesive mounts and
clear instructions. The THINKWARE mobile app simplifies initial syncing and set up of the
camera via Bluetooth and WiFi. The software is intuitive and easy to use allowing for quick
access to essential features without a steep learning curve. The front and rear cameras fit
perfectly on the rails of our cart’s roll cage. The cameras are less bulky than other dash
cams I have used in the past and will also work great on any other vehicle with the included
selection of power cables. The cameras feels sturdy and built with quality materials which
usually means it was built to last which is great considering both cameras will be exposed
to the elements when not parked in our garage. The intuitive button layout and clear LED
indicators make operation straightforward, even for first-time dashcam users.
After powering it on and opening the smart phone app, I switched to live view to check out
what the video looked like. Because of its high resolution 4K camera, the U3000 Pro
captures crisp video with exceptional clarity that can capture license plates and road signs
even from a distance. The wide dynamic range (WDR) and superior night vision technology
further enhance image quality in challenging lighting environments. It has dual-Channel
recording meaning it can simultaneously record from the front and rear cameras offering
coverage of our cart’s surroundings.
Some of the U3000 Pro’s other features include Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)
which provides alerts for lane departure, forward collision warning, and front vehicle
departure, protecting us from other drivers with heavier and safer vehicles we’re sharing
the roads with. The Parking Surveillance function detects motion and impacts enabling
continuous monitoring while our cart is parked giving us peace of mind against hit-and-run
incidents or vandalism. It has built-in GPS that reads and records your speed and location
data while videoing. Its built-in Wi-Fi allows for fast video downloads and firmware updates
via the mobile app.
Overall, the THINKWARE U3000 Pro dash camera was a perfect fit in my scenario and will
also work and function great in a variety of other circumstances. Although priced higher
than other dash cams in the market, the amazing video and additional features make it
stand out amongst the competition. In my opinion, the investment in a great and reliable
dash camera is justified and you can’t go wrong with the U3000 Pro’s advanced capabilities
and peace of mind it delivers. For those prioritizing video clarity, smart features, and ease
of use, this dash camera is highly recommended

