Difficult to get up and running.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was my second purchase of this particular model because it is installed in a high traffic area where screens are easily and often damaged, and also probably my 10th Amazon Fire TV overall. I have no issue with the picture quality or audio for the price of it, neither of which are stellar, but this particular unit was very difficult to get up and running. It continually froze and needed to be restarted in order for the firmware to completely update in a process that conservatively took 10 hours. The only reason I persisted instead of returning it was the difficulty of physically getting the unit back to the store; I live in the city, it would be pouring rain for days ahead, and ultimately down to a choice between hand carrying or pulling something of this size on a cart. I chose a dry, indoor form of suffering instead. Thereafter, it was refusing to download apps on demand and putting them in an invisible queue where they gradually became available after a period ranging from several hours to even two days later. The previous unit had no such problems, so I don't know if the issue was with Amazon or the actual hardware, but it does seem to be working normally now. This was far from my favorite product set-up experience, through no fault of Best Buy. Next time I will bite the bullet, buy a better product, and install a protective cover. It won't be long, I'm sure.

It must have been frustrating to experience issues with the firmware update and downloading apps, especially after having a positive experience with previous units. It sounds like you had to go through a lot of inconvenience just to try to get the product up and running, which is definitely not something we want our customers to go through.
