Great for a PC Monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I consider myself high in the degree of technical ability, the advertising of TV's and just about everything else, is out there to dup you. Well, to my pleasure, this TV makes an excellent computer monitor. Just make sure you use HDMI 2 / Mode 2 under the Menu of the remote. The only small thing I've noticed, which is expected, are some games do not function or display correctly. That's a driver issue in my opinion. If you are someone technically experienced, you can figure out how to fix these, if possible. So.... If you are looking for a PC Gaming monitor, go for it. It's worth the 299 I picked it up for. As far as the sound, I don't use the built in sound. Initially though, before I set up the PC audio output, the speakers sounded much better than the usual 2" speakers in these TV's. I don't have any experience with the Chromecast in it. I've never used the Chromecast stick, but if it is supposed to be the Chromecast stick built into this TV, I'm not impressed. Go with Roku. The only other thing I can add is that there were no dead pixels and it's a basic TV. I was looking for something as close to a monitor as possible. No bells and whistles that would slow down the monitor while using it for PC games.

Value for Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is good for its quality of picture and sound, only thing if you have a smart phone and love to operate then this is best TV. If you rely on Remote of the TV then you don't like much.

Decent PC Monitor/ Gaming TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this mainly as a monitor on Windows and Linux. The picture and color look great. I'm using a GTX 1060 and it does 4k@60hz and I get chroma 4:4:4 with no quality issues. The TV allows me to use 2560x1440 also, because some games are too demanding for 4k @ 60 fps. Make sure you enable hdmi mode 2, otherwise it won't let you past 4k@30hz. I also use this for PS4 and PS3, the picture looks better than my regular 1080p TV, especially when gaming mode is enabled. Has a headphone jack too, which is nice, I don't really need chromecast, but it works well. Only con is it won't remember when I set game mode in hdmi settings for my consoles, I have to manually activate it everytime because it defaults to PC mode.

Great TV but Mediocre Remote & Features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV is very good picture and sound wise. But remote is not that great and features missing. When it comes to the remote there are no number keys, you can go up the channels or down the channels. Now, you can create a virtual remote on your smart phone, but that is something of a hassle. You can not pick out channels as favorites. I ended up doing that by hiding the channels are are between my favorite channels. Again, a hassle. Of course, this is really not a smart tv other than you have Chromecast., but the connection is sometimes iffy. Fortunately the price was cheap for Black Friday and thank the gods I have my Roku. There is one feature that I miss. In the past I have bought Samsungs, for my bedroom primarily because it has timer options for both turning the TV on as well as off. So, I have used my bedroom TV as an alarm clock. Since there are three timers you can choose three different times, but also choosing which days for turning the device on or off. For the Toshiba, you only have a sleep timer. So, if the only thing you want is a basic 4K TV, and it is on sale, go for it. Otherwise, make certain that you pick a TV that has the features you truly desire.

Nice TV for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can see how some people had setup issues with this TV. I'm an experienced Chromecast user. It is easy and a great casting solution. Some people don't like that your are tied to a mobile device to cast, but I'm a fan. You do need to download the Chromecast app to your android/iOS device do the Chromecast setup. It is pretty intuitive and not that difficult. You can skip the setup as well by just clicking on to another input. My fios picture was blurry at first and was only recognizing FiOS at 480i. I went into my FiOS box settings and noticed it was set correctly to 1080p ;however, I decided to switch it to 1080i. Once I did that the TV detected the right display mode and the picture was perfect. I switched the FiOS setting back to 1080p and all was still well. Maybe that is what other reviewers experienced... Other than that the sound is fine and the picture is great. I recommend this TV...

Great picure quality, but all else is poor quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 8 yr. old Vizio 37" LCD was starting to die, so for the price I thought I'd try this Toshiba. The 4k picture quality is great, so good that I started to research 4k TVs more. I soon found this TV lacks an important "future proof" component - HDR, High Dynamic Range. It makes for a more colorful & rich viewing experience. 4k Blu-ray players use it, and the better 4k streaming uses it. This TV will never have it. Most 4k TVs w/HDR cost at least twice as much as this TV, but if you research carefully you can find them in this price range. I found one, so this is going back. And the build quality seems very cheap & poor quality. The remote control is especially atrocious - no number pad for direct access to channels, just a up & down button making you scroll through every single channel. You can do much better than this 4k TV.

