this is a classic I remembered as a young kid and I loved it.

Definitely on my list of must have classic SF oldies. The DVD is visually bright and will be on my play list for years to come. I've seen it many times on TV but wanted to decide when I can see it again. I get a kick out of the Metalluna set, and all of the little details. Love the line, "the whole thing smells..." I'm not sure I'd get on the plane either, but it's safe to watch what happens on a standard TV if you don't get mystery packages from Metalluna. A serious plot, but I can find humor in these old movies and it keeps me coming back. Sometimes newer movies get too complex and technical for my mind, which was designed in the 1950's. If you like this movie, another recommendation is the movie Kronos.

I am addicted to 50s scify. This dvd is solid. A fair price too. The movie is typical for old scify. Sure there are plenty of better ones but This Island Earth was scarce so I had to get a hard copy dvd as opposed to vudu or amazon download.

This movie would be on anybody's top 10 1950's sci-fi viewing list it is smart and performed well.

This classic sci-fi satisfies your desire for cheesy movies but on a no frills level. No extras on this DVD release but the movie is all you wanted anyway right?