Security, Not Just a Camera. Think RING!
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Have you ever had to run into a store or friends place while double parked and spent the entire time checking your phone? This product will make immediate sense. What about parking in a visitor spot without a pass? Maybe leaving your car at the mall and wondering if someone’s testing door handles? That background stress adds up, and the Thinkware U3000 Pro is built to greatly reduce these things.
The easiest way to describe it is this is to think Ring or ADT, but for your car. Between parking enforcement, hit-and-runs, break-ins, and speed or red-light cameras, the cost of one bad day can easily exceed the price of this system. For me, the trade-off is simple. Peace of mind and reliable evidence are worth it. With LTE connectivity and Live View, you can check on your vehicle from anywhere there’s internet access changing how you think about leaving your car unattended.
What’s in the box
Inside the package you get the U3000 Pro front unit, rear camera, 3M adhesive windshield mount with extra tape, CPL filter, heat-blocking film, adhesive cable clips, OBD II hardwire harness, trim tool, and a 64GB microSD card. The included card works, but realistically, 64GB fills up quickly with 4K footage so upgrade to at least 256GB if you want multiple days of recordings without overwriting.
Unboxing and first impressions
Everything comes neatly packed and organized. Nothing feels cheap. The cameras themselves feel solid, and even the cables and mounting tape feel high quality, which matters when you’re trusting something to sit in a hot windshield year-round. I installed this in a 2024 Dodge Durango and had more than enough cable length, even after taking the time to hide everything cleanly along trim panels and headliner edges. The kit is clearly designed to work across sedans, SUVs, and trucks without forcing you to stretch wires or improvise routing.
The field of view is wide at 147 degrees in the front and 156 degrees in the rear, which does a good job of covering adjacent lanes and parking angles. Smart Parking Mode is also well thought out. When temperatures climb too high or battery voltage drops, the system shifts into a low-power mode to avoid draining your battery. There’s also an Energy Saving Parking Mode that records only when an impact is detected, which dramatically extends how long the camera can stay active while parked.
Installation and setup
Installation is straightforward if you take your time and think things through. With this package, anyone can be a DIYer. I recommend loosely routing the cables and test-mounting both cameras first. Connect to the camera through the app and register it. Use the alignment overlay to make it easier to mount the front camera and properly level it to ensure capturing the right field of view.
After confirming everything works, permanently mount the cameras, unplug them, and route the cables cleanly back to the front U3000pro. From start to finish, the install took me about one to one and a half hours, depending on minor distractions and occasional app connection delays. I tested everything on both Android and iOS, and both platforms worked reliably once connected.
The real standout here is the OBD II hardwire harness. This alone sets the U3000 Pro apart for DIY installs. There’s no fuse box hunting, no multimeter testing, and no guessing which fuse stays hot during parking mode versus ignition. You plug it into the OBD II port and you’re done. It probably saved me at least 30 minutes of troubleshooting. The harness uses only the necessary pins, and the materials feel high quality, so there’s no concern about sloppy power delivery.
App experience
This is where the experience becomes more mixed. You need two separate apps: Thinkware Dashcam Link for viewing and interacting with the camera, and THINKWARE CONNECTED for cloud features. If you want real-time alerts, Live View, or cloud backups, a subscription second app is required.
If you run into connectivity issues, deleting the camera from your phone and re-pairing it from scratch usually resolves the problem. The app is required if you want to view footage without a computer, but if you do have a computer handy, using an SD card reader is actually easier. The file structure on the card is clean and well organized, making it easy to find specific events without searching endlessly through clips.
Cloud access and subscriptions
This is the biggest downside of the U3000 Pro. Previous Thinkware models offered cloud access over Wi-Fi and I loved that for my home. With home Wi-Fi I could see what's happening around my car. That option is now gone with the release of the Pro. Now, cloud functionality requires LTE hardware and a paid cloud subscription. To use cloud features, you must purchase the LTE model, which runs about $150, and then pay for a monthly or yearly cloud subscription. The LTE modem includes three years of SIM service. If cloud backup matters to you, expect ongoing costs .
SD card formatting issue
One frustration I ran into is what happens when you install a new SD card. If the card isn’t formatted, the camera won’t boot correctly. You’ll hear “Memory Card Error, please format card,” the unit reboots, and you don’t get enough time to connect via the app to fix it.
The workaround is simple but poorly documented. You must format the SD card directly on the unit by pressing the [REC] and [Wi-Fi] buttons at the same time. This should be clearly explained in the Quick Start guide or added to the voice prompts, especially since most users will upgrade to a larger card for 4K recording.
Things to know
Traffic-light change notifications alert you when lights turn green.
Cloud access now requires two subscriptions: LTE connectivity and the CONNECTED app, with no Wi-Fi alternative. Supports microSD cards up to 512GB and uses H.265 HEVC compression.
There’s no AI or voice control for hands-free clip marking.
Compatible with both iOS and Android.
Uses dual Sony Starvis 2 sensors with 4K front and 2K rear recording, and includes dual 60GHz radar sensors for intelligent, energy-efficient parking surveillance.
Speed and red-light camera alerts are included, though they can be slightly conservative by a few MPH.
Low-light performance is excellent
Built-in GPS records speed, time, and location. Live monitoring, impact alerts, and vehicle tracking.
Things I’d like to see improved
Voice commands for basic actions like starting a recording or locking a clip would be a welcome addition.
Backlit buttons would help during nighttime adjustments.
A CPL option for the rear camera would reduce glare
The frequent “Please have a safe drive today” voice prompt could be toned down (currently only turned off).
Overall, the Thinkware U3000 Pro delivers outstanding video quality, strong parking surveillance, and one of the easiest hardwire installs I’ve ever completed. The subscription model and lack of Wi-Fi cloud access are real deal breakers for some, but if security, evidence, and peace of mind are priorities, this system still delivers where it matters most.

Dash cam that acts as a security cam

The Thinkware U3000 offers safety and reliability needs for your day to day life. With crisp picture quality and live real time gps with speed tracking, this unit is sure to help keep you safe and out of trouble.
Out of the box you get everything needed to get you going. The Thinkware app helps make start up and setting navigation a breeze. Diving right in to it you will notice that this set up is pretty similar to most out there. You get your forward and rearward camera with your rear camera bringing you 2K quality for better identification of your surrounding situation. Picture quality is superb during daytime driving with little to no motion blur and night time driving does a awesome job of utilizing low light conditions. Keep in mind even with modern tech night time driving still struggles around rural roads with extreme low light conditions. But where this unit in my opinion really shines is its ability to double up as a security cam and its real time gps tracking. Lets talk about the real time gps tracking for a minute. Lets say you get pulled over and were told you were doing 65 in a 30. The Thinkware U3000 connects directly to your vehicles OBDII connector which is a direct link to your vehicles computer. Through the app you can then pull up the exact location you were told you were speeding, which is then tagged by real time vehicle speed all pulled from your vehicles speed sensors, which is being reported to your cars computer. To argue against the vehicles speed past that point is to argue with the engineering of the vehicle output and speed output that is being sent to your vehicles speedometer. In a nut shell this makes for a really strong argument should you find yourself in a dispute over how fast you were going. The security feature side of this unit allows you to set up motion ranges on both the front and rearward camera which when triggered, will send a push notification to your phone along with a 5 second or so clip showing what triggered it. Impacts or tampering with your vehicle will create a push notification letting you know that it detected impact and all triggered footage is stored via the micro sd card for later viewing.
At the end of the day this dash cam acts like most dash cams out there with two added features which im sure are to come in handy, the live gps/speed tracking and the back up security camera. If your a car guy who puts a lot of love in to your vehicle and can't go to a restaurant without consistently worrying about your vehicle then this is a must have.