Not usable for large computer monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought to use as a large computer monitor for work. I wanted to review architectural drawings. There were to many artifacts, especially around letters and numbers. I tried setting to direct mode, no better. The TV was fine and a good price for 4K but didn't work out for a computer monitor.

Great 4K TV for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV week of 9/16. I was not planning to get a 4K tv but when i saw this TV for the price (i got it for $299, was priced at $369) I quickly decided to get it. The picture is pretty good, and the sound quality is good as well (surprised that it had a good sound, has two speakers surround speakers). The google cast works perfect with my phone or Laptop. The TV is pretty fast in adapting to the devices and I am pretty happy with the purchase. i bought the geek squad protection as well just in case if something goes wrong (wasn't sure how Toshiba TVs fare).

BETTER than you expect.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, so the why for my purchase, I broke my last Insignia 40" TV which i purchased the protection for it and well that doesnt cover accidents so I waited until Black Friday to replace the living room unit. The Sound is a big surprise from most flat screens. Toshiba and Onkyo placed two downward firing speakers on the left and right side that do a good job at giving great detail in sound. You can adjust the bass and treble in the settings however don't expect subwoofer pumping bass. What i would say is the sound will get you buy if you wanted to save for a nice sound bar to add say maybe 3-4 months down the line. The Picture quality is something EVERYONE in my house notices. the fur babies never werre interested in our other tv's but this is our first 4K unit and even when we shut it off they sit waiting for it to come back on. I thought it was just "videos for cats" but even regular TV shows they now sit and watch with the family which is kinda cute and kinda weird but still not judging kiinda way. The image is what you would expect from 4K or UHD without the soap opera effect (SOE) being that its only 60hz refresh which doesn't blur at all from what i can tell with actions movies like Dead Pool, holiday burning log videos or sports. I wish it was more "Smart TV" having its own apps and not having to dowload all of the apps i have on the Apple TV just to save money on what i thought was a smart tv to begin with. That's my fault, I saw the Netflix font and assumed it was "smart" with its own apps like say the LG or Sony i was eyeing earlier in the week. All in all the TV as a whole is a great buy. Mine was open box so it was even less than the sale price. As far as size, 43" isnt too small for a NYC decent sized apartment living room. In fact 4K is made to look great up close so if you are a fellow city dweller i say go for it.

Okay tv for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the television last year a week before black friday. Still, the television works pretty good. The only problem I'm having with it is the built-in chromecast feature. For some reason my chromecast isn't broadcasting its signal so my phone or computer can't even detect that the tv is there. I have to wait a week for a technician to install a new main board to see if that will fix this issue. Other than that the tv works just fine. Gaming channel and cable channels work perfectly and the sound and picture quality aren't bad either.

Good for the sale price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on Black Friday for the sale price of $279 and $30 for the 2yr protection plan. Super easy to setup and connect to the google cast. Only complaint is that the built in google cast is NOT compatible with WatchESPN but the plugin chromecast is. And the tv remote doesn't have any numbers.

TV turns itself on and off in middle of night.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV a little less than two weeks ago and I really like it, except for one thing. Twice now, the TV has turned itself on then off in the middle of the night. The first time it happened, it scared the bejeezus out of me. I checked and both the sleep and game timers are off, so I have no idea what is causing it. I don't plan on returning it, but just wanted to share this feedback in case someone else experiences the same thing. And if anyone knows how to correct this, please share!

Great picture, great price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me preface this review by saying I got this TV as an open box with a tremendous discount. As a bedroom/spare room tv, this is a great unit. Sets up quickly, needs some menu tuning, but in 10 minutes, it easily matches up with other tvs in its regular price range. Biggest negative, however, is the "smart tv" part. This tv has no apps. It requires you to have a tablet or phone activate and navigate the app, then stream from the tv. Very clunky and mostly useless. I'd highly recommend getting a Roku or bluray with apps if you plan on streaming.
