I got this tv to replace a 1999 Sony wega, that's right a 1999. I had paid 1200.00 for that tv and the stand that matched it. Wow have times really changed. I got this tv on sale for 249.00 and so far it is really good for the price. Very easy set up. I was watching this tv within about 40 mins after taking it out of the box.

    Excellent first impressions

I bought this Toshiba TV to replace a JVC TV that was no longer processing an HDMI signal from my laptop correctly. Neither of these are smart TVs, which is probably one of the reasons for the low price. But nowadays, streaming apps like Netflix or Amazon or Hulu are either built in to Blu Ray players, or can be run from a computer connected to the TV, so having to pony up the extra money for built in apps is no longer a requirement. So that's the first thumbs up about the Toshiba TV. The others are that the picture is great, the sound volume is adequate and has a few available adjustments built in, and even the packaging makes it possible for one person to remove it from the box and get it set up. Also, this TV has 3 HDMI inputs, which seems to be a rarity for new TVs now, but all were needed for a cable set top box, Blu Ray player, and laptop connection. So out of the box, I can say nothing bad about this TV. It is doing everything I wanted it to do, and at a very reasonable price.

    Impressively Simple

Read the reviews and they were not wrong. We use a Roku and so didn't need the added features of a smart TV. This thing has a really great HD picture with several different viewing options for colors and background intensity, but I was more impressed with sound. I have not heard such good sound quality from a TV in a long time. Just watching some music videos on youtube I was super impressed with the sound quality. I went from a Smart Samsung TV and the sound on this Toshiba much cleaner, crisper, and deeper than any other TV. Remote is simple and easy to use. Buy this TV you will not be disappointed!

Really nice 1080 HD LED TV

I was interested in a basic LED HD TV. I didn't need SMART or 4K, not much useful 4K content out there anyway. Toshiba was not on my radar but I was a value shopper. I saw this reasonable price for a 50'LED and got it. I was very pleased with the features and picture quality. The setup process was straightforward. My DVD player BR movies were very good on this screen. Brightness and contrast are great. I compared the picture to my SMART Sony 4K upstairs and found that I liked this picture very well. I am not fussy about the 60 Hz refresh rate, Basic TV is still cool. I use Netflix to stream also.

    Great value for the money

Set up my 50" LCD for under $300 shipped. Used primarily in master bedroom. Colors are very good with decent black levels. It is what it is a good basic set for the money. The picture looks good at around 10ft. The picture is actually better than I imagined for the price. It rivals my much more expensive Sony but not quite as good. Sound is also very good. 3 hdmi ports is adequate especially for my use. This of course is not a "smart tv" but one could easily add a device like Roku. If it lasts I'll be happy and consider this a very smart buy. I'm giving this product 5 stars considering what it costs.

Video Settings Tough to get Right..!

For a basic "dumb" TV (which I believe is best way to go), this is a remarkable TV at a remarkable price, and dedicated numbered HDMI inputs for a universal remote..! I did have a tough time getting the video settings to looking NATURAL, and not over saturated/over contrast. The biggest problem was a greenish tint which was hard to get rid of in black skin tones. Anyone else had issues with this..? I'd be happy to share my video settings if any interest is out there..!

I wanted a simple 1080p for bedroom, replaced a 11 yr old 37 inch Toshiba that was slowly dying. Hung it on the wall, remote on my X-1 xfinity didn't have to be reprogramed, set up was simple, made a few adjustments to pic and sound, X-1 platform up scales to 1080p. Picture was surprising good. Sound with a little extra bass is plenty loud for bedroom. Using volume 16 out of 100. At $279 this non smart tv is perfect for my needs. Happily surprised.

    seems ok, no closed caption

if you need closed caption--look for a different tv. purchased few days ago; easy connection to cable box. seems ok--color pretty intense on the factory setting; it displays lots info when changing channels--a few seconds delay to clear-; sound is ok but probably due to the station, cable co. or whatever, it varies and does need to be constantly adjusted. these are minor things but are initially aggravating--no doubt will adjust and accept as tv is used. For 350ºº is ok basic tv, having ROKU we figure this is all we need. It's replacing a 750ºº samsung smart tv with color fading issues and that was not worth the money--another story.

    Ten year old Toshiba TV

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just purchased a new Toshiba LED TV mainly because I have a ten year old 48" toshiba flat screen tv (one of the first flat screens to come out that I paid I think $1500 for) that was purchased in 2006. I haven't had not one bit of trouble with it so I'm gonna give it to my mom, who still has analog tv's. I'm hoping that I have the same good luck with the new one that I've had with my old one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I was looking for a 120hz and found one in a 48 inch which wound up being entirely sold out. Decides to go with this model. The 60hz and picture are adequate for the standard programming. High Motion like sports might struggle on this tv. Speakers are decent, too, but I did add a minimal sound bar. All my peripherals connected with no problem: Antenna, roku, soundbar. Definitely good deal for the money.

Solid TV for the price. Can't go wrong with a 50 inch tv under $300. Plus it's better then the Insiginia or Westinghouse models.

Out the box it was blurry but once the tv warmed up a little, the picture quality started to get better and stay that way. This tv is definitely a good tv with really good picture quality. Planning on buying another here soon for another room. I have all high speed HDMI cables incase someone is asking.

Excellent picture, audio is a little aggravating

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The size and quality of the picture on this TV are excellent. However, I find myself having to adjust the audio settings based on what medium I'm using (Netflix, Hulu, Blu-Ray player, etc). Not sure what's going on there. Also, sometimes the TV will just turn itself off. I'm pretty sure it's a preconfigured thing I haven't taken the time to unconfigure yet though.

We wanted to replace our 32" first gen Vizio lcd with a larger television in a bedroom. What was important to us were price, weight and speakers. No regrets. It looks good, light enough for me to carry it myself, and the speakers are surprisingly good. The unit is about 20 feet away and we can hear dialogue clearly without it being a quarter of the max volume. We just put a Roku stick in it for apps. This is a great purchase.

Originally, I purchased the Westinghouse 50 inch TV that was on sale for cyber Monday. I got home and the picture and the sound was horrible. After a bit of shopping I settled on this TV that was only $50 more. The TV feels well made and the picture quality and sound are excellent. Beautiful sharp picture and booming sound. I didn't want a smart tv as I have a laptop connected to it for entertainment that I use a wireless keyboard with a mousepad.

just unpacked the set and hooked it up. VERY user friendly and quick and easy to set up. I looked at a lot of reviews of other brands before purchasing this set, pretty well all the others in this price range had a lot of one and two star reviews for set was bad right out of the box to went bad within six months. I didnt want or need a set with tons of features that I would never use, just wanted a good set at a good price. It has as good of a picture as higher priced sets, I dont play any video games just watch cable channels so the refresh rate of 60 I believe is more then adequate for me.

Bought this set 3 weeks ago and it has performed beautifully. It isn't a Smart TV, but I have PS3 attached to it and that gives me all the additional programming I want. Great picture, and sound. Price was awesome on sale, and I am very pleased.
