I had the Thinkware U3000 Pro with the rear camera installed in my SUV, replacing the u3000 I had been using for a few years.
Installation was straightforward but not exactly quick. The front camera mounts with 3M tape like most dashcams, and the wiring is pretty clean if you tuck it into the headliner and down the A-pillar. The hardest part was running the long rear camera cable from the front to the back window without it showing too much. I ended up going around the passenger side and under the carpet, which took about an hour and a half total. Hardwiring it to the fuse box for parking mode was easy with the included kit.
Video quality is noticeably better than the regular U3000 I had before. The front is real 4K now (not upscaled) and it's sharp day and night. Even at night on dark roads I can clearly read plates on oncoming cars from a good distance. The rear camera is 2K instead of 1080p on the old model and that makes a big difference. The Starvis 2 sensor really does help in low light.
The Thinkware app is okay. It connects quickly over Wi-Fi most of the time, lets me download clips without pulling the card, and I can change settings from my phone. Sometimes it loses connection if I'm too far from the car. Cloud features work fine with a Hotspot and I get push notifications pretty much instantly if it detects an impact in parking mode.
Parking mode works well too. It caught someone dinging my door in a parking lot last month and the notification came through within seconds. Battery drain is low with the cutoff set to 12V.
My only complaints are the rear cable could be a bit longer for bigger vehicles, and the voice prompts are a little loud even on the lowest setting. I also wish the app showed live view from both cameras at once instead of having to switch.
Compared to the regular U3000, the Pro is definitely worth the extra money if you want clearer plates at night and faster cloud notifications. It's not cheap, but it's been reliable the whole time I've had it.

Capable Dash Cam with Great Features—Not Perfect

I recently installed THINKWARE U3000 PRO 4K UHD Front and 2K QHD Rear Dash Cam in my car, and I can say it delivers on many of its promises — it’s a good-value dash cam, especially given its feature set. Setup was straightforward: the built-in GPS, dual RADAR, and Wi-Fi pairing all worked as advertised, and the device slotted into my car without much fuss. Video quality is impressive — front 4K and rear 2K footage from dual Sony STARVIS 2 sensors gives sharp, clear images day and night, and the wide viewing angles help catch details like license plates or street signs.

The integrated radar + parking-surveillance modes also stand out. With motion and impact detection, buffered recording before and after events, and built-in thermal protection, I feel more secure both when driving and when parked. The Wi-Fi and mobile-app compatibility (on iOS and Android) make it easy to connect and download footage when needed.

Still — it’s not without flaws, which is why I’m only giving it three stars. The biggest downside is that some of the extra features feel a bit locked behind optional accessories or setup requirements — for instance, full parking-surveillance mode needs hardwiring or an OBD-II power cable.
THINKWARE EU | Official Site
+1
Also, though the camera supports up to 512 GB microSD storage, managing and reviewing footage isn’t always seamless; I found the mobile-app experience a bit clunky when trying to browse or export recordings. And for what is essentially a high-end dash cam, the price point forces a fair expectation — but I occasionally wish the interface were more intuitive and flexible.
In short: the U3000 PRO is a powerful, feature-rich dash cam that offers excellent clarity, solid night performance, and thoughtful extras like radar-based parking surveillance. But the optional extras for full functionality and software quirks hold it back from being a true top-tier pick. Worth it for drivers who want a robust all-rounder — yet not quite perfect.

