I bought this setup over a year ago for my husband to play GT7. (He is where racing wheels go to die!) He still raves about how good this wheel is. It has been a reliable performer, with no problems. Believe me, that is saying something. I know my husband has been around the Daytona track at least 10,000 times in the last year. (He and his friends like to race at Daytona...a lot.)

While I am not new to the world of sim racing, I have been out of the loop for some years. I decided to get back into it and went with the only rim I could find, this Thrustmaster T248. Is it a good entry-level wheel? It's ok. The shifters aren't the best and braking is just a guessing game. F1 2020 misses a lot of shifts. Assetto Corsa Competizione is pretty solid with this wheel, so I'm assuming it's a software issue with F1. That's not surprising given the quality of CodeMasters' game. If someone were to ask if I'd recommend, I'd say save a bit more and go with a wheel base where rims can be swapped out. The wheel works well for GT style racing, but the layout is just too complex for a F1 wheel. I leave ERS to the game as I can't really look down and figure out which setting I need to be on. Same for brake bias and diff. Going to sell this soon and go for a more entry-level direct drive base with a better wheel. I'd probably recommend someone give a look at the Moza products.

I will say this performs way better when pair it with a racing sim set up. Very precise handling, increased my times on racing games about 2-3 seconds. My only complaint is that the steering wheel is a bit small.

Good for the price and waiting for my new trustmaster t300

I am a loyal Best Buy customer, and until this evening, I had not had any disappointing purchases. I purchased an open-box Thrustmaster T248 Racing Wheel and Magnetic Pedals for PS5. The open-box item was advertised as being in "excellent condition." The website described such an item as one that "works and looks like new" and "includes all original parts, packaging and accessories (or suitable replacement)." When I unpacked the box, the product was the opposite of what was advertised. It was filthy with debris and what appeared to be food stains on the wheel paddles that I needed to clean. The owner's manual and cable to connect the wheel to the computer were missing, and the gas pedal was damaged. Apparently, the quality control of a returned product in so-called "excellent condition" was poor and careless. This is not the first open-box item I purchased. I am sometimes willing to buy a used or refurbished item, as long as it's in a resellable condition and has gone through a thorough quality control process. I've had a good experience with open-box purchases at Best Buy. Unfortunately, with the Thrustmaster T248 Racing Wheel and Magnetic Pedals, someone failed to recognize that this item should never have been resold without first cleaning, repairing, and testing it to ensure it is in good working condition. I don't want to say this is a bad product, as I didn't have an opportunity to test it. This review is feedback about falsely advertising a repackaged item as one in excellent condition. In this case, I recommend buying a new wheel instead of a repackaged open box.