Finally, after three different dash cams from three different brands over a few years, I have found one with the features I have been wanting. For Instance, a couple of my old ones claimed to be smart and monitor parking. Okay, but I had no way to connect to them unless I was in the vehicle. Then, when I did try it the experience seemed pretty useless. Now with the new Thinkware U3000 pro I can actually get an LTE modem for it and monitor my vehicle from anywhere with an internet connection with my phone, which is pretty much anywhere these days. Not only that they have the option to buy an extra external battery pack designed to be wired into your vehicle's fuse box in line with your dashcam, so that while using the parking mode, you do not drain your car battery. The Thinkware U3000 Pro is the most thoroughly thought-out dashcam I have ever seen. Some other features are the OBD 2 port power cable plug, designed to integrate with your vehicle's computer for the smart parking surveillance modes. When I saw the heat blocking film and the CPL filter, I knew that a lot of attention to detail was given to the design of the U3000 pro and when I saw that it had Sony Starvis 2 sensors with HDR for both the front and rear cameras, I knew they were serious about quality as well. I have always been a bit perplexed at the video quality of previous dash cams and with the Sony Starvis 2 cameras, the quality is there. If that was not enough to impress me, there is also an advanced driving assistance system that warns you of the proximity of vehicles in front of you and alerts you when the traffic light changes from red to green. The parking mode operates via the built-in radar on each camera front and rear to monitor for movement that will activate the camera needed. While the U3000 Pro does not have a screen like my previous dash cams it does have larger easier to find buttons to activate recording and other functions which are indicated by lights with different colors and you can use the app to view any recordings. I am very happy that I was able to get my hands on a U3000 Pro and I appreciate the attention to detail and the well-thought-out accessory line. Dash are very important because they can prove that you are not at fault in an accident and can help you win in accident case by proving the other party at fault by having the whole incident recorded.

Feature-Packed Dash Cam, Excellent Video Quality

This Thinkware U3000 dash cam is very well built and arrives well packaged with everything needed for installation. To begin setup, you’ll need to download the Thinkware DashCamLink app, there’s a QR code provided for easy access.
One important note: the camera can only be powered through the OBDII port. If you’re not familiar with it, the port is typically located under the steering wheel or near the fuse box. Once you plug in the OBDII cable, the dash cam powers on immediately and walks you through setup with voice prompts. I recommend turning the car on during installation, otherwise, the camera enters parking mode and won’t let you connect through the app.
Follow the quick start instructions to pair the dash cam with your phone. The live view feature is extremely helpful for positioning, and the on-screen grid lines make it easy to keep the camera level. Mounting is simple thanks to the 3M adhesive on the camera bracket. The included 64GB microSD card and adapter also make it convenient to transfer recordings to a laptop.
After mounting the front camera, you can connect the rear camera using the provided cable. The trickiest part of the installation is managing the wiring, especially since some interior panels hide airbag components, so caution is essential when tucking cables away.
Performance-wise, the camera has been excellent. The video quality is impressive, with options for 2K or 4K resolution, and the audio recording feature is great for rideshare drivers. I personally keep voice recording off, but it’s nice to have the option. The dash cam also monitors your vehicle while parked, capturing video if motion is detected, useful for hit-and-run incidents. You can review footage through the app, and remote access with alerts is also available if you keep the dash cam connected to a dedicated hotspot (though not the same phone you use for the app).
Overall, this dash cam is a solid choice, it offers strong performance, impressive video quality and a lot of useful features. In the box, you’ll find the user manual with a quick start guide, the front and rear cameras, all necessary cables, an SD card kit, mounting accessories, a heat-blocking film, and a CPL lens filter.

