    Doesn't work on playback, stumped Tivo support

    Great idea in theory, but found a bug which has stumped Tivo support. Downloaded many shows, but nearly 50% of them stop playing at random spots and say "Finished", as if it thinks the video is at the end, but it is not. This happens when fast forwarding to random point in the video, or simply when viewing playback, at random points in the video. Contacted Tivo technical support and I have them stumped. They supposedly sent the case over to their developers, but no response in 3 weeks. Others on the Internet are having same issue. I took original back to Best Buy and swapped it for another brand new one, same issue exists; about half of all downloaded videos stop working during playback. Kinda pointless with this bug. Other issue is that many, many shows I watch are apparently copyrighted and using digital rights management which prevents them from being available to copy to iPad for offline viewing. Again, kind of pointless device for many shows.

    I was excited about the TiVo Stream. I'd be a frequent user of both in-home streaming to iOS devices and offloading to devices for travel. Unfortunately, the Stream only works with a very specific network setup--both your TiVo and your Stream must be plugged directly into your network router. It won't work over wi-fi, won't work with Ethernet over power, won't work with both devices plugged into the same switch. Both your TiVo and your Stream will need to be near each other, and both will need to be near your network router. I help a lot of my friends set up their networks and there aren't many of them with a setup that would meet the Stream's limitations. The Stream is potentially great but they've bungled it by severely limiting the places where it can be used.

    I thought this would be a breeze to get up and running. I have called Tivo support twice. Both times ended in disappointment. They were very courteous ("Please may I put on a brief hold?" "I understand your frustration let's try this"). Each call lasted about 40 minutes. Each time I was unable to get things running. The second call ended with them asking me to try one more thing and if that didn't work I was suppose to call back so they could connect me to a higher level of support. Two 40 minute calls and then I get to a higher level of support? Seems like I should have had that 10 minutes into the first call. I haven't made the third call as yet since I have not be able to remove the unit from the wall to which I threw it after call #2.

    I hooked it up to my network. Next to the TiVo Roamio in my tv cabinet. I have an Ethernet port coming from my office there and all my devices connect to it using a small switch. Tech support said that they do Not support using switches. I tried moving the TiVo stream to my office, where my main router is, but it did not work either. What a shame, it was a good concept. I returned it.

    After setting up the device per the instructions which took 30 minutes for the device to update the software, I could not download to my Ipad and recieved an error when trying to watch a program by streaming to the ipad. i am shocked at that this device was produced by Tivo. i will give tech support a chance to fix it. If they don't do it after one call, it is going back to Best Buy.

    Very disappointed in this product. The streamer must be plugged into your router via a wired connection, and your Tivo must be as well. Even a single stream (it says it supports up to 4) is poor quality and will stop every 2 to 4 seconds until it can catch up. The little thing gets surprisingly hot and has a very noisy fan. Returning mine.

    It took one week to setup a MOCA network which requires for this box. It is working for a while and stops working it is pain in the behind. I had 3 service calls, they could not fix it. This is an expensive junk with the all Tivo system.

    It must be hardwired to the TiVo and the router this negates the wireless part I had to return it to Best Buy which, buy the way, was very happy to return my money

    Very disappointed with this product, does not work on all tv shows. A lot of them are copyrighted, waste of money.
