At last the James Cameron catalog is coming to UHD - "Titanic" never looked this good before - you'll see details you never knew were there!

    4K Masterpiece

Short version: Buy it!! The 4K transfer was worth the wait. Not only for Dolby Vision but especially the Atmos track combined with James Horner’s soundtrack. I have watched it twice already. For reference of this review, I watched once on a Sony 77A80K in our dedicated theater room with 7.4.2 and the other on a 65A80L, with 5.2.1, both having a Panasonic ub820 4K player. Video: Colors are vibrant with more realism and textures have more depth with better contrast compared to the 1080p Blu-ray. Skin tones and lighting are the biggest differences, with the 4K transfer providing more lifelike skin tones, overall colors (especially clothing) and contrast. This is especially noticeable at the start of the dinner scene. The Grand Staircase wood has more warmth and grain texture, plus the lighting from the skylight is bright with more detail in shadow areas. The lighting results in better skin tones and fine details; evident at the dinner table where there is a variety of skin tones, makeup, dresses and tuxes. The lighting also helps to see subtle details such as the White Star Lines logo in the crystalware. The exterior shots also reveal how much detail went into the set. Audio: this is where the upgrade is 1000% worth it. From subtle sounds having more definition, such as Hockley opening and closing his pocket watch before boarding or the immense sounds of the ship breaking apart at the end. This new transfer will give your center channel a well deserved workout. Dialogue is center weighted and forward of the action, resulting in redifned clarity. However, finally, rear/side speakers get the treatment that was missing on the 1080p Blu-ray. The ‘Take her to sea’ scene is more full in sound, as well as a more full/tighter bass. The rear channels make the engine/boiler rooms come to life with more mechanical sounds, as well as making it seem as if the steam is being pumped through the rear channels, then over Atmos, and back to the front stage. The scene where Rose is being lowered in the lifeboat, the Atmos speakers pick up the pulleys and ropes while the rears and front stage share the duty of the davits flexing. The center channel handles the dialogue and rocket burst with finese. This scene also showcases Horner’s soundtrack and when combided with the aforementioned, it really pulls you into the scene as if you are standing on the deck in 1912. Finally, the iceberg collision scene and the climactic ending make this one of the best Atmos tracks as far as placement around the room and immersion.

For those worried Cameron might have botched the transfer, forget about those worries because "Titanic" looks absolutely phenomenal on 4K. I'm a massive fan of the film (it's in my top five of all time), and I felt nothing but satisfied by the time the credits rolled. The level of detail is incredible, the colors look stunning, and the audio very immersive. Quite simply, I don't think the film has ever looked or sounded better on a home release.

I had not seen this movie since I last watched it on VHS, so when I saw that James Cameron was remastering it on 4K I knew I had to jump for it. Wow, this is incredible. The picture is super sharp, the colors are gorgeous. I have a Dolby Atmos setup in my home theater and the audio mixing on this copy of Titanic is second to none. It’s so cool hearing the ship creaking above and behind you while you’re watching the characters navigate the ship as it’s sinking. I’m so glad I picked this up, this is what the 4K UHD format and home theater setups are all about. Incredible immersive experience.

I'm neither an absolute lover of Titanic nor a blind detractor- it's a very good movie with some elements that could have used a touch up from James Cameron. Speaking of touch ups, Cameron and his team's 4K restoration on this disc is almost breathtaking- while still maintaining the very finest grain, so much of the film looks brand new. However, because of the application of DNR, some mid shots appear incredibly waxy and unappealing, primarily during the first act. The Atmos sound is top-notch and Paramount have made sure to include a bounty of special features both old and new.

Been waiting years for James Cameron to release this on 4k blu ray. Completely blown away with picture and sound. Watched on our Sony oled using a Sony x700 blu ray player and fed to our pioneer elite receiver for atmos. Most of the lfe is during the actual sinking the majority of the film is dialogue centric but the film is gorgeous to watch. Absolutely zero complaints!

You don’t need me to tell you about the movie. Ive had this in VHS, DVD, 3D Blu-ray, and now 4k and incan honestly say you’ve never seen it look this good. At least not since the theater back in ‘97. Picture quality is amazing, fine details pop and the HDR grade adds alot. The sounds is also an improvement, especially in scenes where they’re inside the ship and you can hear it groaning as it sinks. Highly recommended.

After all these years, this movie is still great. This is one of a handful movies I have upgraded to every format since VHS. This is the best this movie has ever looked. The PQ and SQ are all top notch. If you're a collector this is a must own

Titanic is an all time classic. Ive been waiting a long time for this movie to be remastered. I have the VHS, DVD, the Blu-Rays Special Collectors Edition and finally the 4K Blu-Ray. If you are a Titanic fanatic, get this set and enjoy it once again in beautiful UHD.

This is one of the nicest 4k transfers I have seen. the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos really make this film seem cinematic. If you're a fan of this movie then the 4k disc is worthy of the upgrade.

One of the best films of all time in all aspects! I have owned this film ever since I was a child with the 2-VHS tape package! Great restoration overseen by James Cameron himself. Absolutely happy that I own this!

James Cameron’s Titanic never looked better! Great 4K from a native 4K transfer and with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. It’s sad, but this is the last Blu-ray I’ll ever purchase at a Best Buy. (╥_╥)