Price ($550)
Can't have the (purchased separately) interior cam set-up with the LTE option. I'd love to have the option of a 3-way cam, with LTE, for added security
CONS:
The Thinkware App (used on Android). It's clunky, doesn't load live view consistently, and you'll have to dig through menus for important options
Thinkware has a solid reputation in the dashcam market. Over the years, their dash cams have become a premium choice. Most of their offerings are recognized for their long list of features, including high-quality video, radar protection for parking, cloud connectivity, and modern designs. The U3000 Pro is their newest offering, and for the most part, lives up to the Thinkware name.
The U3000 Pro isn't cheap. The intro price is $550, which is on the higher end of dashcams. Though in this case, they attempt to justify its higher price tag by focusing on impressive video quality. After all, that's the most critical aspect of any dashcam (or camera for that matter). Does it lead the pack of available dashcams in terms of video quality? It may be.
During the day, the camera delivers clear, high-resolution video with excellent detail. Even in bright sunlight, the camera handles exposure fantastically. You'll be able to clearly see license plates, landmarks, and street signs, even at high speeds. The front camera captures a wide view of the road. And the rear camera helps you keep an eye on tailgaters and lane changes, minimizing motion blur and providing natural colors frame by frame. Again, the excellent image quality can't be expressed enough. This is the best quality I've ever seen on a dashcam.
At night, the U3000 Pro shines as well. Its low-light performance is impressive, showing clear details where other cams might struggle with graininess or poor light management. It's clear, without distortion or artifacts disrupting the image.
While most people get dashcams for protection against accidents and blame, another important aspect is knowing their vehicle is "looked after" while parked. Whether from an accident or car prowlers. For its Parking Mode, Thinkware adds a radar module that detects movement around your vehicle, making it superior to many other options. It starts recording only when it senses something nearby. Instead of constantly recognizing tree branches, it does an outstanding job distinguishing between people and cars, and not unnecessary objects. In everyday use, parking mode works effectively. Unlike less advanced cameras that send constant false alarms, you'll get important events without being overwhelmed by notifications. This helps with battery drain as well, but it's always a good idea to have backup plans when your vehicle is parked for long stretches (over a week, for example).
The U3000 Pro is nearly perfect, but stumbles in a vital function. The app. It's not as user-friendly as most other dash cam apps I've used. Currently, the Android app has a rating of 1.6/5. That's a bad sign. The live video feature is inconsistent and doesn't load very easily. It doesn't happen every time, but it's enough to frustrate me. It might load quickly one time and not at all another. The app's design is outdated compared to others on the market. I had to dig through the settings to find how to activate my (purchased separately) LTE module. They may improve things now that this newest cam is available. I'm looking forward to it.
Overall, the video quality, especially at night, is impressive, and the intelligent parking mode works well. I had Best Buy install the cam, so I needed them to uninstall the other one first. They were able to uninstall the old one and install this one within 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The excellent image clarity is the most important, but even with that, the software could use some improvement. At this price point ($550), the inconsistent live video and clunky app make it a mixed bag for users. As premium as Thinkware makes their devices, I wish they'd work a little harder to smooth out the app experience.

Excellent dash cam with outstanding video quality. The front 4K and rear 2K footage are very clear, even at night, and the built-in GPS and dual radar features add extra peace of mind. Setup was straightforward, and the app connects easily to my phone. Solid build quality and feels very reliable so far. Would definitely recommend.