The Thinkware U3000 Pro Dash Cam is an excellent dash cam. The package included all the cables needed plus a couple extras that add value. The extras included a micro SD card and also a heat shield to stick under the windshield mounting bracket. This heat shield is a necessary but rare accessory that is very useful in Arizona and other hotter climates. I have had several dash cams and radar detectors and the best way to mount them is basically with a 3M adhesive pad which this camera uses. Suction cups will always fall off in the heat and even some adhesive pads give up in 115-120 degree interiors when parked.
The installation is very smooth as the rear camera cable is very long, and the front cable utilizes the OBDII port and is plenty long enough to reach up near the center top of the windshield which seems the ideal spot in most vehicles. A subtle point is that the rear camera power connector has a slight indentation that clips in with a click when you attach the cable to the rear camera mini-USB power port; a very smart idea. A tip of my cap to the Thinkware engineers for this tiny but very useful design point. Note the ends of the cable are marked F and R to ensure you use the correct connector in the rear which does keep the cable from falling out when hatch lids go up and down.
I did connect to my Android phone and there was one hiccup in this process due to the install process on the cell phone being a little vague. What happens is that after you install the app, connect to power and power on the camera, there will be a need to make a selection that you are never told to do. The phone will not 'see' the camera but you will see the directions 'Press the WiFi button' for 3 seconds. Nothing happens except the WiFi light on the dash cam starts blinking. There was/is a 'Register the Dashcam' box on the phone screen. I thought this meant to register the product but it does not. When you press the 'Register the Dashcam' box it will step you through the WiFi connection process very smoothly and voila you are connected. So the process worked great at making the connection once I knew to press this box on the screen.
I think the Quick Start Guide should say Open the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app, press the WiFi button on the dashcam, and then say tap the 'Register the Dash Cam' box on the screen. Many dash cams fail to connect to your phone so ultimately I was pleased that this dash cam did connect quickly every time.
The front videos are absolutely clear, smooth and gorgeous; and they are 4K. The rear camera is only 2K but it does have very clear videos as well. With wide viewing angles and great night vision, this dash cam has gone to the top of my list. The park mode is an outstanding feature that you can enable via a switch on the OBDII connector. Since this product has both front and rear cameras and wide viewing angles, this feature provides a superior security mode.
The dash cam of course has all the normal loop recording and impact clip preservation features as well. I highly recommend this very well designed and sized unit that will fit a larger or smaller windshield without blocking your view.

I can front load this review by saying I enjoy the camera and it's features but I just wish it came in a smaller package. On my car, centering the camera results in taking up a not insignificant portion of my visibility because there's a big piece of dash behind the mirror. Other than that, though, it's a great dashcam.
Setup is only has difficult as the installation for you. Setting this up in a brand new car that I'm not super familiar with was a challenge to find places to hide the wires. Plugging into the OBDII port is nice since you don't have to attach to the right fuses and such (There is still a kit sold separately if you'd rather hard-wire that way). So just depending on your car and how hidden you want all the wires (especially the wire running to the rear view camera) is going to determine how tough the actual install is for you. There's included sticky pads (and extras) for both of the cameras as well as a sun shield that can reflect the sun so it's not beading straight onto the hot part of the camera.
Connecting the dashcam to the app is fairly nice using the standard "Link" app. I'm always a fan of an app that doesn't require a login and the regular Thinkware Link app just connects straight to the dashcam without the need for any unnecessary accounts.
Dashcams that get out of your way and you don't really think about them being there are the best. You'll get some alerts on this one depending on what settings you have but most of them are things you can disable if you don't need them (like if your car already has front end collision warnings).
Accessing the live feed of the camera warns you that it'll directly connect to the dashcam via wifi and then once you get connected, you can see both the front and back cameras. There's guide lines on the front camera for you to adjust where the top of your hood is. The live camera has about a second or so delay which isn't too bad in my opinion. If you're not into 30 fps video (at 4K), you can change the video settings to 1440p 60 fps as well.
You can use the app to access all of the recorded videos which is probably the way I'll access them for the most part but if you want to use your computer, the videos are all saved in folders according to what kind of shot they are. Incidents and manual recordings are separated. There's a lot of different categories where things can get saved so it's pretty well organized if you need to browse things on a computer to find exactly what you're looking for.
The video quality is really good during the day and about as good as you can hope for at night. The extra automatic HDR gives you a really nice contrast that helps see things like words a lot clearer than most dashcams I've ever seen at night. This goes for both the front and back cameras.
All said, this is a great dashcam with great picture quality in both directions. The feature set is very customizable and exhaustive for a dashcam and the only negative thing I can say about it is just that the front unit just takes up a little too much visible space on my windshield. The app is easy to use and doesn't require a login. I can highly recommend this unit.

I'd never heard of this brand before but after using this camera for a while I've got to say I believe in their products now.
The camera takes a little bit of effort to install it properly but it's worth taking the time to do it right. Once installed it's rather unobtrusive and does not get in your line of sight viewing out the front windshield of your vehicle (a 2019 Equinox in my case). I've got a 512GB SD card installed and the captured video quality if exceptional. I have no doubt that any captured video will be more than adequate for any use whether because you are capturing video for your YouTube channel or legal needs in case of a collision. I've not installed the rear camera yet but it is on my list of things to get done soon.
The built in night vision is much better than I expected it to be making viewing video shot at night look clear and viewable. The ability to connect via wi-fi to my iPhone to view and offload videos is a God send and much appreciated.
Overall I've been rather impressed with this camera and highly recommend it to friends looking for an above average dash cam.

