It's a great value, but not a real Toshiba

I purchased this TV when I moved into a new home with a much larger master bedroom, but didn't want to spend $400 for a 4K Samsung. The set does have good sound quality as advertised, I really didn't care about 4K, and I already had a wireless-internet enabled Blue Ray player. I went with Toshiba after much thought, as my first flat-screen TV ever in 2007 was a 50" plasma was made by them. It lasted 8 years, well beyond the 5 year typical lifespan I expected. Evidently the brand name is now licensed to Best Buy, so this is really an Insignia product (even the boxes look almost identical, in retrospect). I do like the remote, as it has plenty of nicely arranged buttons; I feel the Smart TV Roku models out there such as TCL (Chinese company) and Sharp (now made by Hisense) have the bare-bones Roku remote, so too many functions require scrolling through a menu. The legs you attach are robust and not flimsy looking like the TCL's and even some Samsungs. I think this TV is close to being discontinued, I bought it in July 2018, at $249 I think it's a great value, but that being said you can get a 4K model now for only about $70 more. However, the sound is above average, and as a result you may not need to buy a soundbar, so that is an important consideration as well.

Very Nice TV - Picture Required Some Adjustment

This is a really nice basic TV. No smart features, no 4K, nothing fancy. 3 HDMI inputs, plus an antenna and a component (or composite--I can't remember) input. The picture on the TV is very crisp, and the lighting is even. Sound is very good. I did need to adjust the picture, as it looked a little bit washed out to me. I adjusted the brightness, contrast, backlight, and color settings, and now the picture looks as it should. All of the default settings were either too dark or too washed out. The stand is also very steady, and only took a few minutes to install on the TV. The remote is basic and very intuitive. Overall, this was a great choice for a budget TV for me. I would recommend it highly.

I wanted an affordable and reliable 1080p flat screen TV that had good quality sound and picture. The Toshiba 49" LED 1080p HDTV is exactly what I was looking for. Even better, it was on sale, and I was able to buy a Geek Squad certified open box model where I saved even more. Compared to my old 60" rear projection style HDTV, the Toshiba TV is great. The picture quality and color are wonderful, and I can see them clearly even in the sunlight. The sound is good; however, I purchased an LG SH3K soundbar with subwoofer to fill my great room with volume and plenty of bass. I like the variety of input and output connections on the back of the TV. I have my laptop and Dish Network receiver connected via HDMI and my DVD/VCR connected by RCA cables. I am very happy with this purchase.

This Toshiba television has a sufficient amount of HDMI ports. This tv is great for gamers and anyone who has multiple HDMI connections. The four ports are great for multiple devices. The picture has great contrast and the view is very easy on the eyes. The setup was very quick and friendly and everything was self explanatory via the included instructions.

I did not want a smart TV and the Toshiba is perfect. The sound is good and the picture is good and it is easy to operate. The picture is bright and clear and I think this TV is a bargain. When I'm ready to go 'smart,' I will just get a Roku stick or firestick, etc. I am not looking to replace this TV for a long time. I'm very happy with it.

Replaced a 9 yr old 42" Viera. Very pleased with this Non-smart TV. I did find the factory home picture settings gave a 'too blue' picture for OTA viewing. I adjusted them to: Backlight-60,Contrast-100,Brightness-minus 15,Color-30,Tint-30, and sharpness 13. These changes made a better picture than my old TV. Sound quality greatly improved by using. external logitech Z13 speakers. The remote is full-featured, and has an unusual 'freeze' function which can be used to more easily read movie credits.

Love this TV. Got it on sale black Friday for $279. It has a great picture & good sound. I'm not using any additional speakers & the sound volume/quality is fine. Glad I happened upon it scrolling through TV's on the Best Buy site. I have always bought Samsung & I'm just as pleased.

Nothing special or smart about it but at 199 for a 49" hd tv for the kids room it's perfect. Easy set up and picture is good. With the Xbox hooked up it's as smart as it needs to be. After reading some of the other reviews I also bought the 2 year warranty for cheap money also.

Bought this TV as a replacement to my old one. Looks great and sounds great. The software issue I had was when I set the viewing size for Component from 4:3 to Full-screen, the setting resets every time I turn off the TV.

We went with the Toshiba as we love our current one & wanted to add an extra tv to the household. Great picture, great sound. (We use Firebox & digital antenna) After 3 weeks, we got the green screen. We switched out the input cables & still green. Called the Geek Squad, they came out, switched the cables, still green, so they ordered a new control board. Geek Squad came back, installed the control board & the tv is perfect once again. Glad we purchased the 2 year plan so we will be covered if this happens again in the future. The frustration of a brand new tv going green screen after 3 weeks is why I gave the tv a 4 instead of 5 stars.

To start off this tv does not have all the bells and whistles. It’s your basic 1080p television with a good picture and excellent price point. This was a gift for my parents and they love it.

We needed a specific size TV to fit an alcove, and this TV delivered good quality. Had to tilt the screen down a bit so that the colors displayed properly. The colors didn't look right in darker images, so I looked online for how to change the display settings, and now we have several choices to flip through easily on the remote between movie, game, natural, etc. Not a very sharp image, but it's good.

Bought this Toshiba TV for our 95 year old Grandmother who is suffering from Macular Degeneration. Her vision is failing, but she wants to keep up with the news. A sharp picture allows her to make out the scrolling at the bottom of the screen. Also the icons on the remote are large enough for her to make out. Good product that suits her needs. In store pickup was seamless. In and out in ten minutes. PEW