The Rolls-Royce of Dash Camera's

The Thinkware U3000 PRO 4k dashcam is a powerful tool to protect your vehicle and equipment.
It includes and front facing and also a rear facing camera, and has an advanced dual radar technology to assist with parking mode features.
Out of the box, set up is fairly easy. The front and rear camera's use double sided tape to adhere to the window. The rear camera has to mount on the rear window, and I would recommend trying to place it somewhere besides the actual window if you have aftermarket tint. If you ever need to try to take the camera off the tint will rip and have to be replaced.
The camera comes with a 64GB memory card, which for 2 camera's, does not provide a whole lot of recording time before recording over itself. The card is upgrade-able to 512GB if you ever did want a bigger card. The camera does use file compression when storing the videos that does help, but with using parking mode, it will tie up much more memory.
You will need to run the power/data cable from the rear dash cam to the front dash cam, which may require trim pieces in the car needing to be removed to cleanly run the wiring through the car. It is very easy to plug in to each module.
Before installing the front dashcam, it is recommended to install the included cpl filter onto the camera lens to filter out excess light, glares, and reflections. It does make quite the difference.
The main power supply for the camera is an OBD-II cable. This allows constant power to be used for parking modes when the car is off. All vehicles are different with the location of the OBD-II port so you will need to make sure to find out where yours is.
App and connectivity- You will need to download the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app in order to properly use your dash cam. Once you download and register your camera, the camera will try to connect over Bluetooth. After pairing and some more set up, it will ask you to connect to your phone over wifi. This is needed to fully control the camera. This dash cam recommends having a 5.0ghz wifi connection. Most new phones have this connectivity, but a lot of older phones do not, and some phones that have it, may have that option turned off, So you may want to check your phones wifi settings. It will still work and connect, but the features may not respond the best or may have overall connection issues.
Features and usage- This dash cam is like the Rolls-Royce of features. Besides having camera features, this also includes a front collision warning system, a front vehicle departure system, which is really cool, as it will alert you to when you are stopped and traffic in front of you starts moving again. It also has a traffic light monitor that detects when traffic lights turn from red to green. It's not fully dependable and you need to still observe the road before just taking off, as I have had the alert go off on green turn lights when I am sitting on a straight red. The onboard GPS also included map data to alert you to speed trap areas and areas that have red light cameras. You can adjust all of these settings in the menu's in the app.
For parking, this camera has motion and impact detection monitoring, upgraded with the Radar sensors in the camera for more precise detection. I love this feature. I just wish I could add more cameras for side impacts like from other peoples car doors. It is not so much a feature I can use right now going into winter, but this also includes a smart parking mode that will regulate the power if the temperature in the car or direct heat from the sun reaches 150 degrees and will only record if a direct impact is detected. The parking modes record a 20 second total video of 10 seconds before, and 10 seconds after the motion or impact detection.
Video and audio quality- The front camera records in 4k resolution (2160p) but only at 30fps, and the rear camera records at 2k resolution (1440p) at 30fps. You can also run the front camera at 2k resolution but at 60fps. I personally like higher fps vs. resolution, so still being able to record in 2k at a higher resolution is a better option for me. The video quality is very clear and detailed (especially with the filter attached) for 4k and 2k, I just would like to see 4k cameras be able to run at 60fps. The rear camera will only run 2k at 30fps.
These cameras have wide dynamic range and HDR as well, which helps with color clarity and brightness.
Night driving is very clear. The Sony Starvis 2 sensor makes low light situations very clear and visible.
Sound playback is clean and clear, and you can also hear quite a bit of sound from outside the car as well. No complaints.
This dash cam also has some add ons to make things even better. You can buy an LTE transmitter that uses a cell signal to allow you to remote view your camera from anywhere, which is pretty cool.
It also has a cabin camera that you can add to the front camera that uses infrared to clearly show people in the vehicle at night . You unfortunately can't use both at the same time, but I do want to get the LTE pack for it.
Overall, this is an outstanding dash camera. It comes with so many features, you get lost in it and its a pleasant surprise when you remember it had a feature you forgot about. While the price tag may be up in cost, the quality of this camera definitely proves itself. I love it. Highly recommend