Road Recording Readiness

[PROS]
Accurate Detection: The integrated shock sensors does a great job in picking up on awkward motions. In parking mode, the default sensitivity settings recorded whenever I opened the car door or accidentally bumped into the vehicle. While driving, the U3000 Pro produced an audible alert when it sensed that I had a rough interaction on the roadway.
Appreciable Video: The 4K/2K resolution combo is executed well with the U3000 Pro. The quality is great enough to determine specific characteristics of vehicles, signs, and people. It's not as superb as shooting video from a high quality camera, but it certainly gets the job done. The night vision fared very well also. I was able to look back at recordings and make out a decent amount of detail that will prove very important is various driving scenarios.
Intuitive Software: I've used the dash cam software before with an older Thinkware cam, and it seems improved. It was simpler to setup the device and toggle different settings. I was able to adjust recording times, shock sensitivity, and configure different modes with relative ease.
[CONS]
Connectivity Conflicts: My vehicle is equipped with Android Auto which can be sometimes be finnicky. It can be a hassle to connect given that phone will prioritize the vehicle over the U3000 Pro. I'm not sure if there's some tweaks that can be done to make the process more convenient, but I'll assess most of the blame to the Android OS.
Installation Pet Peeve: One of my less impactful gripes with this product has to deal with the lack of certain setup related items. For starters, there's not a pry/trim tool which would make installation more convenient. Furthermore, Thinkware only includes 3 cable holder clips. In my opinion, its never enough especially if you have a SUV where arrangement is more complicated.
[CONCLUSION]
The Thinkware U3000 Pro makes for an excellent device to record my day to day driving. The device performs well enough to give me peace of mind knowing that I'm covered in unfortunate situations. I would highly recommend it despite small quirks.

I have owned lots of dash cameras over the years. Some were great, some were pretty bad. I was pretty excited to give this one a try since it is kind of touted as the king of dash cams.
Out of the box, it definitely feels and looks like a premium product. It comes with anything you would need to connect it to your car in various different ways. You can hard wire it to the fuse box, use the cigarette lighter plug, or you can also plug it right into your ODB port! I chose the ODB port because it was the easiest to do, and also be able to hide all of the cables for a nice clean installation. You basically just have to choose a good spot on your windshield. Usually as much out of the drivers view as possible, then just run the cable along and under the trim to get the cable where it needs to go. Don’t worry, they include tools to help you pull the trim so you can fairly easily route all the wires. This kit also includes a rear camera which can be a little harder to route wires all the way to the rear of the car. For mine, I found just going along the trim on the floor of the car worked best, but everyone’s car is different.
Once you get it hooked up, you are ready to go. This camera doesn’t have any kind of a screen on it, so in order to set it up and access most of the different functions, you need to do it through the app. That’s probably my only gripe about this camera is that there is no screen to easily make adjustments directly on the camera.
I found getting the camera paired to the app and getting it set up was a fairly easy process.
This features a 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) at 30fps or 2K QHD at 60fps front facing camera and a 2K QHD at 30fps rear camera.
The lenses on these cameras have the Sony STARVIS 2 sensors (IMX678 front, IMX675 rear) which have excellent low-light performance with Super Night Vision 4.0. They will also give you amazingly crisp and clear video during the day. I found the video quality to be far superior to any dash cam I have ever used before. During the day I can easily pick out plate numbers and street signs in the videos I record. The night time is extremely impressive as well. This is all due to the dual HDR processing to give you just the perfect exposure no matter what kind of lighting condition you are in.
This camera is also loaded with a ton of other safety and other cool features as well. There is lane departure, forward collision, and traffic signal alerts. While I found that those do work very well, I have them disabled because my car already has all of those sensors on it.
The camera also has built in GPS as well as wifi to make it very quick and easy to transfer videos from your camera to your phone.
Finally, there are the parking sensors. If you plug the camera into the ODB port, it will continue to power the camera in a very low power mode (don’t worry, it wont kill your battery) and will sense if your car is hit or bumped into when you are not around and it will start to record video so you can go back and see what happened later. I tested it out by rocking my car when it was shut of, and it did kick in and start to record video.
Overall, this an amazing camera. I Would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new dash cam. Apart from not having a screen on it, it is the perfect dash cam!