Dash Cam with Premium Features and 4K resolution
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Verdict: The Thinkware U3000 Pro Dash cam is about as good as it gets: front and back cameras, 4k and 2k resolution, radar detection for issues while parking, driver assistance system, and optional LTE module for live notifications. It is positioned to be a premium camera, especially considering the price point – plus the cost of the add-ons if you want them (LTE module and cabin cam), rather than an all-in-one camera that works for most people.
Initial impressions. It’s a small camera so it takes very little windshield real estate; it doesn’t obstruct your view while driving. The camera angle can be adjusted. It does not have a screen or a cabin camera, which I think is a missed opportunity to provide a complete solution for everyone, especially at this price range. Installation is through 3M tape, not suction. The cables should be long enough for any installation.
Installation. This is now my fourth dash cam install, so I am comfortable with figuring things out, however this install is a bit more complicated with the OBD-II wiring and the addition of the rear camera. If you are going to do this yourself, I highly recommend watching a video online; this will help a lot. Tucking the cable around the trim to get to the steering wheel area is fairly easy. To run the rear camera, I ran the wire on the passenger side, tucking the cable behind the upper weather stripping of the doors and the trim (B pillar and trunk area). Once the cable reaches the back, you need to have sufficient excess cable to allow your trunk to open. The 3M clips help with cable management but that is the least tidy part of the install. App setup was straightforward and similar to other dash cams.
App. The app makes it easy to adjust settings and view videos, but live-view has quite a lag sometimes. I find the app is a little confusing, and not super intuitive, so it’s worth noting that the app isn’t required for day-to-day use of the camera. Once the SD card is loaded in the camera, the camera will auto-loop record. You can then pull out the SD card and view footage on a computer.
Performance. The dashcam works well, every day, without really any additional work. And of course, it’s there for when you have an issue. With this camera, you get peace of mind knowing that you can receive live alerts (with optional LTE modem), view 20 sec clips of movements around your car later, or view time-lapses of the duration your car was parked. This is pretty amazing. Also impressive is the 4k resolution on the front camera and 2k resolution on the rear camera. This is by far the best resolution we have seen on any dash cam. Performance at night is also impressive, but I am still tweaking the settings to improve readability of details under different light conditions. Nevertheless, night performance is still better than our three previous dash cams.
Things I like:
- High resolution for both the front and rear cams, including 4K in the front and 2k in the back, both with HDR and night vision
- Sony Starvis 2 sensor shows commitment to highest quality imaging
- The 64GB Micro SD card is included!!
- Generous wide-angle lens for better viewing
- Buttons that are easy to understand and use
- Ample customization settings in the app, including resolution and FPS
- ADAS is great! It’s adding safety features our car didn’t have… Nice!
- Adjustable camera angle
- Compatible mount with the previous U3000, for those upgrading
- Rear camera cable was long enough, no issues
- Thank you for including the heat shield; pretty important in the summer for us
Things I don’t like:
- Rear camera is very cool, but it was a bit tricky to install. Some people may want to consider getting this installed professionally by Best Buy or someone else
- This cam does not have a screen display so you will need to use the app to align the cameras, or review any footage
- This cam does not have an included cabin camera, but you can buy the add-on cam
- Super Night Vision works well to see many details, BUT washes out some details with brightness like license plates
- I wish there was a “lock” or “save” or “send” button to easily protect and send a specific clip when you observe something worth keeping. Loop recording means that you have to download it within a certain timeframe or it will be erased by new recordings
- The app is not super intuitive
Overall, this is great dash cam. At this price range, I think this dash cam is more of a premium camera for someone who needs high-resolution and parking monitoring, without any compromise. In general, I highly recommend that everyone has a dash-cam for your protection and peace of mind; our cars and the cars of relatives all have dash cams. This camera comes packed with premium features. I highly recommend it if you can afford it.

I have owned lots of dash cameras over the years. Some were great, some were pretty bad. I was pretty excited to give this one a try since it is kind of touted as the king of dash cams.
Out of the box, it definitely feels and looks like a premium product. It comes with anything you would need to connect it to your car in various different ways. You can hard wire it to the fuse box, use the cigarette lighter plug, or you can also plug it right into your ODB port! I chose the ODB port because it was the easiest to do, and also be able to hide all of the cables for a nice clean installation. You basically just have to choose a good spot on your windshield. Usually as much out of the drivers view as possible, then just run the cable along and under the trim to get the cable where it needs to go. Don’t worry, they include tools to help you pull the trim so you can fairly easily route all the wires. This kit also includes a rear camera which can be a little harder to route wires all the way to the rear of the car. For mine, I found just going along the trim on the floor of the car worked best, but everyone’s car is different.
Once you get it hooked up, you are ready to go. This camera doesn’t have any kind of a screen on it, so in order to set it up and access most of the different functions, you need to do it through the app. That’s probably my only gripe about this camera is that there is no screen to easily make adjustments directly on the camera.
I found getting the camera paired to the app and getting it set up was a fairly easy process.
This features a 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) at 30fps or 2K QHD at 60fps front facing camera and a 2K QHD at 30fps rear camera.
The lenses on these cameras have the Sony STARVIS 2 sensors (IMX678 front, IMX675 rear) which have excellent low-light performance with Super Night Vision 4.0. They will also give you amazingly crisp and clear video during the day. I found the video quality to be far superior to any dash cam I have ever used before. During the day I can easily pick out plate numbers and street signs in the videos I record. The night time is extremely impressive as well. This is all due to the dual HDR processing to give you just the perfect exposure no matter what kind of lighting condition you are in.
This camera is also loaded with a ton of other safety and other cool features as well. There is lane departure, forward collision, and traffic signal alerts. While I found that those do work very well, I have them disabled because my car already has all of those sensors on it.
The camera also has built in GPS as well as wifi to make it very quick and easy to transfer videos from your camera to your phone.
Finally, there are the parking sensors. If you plug the camera into the ODB port, it will continue to power the camera in a very low power mode (don’t worry, it wont kill your battery) and will sense if your car is hit or bumped into when you are not around and it will start to record video so you can go back and see what happened later. I tested it out by rocking my car when it was shut of, and it did kick in and start to record video.
Overall, this an amazing camera. I Would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new dash cam. Apart from not having a screen on it, it is the perfect dash cam!