The THINKWARE U3000 PRO delivers some of the best dashcam video quality available that I have seen. The 4K front camera captures sharp, detailed footage that makes license plates, faces, and road signs easy to read, even at a distance. Low-light performance is strong too. Night recordings look clean and balanced without the grain or blown-out highlights you often see in lesser cameras. Even compared to the previous version of this camera that was already a top performer, you really get better dynamic range throughout the image. Whether you’re driving in bright sun, shadows, or streetlights, the footage stays clear and usable.
One standout feature of this model is the radar-based parking surveillance. The radar module detects motion more precisely than traditional sensors, which lets the camera stay in a low-power state until it needs to wake and record. This means longer protection, fewer false triggers, and better coverage when your car is parked. This was another big selling point of the previous version, but this one has improved range and really makes it a standout dashcam versus the competition.
The top-tier video quality and smart radar detection make the U3000 PRO a reliable choice for capturing important details in any situation. If you want a dashcam that delivers both sharp footage and smarter protection, this one stands out.

The Rolls-Royce of Dash Camera's
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Thinkware U3000 PRO 4k dashcam is a powerful tool to protect your vehicle and equipment.
It includes and front facing and also a rear facing camera, and has an advanced dual radar technology to assist with parking mode features.
Out of the box, set up is fairly easy. The front and rear camera's use double sided tape to adhere to the window. The rear camera has to mount on the rear window, and I would recommend trying to place it somewhere besides the actual window if you have aftermarket tint. If you ever need to try to take the camera off the tint will rip and have to be replaced.
The camera comes with a 64GB memory card, which for 2 camera's, does not provide a whole lot of recording time before recording over itself. The card is upgrade-able to 512GB if you ever did want a bigger card. The camera does use file compression when storing the videos that does help, but with using parking mode, it will tie up much more memory.
You will need to run the power/data cable from the rear dash cam to the front dash cam, which may require trim pieces in the car needing to be removed to cleanly run the wiring through the car. It is very easy to plug in to each module.
Before installing the front dashcam, it is recommended to install the included cpl filter onto the camera lens to filter out excess light, glares, and reflections. It does make quite the difference.
The main power supply for the camera is an OBD-II cable. This allows constant power to be used for parking modes when the car is off. All vehicles are different with the location of the OBD-II port so you will need to make sure to find out where yours is.
App and connectivity- You will need to download the Thinkware Dash Cam Link app in order to properly use your dash cam. Once you download and register your camera, the camera will try to connect over Bluetooth. After pairing and some more set up, it will ask you to connect to your phone over wifi. This is needed to fully control the camera. This dash cam recommends having a 5.0ghz wifi connection. Most new phones have this connectivity, but a lot of older phones do not, and some phones that have it, may have that option turned off, So you may want to check your phones wifi settings. It will still work and connect, but the features may not respond the best or may have overall connection issues.
Features and usage- This dash cam is like the Rolls-Royce of features. Besides having camera features, this also includes a front collision warning system, a front vehicle departure system, which is really cool, as it will alert you to when you are stopped and traffic in front of you starts moving again. It also has a traffic light monitor that detects when traffic lights turn from red to green. It's not fully dependable and you need to still observe the road before just taking off, as I have had the alert go off on green turn lights when I am sitting on a straight red. The onboard GPS also included map data to alert you to speed trap areas and areas that have red light cameras. You can adjust all of these settings in the menu's in the app.
For parking, this camera has motion and impact detection monitoring, upgraded with the Radar sensors in the camera for more precise detection. I love this feature. I just wish I could add more cameras for side impacts like from other peoples car doors. It is not so much a feature I can use right now going into winter, but this also includes a smart parking mode that will regulate the power if the temperature in the car or direct heat from the sun reaches 150 degrees and will only record if a direct impact is detected. The parking modes record a 20 second total video of 10 seconds before, and 10 seconds after the motion or impact detection.
Video and audio quality- The front camera records in 4k resolution (2160p) but only at 30fps, and the rear camera records at 2k resolution (1440p) at 30fps. You can also run the front camera at 2k resolution but at 60fps. I personally like higher fps vs. resolution, so still being able to record in 2k at a higher resolution is a better option for me. The video quality is very clear and detailed (especially with the filter attached) for 4k and 2k, I just would like to see 4k cameras be able to run at 60fps. The rear camera will only run 2k at 30fps.
These cameras have wide dynamic range and HDR as well, which helps with color clarity and brightness.
Night driving is very clear. The Sony Starvis 2 sensor makes low light situations very clear and visible.
Sound playback is clean and clear, and you can also hear quite a bit of sound from outside the car as well. No complaints.
This dash cam also has some add ons to make things even better. You can buy an LTE transmitter that uses a cell signal to allow you to remote view your camera from anywhere, which is pretty cool.
It also has a cabin camera that you can add to the front camera that uses infrared to clearly show people in the vehicle at night . You unfortunately can't use both at the same time, but I do want to get the LTE pack for it.
Overall, this is an outstanding dash camera. It comes with so many features, you get lost in it and its a pleasant surprise when you remember it had a feature you forgot about. While the price tag may be up in cost, the quality of this camera definitely proves itself. I love it. Highly recommend

I have had an older model Thinkware Dash Cam in my vehicle for two years now and I remember at the time being very impressed with how easy it was to install and set up for daily use. I fortunately have not had to rely on the dash cam for anything major since installing, but it has been a great device to have access to and cannot imagine myself without a dash cam ever again. The easy install and ease of use has been no different now that I have upgraded to this new U3000 Pro Model. Just as easy to install on my vehicle and get all set up on the android app, and gosh are the features endless on this new model. The feature I am most excited about on this model is the upgraded Super Night Vision 4.0. Living in the midwest and now that winter is here, I leave for work in the dark and drive home in the dark. I noticed some footage from my previous camera tended to be very dark when I was in low light conditions so upgrading to better lighting capabilities was a priority for me. All the new features on this model make it feel like it is a state of the art home security system but for your car. I am really liking the radar parking mode, since I have my car sitting in the work parking lot all day everyday with a lot of utility vans around, I feel more comfortable being armed with front and rear cameras that record motion and impact movements even when parked, an incredible feature. I am also glad Thinkware thought to include a CPL Filter, as a photographer I know the benefits of a CPL filter and I can definitely see it instantly improves glares and reflections on the inside of my windshield area, especially on sunny days. Overall this model, although just a couple years newer than my old camera, the video quality is far superior. Thinkware really stepped up their game with this one, as the high dynamic range and the true 4k quality is definitely noticeable. Things like street signs and more importantly, liscense plates are very clear and visible should they be needed. I really recommend this Thinkware front and rear dash cam kit to anyone who has a car, it's a must these days.

Clear Footage and Peace of Mind — A Solid Dash Cam

I installed the **Thinkware U3000 PRO** in my car, and it’s been fantastic so far. The **video quality** is excellent — the front 4K camera captures every detail, while the 2K rear camera covers behind me well. Even at night, I can clearly read license plates, street signs, and road markings. I just wish the rear camera were 4K too, for the same level of detail as the front.
The **radar parking mode** is a standout feature. It detects motion and impacts while my car is parked, giving me peace of mind. GPS tracking and safety alerts log my routes, speed, and time, while warning about speed cameras and red-light zones. The app makes reviewing footage and getting alerts easy, though it can be a bit finicky at times.
The build quality feels **premium and professional**, and installation was straightforward. To fully utilize the parking and radar functions, a hardwired or OBD-II connection is required, which is easy to set up.
Overall, this is a **high-quality dash cam** that goes beyond just recording. It’s like having an extra set of eyes on the road and while my car is parked. Yes, it’s pricier than basic dash cams, but the features, clarity, and peace of mind make it worth it.
---
### **Pros**
* Front 4K video is crystal-clear day and night
* Radar parking mode keeps your car protected while parked
* GPS logs routes, speed, and time; includes safety alerts
* Premium, professional build
* Easy app connectivity for reviewing footage and alerts
### **Cons**
* Rear camera is 2K — not as sharp as the front
* Full parking/radar features require hardwiring or OBD-II setup
* App can be clunky when downloading clips
* Higher price than basic dash cams
* Occasional minor image quirks in rear footage under certain lighting