Top Notch Design and Smooth Function

The Thinkware U3000 Pro Dash Cam is an excellent dash cam. The package included all the cables needed plus a couple extras that add value. The extras included a micro SD card and also a heat shield to stick under the windshield mounting bracket. This heat shield is a necessary but rare accessory that is very useful in Arizona and other hotter climates. I have had several dash cams and radar detectors and the best way to mount them is basically with a 3M adhesive pad which this camera uses. Suction cups will always fall off in the heat and even some adhesive pads give up in 115-120 degree interiors when parked.
The installation is very smooth as the rear camera cable is very long, and the front cable utilizes the OBDII port and is plenty long enough to reach up near the center top of the windshield which seems the ideal spot in most vehicles. A subtle point is that the rear camera power connector has a slight indentation that clips in with a click when you attach the cable to the rear camera mini-USB power port; a very smart idea. A tip of my cap to the Thinkware engineers for this tiny but very useful design point. Note the ends of the cable are marked F and R to ensure you use the correct connector in the rear which does keep the cable from falling out when hatch lids go up and down.
I did connect to my Android phone and there was one hiccup in this process due to the install process on the cell phone being a little vague. What happens is that after you install the app, connect to power and power on the camera, there will be a need to make a selection that you are never told to do. The phone will not 'see' the camera but you will see the directions 'Press the WiFi button' for 3 seconds. Nothing happens except the WiFi light on the dash cam starts blinking. There was/is a 'Register the Dashcam' box on the phone screen. I thought this meant to register the product but it does not. When you press the 'Register the Dashcam' box it will step you through the WiFi connection process very smoothly and voila you are connected. So the process worked great at making the connection once I knew to press this box on the screen.
I think the Quick Start Guide should say Open the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app, press the WiFi button on the dashcam, and then say tap the 'Register the Dash Cam' box on the screen. Many dash cams fail to connect to your phone so ultimately I was pleased that this dash cam did connect quickly every time.
The front videos are absolutely clear, smooth and gorgeous; and they are 4K. The rear camera is only 2K but it does have very clear videos as well. With wide viewing angles and great night vision, this dash cam has gone to the top of my list. The park mode is an outstanding feature that you can enable via a switch on the OBDII connector. Since this product has both front and rear cameras and wide viewing angles, this feature provides a superior security mode.
The dash cam of course has all the normal loop recording and impact clip preservation features as well. I highly recommend this very well designed and sized unit that will fit a larger or smaller windshield without blocking your view.

Really Nice Dash Cam

The Thinkware U3000 is a really nice dash cam. It features a 4K front camera and 2K rear camera. It comes with everything you need to install in your vehicle. I was able to install it myself, but you may need to get professional installation if you're not comfortable with tucking cables away behind the vehicle trim. The front camera is not super adjustable, but it does tilt up and down slightly for minor adjustments. The rear camera can do a full 90 degree up/down tilt to accommodate for differently angled rear windows. To help set up the cameras, you download the Thinkware Dashcam Link app. There is also a Thinkware Connected App, but that is if you're going to pay for the additional "connected" features, which I opted not to, so I only ever used the Link App. During setup, the app actually gives you a good guide on where to place your camera by overlaying lines where everything should line up, such as the hood of the car. The video quality of the camera is really nice, capturing 4K, 30fps video by default. But they also give the option of 2K 60fps, which is really nice, since you may actually catch more detail at a higher framerate since you are in a moving vehicle. It's nice to have the option of a higher framerate capture. The dashcam comes with a 64GB sd card preinstalled, which is at least more than some dashcams come with, I still prefer larger capacity. So I replaced it with a larger one. You can access the footage from SD card directly, or by connecting to the cam with the app. The app actually worked better than other dash cams I've used. They are usually too slow to be convenient. But the Thinkware app is actually pretty quick to load your clips. From there you can save them directly on your phone. The app also offers a lot of configuration options if you like to mess with the settings of your cam. But I tend to keep mine the way it comes. The only thing I changed was including my speed on the footage. The cam also includes a parking mode, which will capture footage if any motion is detected via the built-in radar sensor. You can adjust the sensitivity of this mode if you find you are getting too many false recordings. When you turn on the car, the cam will give you a little voice report of any footage or events that occurred while in Parking mode. Overall this little camera is really packed full of features. The video quality is great and the app is actually very useful. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a good dashcam.