Feature Rich, But No Image Stabilization

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Thinkware U3000PRO is a feature rich dashcam with a remote wired rear camera, excellent video, especially at night, parking monitoring, driver assistance alerts, and remote monitoring with an additional LTE module. Ultimately, I found it a bit disappointing, but that may be my particular situation.
Caveat: This review was done with the camera not completely installed. I'm having it professionally installed by BestBuy and we're waiting on extension wiring to route through the cabinets and headliner of the van. The front camera is temporarily but solidly mounted, but the rear cam is just tacked to the rear door windows. The USB cable and the cable to the OBD2 are just draped through the van.
I wanted a front and back dashcam for our camper van, which meant it needed a separate cam for the rear that could be mounted on the rear door window. I had been using a dash mounted GoPro (11) set up for rotating clips until a permanent dashcam was installed. The Thinkware U3000PRO seemed to fill the bill on all counts. The forward unit does not have a screen, but relies on the phone app for viewing. I find the built in screens to be distracting while driving, so this was a plus for me.
First off, the video quality is excellent. The front cam video at 4K compares favorably to the video from the GoPro and the night time video is even better. The Sony sensors are really good! The rear cam, which also uses a Sony sensor at 2K video, also provides excellent video. We had some foggy days and even that provided pretty clear video.
However... that was when not moving. The U3000PRO does not have any image stabilization, between the temporary mounting and the native van bouncing, the video when moving can be pretty shaky. This was disappointment number one. Hopefully, this will improve when the units are permanently mounted, Thinkware claims some vibration isolation in the mounts. Since digital image stabilization is a purely software feature, perhaps they will think about providing an upgrade in the future.
Which brings me to disappointment number two. Not only is the rear cam a wired slave cam, Thinkware uses mini USB ports on the main and rear camera for connections. While they provide a 25ft cable, it's not long enough for a van, after tucking into the headliner and snaking into the rear door port. Try to find mini USB cables! USBc ports would have been a much better choice. The funny thing is that Thinkware provides a USBc port for their LTE module.
The Android app seems to work well and I haven't had any problems with it. The cams are easily set up and the videos can be retrieved over the camera wifi quickly. As noted, the camera is connected to the ODB2 port for power. There are a couple of switches on the ODB2 connector, one to enable parking mode and one to enable Driver Assistance. Assistance was turned off, the van already has driver assistance modes. I did kick the bumper to test parking mode and managed to record a video of myself, so good there. The LTE module, which enables cloud storage and monitoring, is optional and extra ($150 for a 3yr basic service). I haven't tried it, but it's available.
In summary, the Thinkware U3000PRO is a top of the line dashcam with a couple of ideosyncratic features that detract from an otherwise excellent product. Recommended, with reservations.

I’ve been running the Thinkware U3000 Pro in my car for a couple weeks now and the video quality has been great. The front 4K footage is incredibly sharp, capturing fine details like license plates, road signs, and lane markings with ease. Daytime footage looks crisp and natural, and nighttime recording is equally impressive with clear visibility and strong detail even in low light. The rear 2K camera adds excellent coverage and gives extra confidence, especially in traffic or parking situations. Having clear footage from both angles makes a big difference.
The dascham cam was really easy to set up and install for a front and rear dash cam system. Everything in the box felt well thought out, from the mounting hardware to the cable lengths. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and I had both the 4K front camera and the 2K rear camera mounted and running without any frustration. Routing the rear cable was straightforward, and once installed, the cameras feel solid and secure with no rattling or shifting while driving.
Overall, the Thinkware U3000 Pro delivers exactly what I was hoping for. Simple installation paired with outstanding front and rear video clarity makes this a dash cam I can trust every time I get behind the wheel.

Dash Cam with Premium Features and 4K resolution

Verdict: The Thinkware U3000 Pro Dash cam is about as good as it gets: front and back cameras, 4k and 2k resolution, radar detection for issues while parking, driver assistance system, and optional LTE module for live notifications. It is positioned to be a premium camera, especially considering the price point – plus the cost of the add-ons if you want them (LTE module and cabin cam), rather than an all-in-one camera that works for most people.
Initial impressions. It’s a small camera so it takes very little windshield real estate; it doesn’t obstruct your view while driving. The camera angle can be adjusted. It does not have a screen or a cabin camera, which I think is a missed opportunity to provide a complete solution for everyone, especially at this price range. Installation is through 3M tape, not suction. The cables should be long enough for any installation.
Installation. This is now my fourth dash cam install, so I am comfortable with figuring things out, however this install is a bit more complicated with the OBD-II wiring and the addition of the rear camera. If you are going to do this yourself, I highly recommend watching a video online; this will help a lot. Tucking the cable around the trim to get to the steering wheel area is fairly easy. To run the rear camera, I ran the wire on the passenger side, tucking the cable behind the upper weather stripping of the doors and the trim (B pillar and trunk area). Once the cable reaches the back, you need to have sufficient excess cable to allow your trunk to open. The 3M clips help with cable management but that is the least tidy part of the install. App setup was straightforward and similar to other dash cams.
App. The app makes it easy to adjust settings and view videos, but live-view has quite a lag sometimes. I find the app is a little confusing, and not super intuitive, so it’s worth noting that the app isn’t required for day-to-day use of the camera. Once the SD card is loaded in the camera, the camera will auto-loop record. You can then pull out the SD card and view footage on a computer.
Performance. The dashcam works well, every day, without really any additional work. And of course, it’s there for when you have an issue. With this camera, you get peace of mind knowing that you can receive live alerts (with optional LTE modem), view 20 sec clips of movements around your car later, or view time-lapses of the duration your car was parked. This is pretty amazing. Also impressive is the 4k resolution on the front camera and 2k resolution on the rear camera. This is by far the best resolution we have seen on any dash cam. Performance at night is also impressive, but I am still tweaking the settings to improve readability of details under different light conditions. Nevertheless, night performance is still better than our three previous dash cams.
Things I like:
- High resolution for both the front and rear cams, including 4K in the front and 2k in the back, both with HDR and night vision
- Sony Starvis 2 sensor shows commitment to highest quality imaging
- The 64GB Micro SD card is included!!
- Generous wide-angle lens for better viewing
- Buttons that are easy to understand and use
- Ample customization settings in the app, including resolution and FPS
- ADAS is great! It’s adding safety features our car didn’t have… Nice!
- Adjustable camera angle
- Compatible mount with the previous U3000, for those upgrading
- Rear camera cable was long enough, no issues
- Thank you for including the heat shield; pretty important in the summer for us
Things I don’t like:
- Rear camera is very cool, but it was a bit tricky to install. Some people may want to consider getting this installed professionally by Best Buy or someone else
- This cam does not have a screen display so you will need to use the app to align the cameras, or review any footage
- This cam does not have an included cabin camera, but you can buy the add-on cam
- Super Night Vision works well to see many details, BUT washes out some details with brightness like license plates
- I wish there was a “lock” or “save” or “send” button to easily protect and send a specific clip when you observe something worth keeping. Loop recording means that you have to download it within a certain timeframe or it will be erased by new recordings
- The app is not super intuitive
Overall, this is great dash cam. At this price range, I think this dash cam is more of a premium camera for someone who needs high-resolution and parking monitoring, without any compromise. In general, I highly recommend that everyone has a dash-cam for your protection and peace of mind; our cars and the cars of relatives all have dash cams. This camera comes packed with premium features. I highly recommend it if you can afford it.

The Thinkware U300 Pro 4K UHD Front and 2k QHD Rear Dashcam is absolutely one of the greatest out there. With the built-in GPS and so many other amazing features, it actually makes me want to remove my other two dashcams and purchase two more of these.
While I’m still learning how to use all of the features, this thing has a user interface that is fairly simple and easy to use. Overall, I think this is the dashcam to get, it states it has built in speed and red light camera warning systems, but fortunately for me, I live in an area that has not implemented those quite yet (Hopefully never).
Overall, the video quality is pretty good. Keeping the 4k at 30fps is good. I like 60fps, but if you want the 4K, you need to understand that the fps has to be lower.
We just installed this in our vehicle, and with the way people drive today, I can tell you it's worth having. It’s not hard to install at all. It does come with everything you need.
One thing I would like to point out is, when purchasing a micro SD Card, don’t cheap out, the UHS IIs and the write speeds are where you will need to be, it will matter in the end.

I’ve been really impressed with the Thinkware U3000 Pro so far. The 4K front camera captures everything in such sharp detail, even in darker areas or in busy traffic. The rear camera is just as clean, and together they give a full picture that feels way more reassuring than other dash cams I’ve used. The radar and parking features activate quickly and quietly, and the built-in GPS has been spot on. The app is simple, connects fast on iOS, and makes it easy to review clips without any hassle. The whole setup looks sleek once mounted and doesn’t take up too much windshield space. The quality of the footage is the main thing that stands out. Even fast movement and headlights at night don’t wash anything out. It definitely feels like a premium upgrade for everyday driving and peace of mind. I also think this is one of those systems that benefits from professional installation so everything is wired cleanly and performs the way it’s meant to. Overall, it’s a great investment if you want top tier clarity and security. As someone who was rear ended this is great.