Good performance, no screen a definite hindrance

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This cam has a distinctly utilitarian design, and the absence of any built‑in display screen stood out immediately. Honestly, I would rather have one that does have a screen that I can use to configure, review footage, etc. for the price. The front camera resembles a compact radar detector more than a traditional dash cam, which may appeal to some users but may be unexpected for others. Despite the unusual form factor, the materials and build quality appear solid and appropriate for a higher-end camera system.
Installation was more complex in my case due to having an insurance device occupying the OBDII port, which meant the included OBD power cable could not be used. I opted for the hardwiring kit in order to make use of the parking mode features, as the 12V adapter option would not provide constant power in a vehicle where the outlet turns off when the ignition is off. Once I had the appropriate cable, installation proceeded smoothly. I have installed front and rear dash cams before, so routing the cables and managing the excess length was straightforward. One limitation worth noting is that the front camera lens cannot be adjusted horizontally. The vertical angle is fine, but the left–right angle is fixed, so the initial placement must be precise to avoid off‑center recordings.
Video quality from both cameras met expectations across all conditions I tested, including daytime, nighttime, rain, and fog. The 4K front camera captures detailed footage without excessive glare or noise, and the 2K rear camera performs adequately for documenting activity behind the vehicle. I did not observe any issues with exposure handling or motion clarity in normal driving scenarios.
The software experience has room for improvement. THINKWARE currently offers two apps in the app store, and determining which one to use caused initial confusion. Once the correct app was installed, pairing was straightforward and stable, and I was able to complete a required firmware update without difficulty. The app itself offers enough functionality to review files and adjust core settings, but the overall usefulness is limited beyond basic tasks. An additional inconvenience is that the camera does not function when plugged into USB power alone; it requires vehicle power to operate. This complicates initial configuration, as it is difficult to test and adjust the camera without temporarily powering up the vehicle and managing loose wires during setup.
Parking mode sensitivity worked as expected, reliably capturing triggers from even minor bumps or movement. File access for these events was straightforward. Voice alerts are clear and understandable despite the small onboard speaker, and GPS performance was consistent with other units I have used. I did not encounter false triggers or issues with positioning data.
In daily use, the camera has been reliable. The 32GB memory card I installed works without errors, formats quickly, and overwrites files as expected during loop recording. The camera boots quickly with the vehicle, and I have not seen any freezes, crashes, or missed recordings. In my plug‑in hybrid, I have not noticed any negative impact on the vehicle battery while using parking mode.
Overall, the THINKWARE U3000 PRO performs well in terms of core recording quality and reliability. The installation constraints, app confusion, and lack of USB-powered functionality introduce some friction, but once installed, the system behaves consistently and captures clear footage in a variety of conditions.

I have had an older model Thinkware Dash Cam in my vehicle for two years now and I remember at the time being very impressed with how easy it was to install and set up for daily use. I fortunately have not had to rely on the dash cam for anything major since installing, but it has been a great device to have access to and cannot imagine myself without a dash cam ever again. The easy install and ease of use has been no different now that I have upgraded to this new U3000 Pro Model. Just as easy to install on my vehicle and get all set up on the android app, and gosh are the features endless on this new model. The feature I am most excited about on this model is the upgraded Super Night Vision 4.0. Living in the midwest and now that winter is here, I leave for work in the dark and drive home in the dark. I noticed some footage from my previous camera tended to be very dark when I was in low light conditions so upgrading to better lighting capabilities was a priority for me. All the new features on this model make it feel like it is a state of the art home security system but for your car. I am really liking the radar parking mode, since I have my car sitting in the work parking lot all day everyday with a lot of utility vans around, I feel more comfortable being armed with front and rear cameras that record motion and impact movements even when parked, an incredible feature. I am also glad Thinkware thought to include a CPL Filter, as a photographer I know the benefits of a CPL filter and I can definitely see it instantly improves glares and reflections on the inside of my windshield area, especially on sunny days. Overall this model, although just a couple years newer than my old camera, the video quality is far superior. Thinkware really stepped up their game with this one, as the high dynamic range and the true 4k quality is definitely noticeable. Things like street signs and more importantly, liscense plates are very clear and visible should they be needed. I really recommend this Thinkware front and rear dash cam kit to anyone who has a car, it's a must these days.
