For $299.99 price, it's a great fit to new game system. http://tvna.compal-toshiba.com/us/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/06/Toshiba_50L711U18_17-0046_MKTG_v1_final.pdf

Great tv, I've had it for 5 days now and got it for a good deal. The picture is great if you can actually find hdr content, and any footage higher than 1080p. Can't wait to watch hdr content!

Good while it last. It now turns off screen and all you hear is audio. I think the inverter might have gone bad.

Poor Picture Quality on an Otherwise Functional TV

    Posted .

I took a chance on this TV as they were just sitting out on the floor, not in a box. For $400 bucks, I didn't expect amazing quality, but did expect something similar to a Dynex 1080p TV I purchased in 2011. Unfortunately, the picture quality here is worse than my old TV. The TV suffers from poor contrast and brightness. When viewing images where there is a dark grey next do a black, it's nearly impossible to distinguish the difference between the two. When viewing sports where one team is wearing a white jersey, it's impossible to see wrinkles in the clothing, it all just looks "white". Additionally, I believe this TV has very poor 4K up-scaling. When watching ESPN 2 yesterday there were many times where I questioned if I was watching 1080p up-scaled or standard definition up-scaled. Overall, take note of other "5 star" reviews -- Notice that the primary use of the TV for these other reviewers is for dorm rooms, little kids, etc. If that's your use for the TV, that's fine, but if you appreciate image quality and want something decent for your living room then stay away!

I got this TV a few days ago. It was on sale and the salesman said it was the best one for the value. Well the picture is average. The chromecast is not good. Always kicking me out and i have to manually put it in Ultra HD on all the apps. It doesnt do it automatically. Biggest issue is the sound keeps going out. I dont know if its the internet connection or my speakers but it keeps going out. Toshiba was no help at all trying to figure the problem out. So i am doing it myself. Overall if its a spare tv get it. If its a main tv do not.

Picture quality was terrible for a 4k but the sound quality is amazing. Don't really like the fact of having to use your phone for the smart part of the tv as well because my kids don't have Google chrome features I recommend the tv having it's own smart software.

Backlight died after 5 years of use and became unusable. There is a significant blue shift in a large area of the center of the screen. Overall, it was generally a decent TV.

I really wanted to love this tv. I did get a smoking deal on it but, I am not impressed with the picture quality at all. No matter what I do I cannot get a clear picture on this thing. I am going to keep it because of the deal that I got on it but I am not impressed with the so called 4k picture.

Its only been two weeks since purchasing this specific tv and already ive run into the dreaded “black screen of death” it had wonderful quality both color wise and pixel wise but after being on for more than 30 minutes the tv sporadically shuts off and will not turn back on for several minutes to several hours. Ive always bought my electronics through bestbuy and honestly I am quite disappointed... I have checked if it was the power supply and the intake of power but the problem is the tv...

The remote randomly stopped working one day so now it's impossible to control the TV, because they were too lazy to put actual buttons on it. I called their support, they told me I was using the wrong remote even though it's the remote that came with the TV.

    DO NOT BUY THIS ...

I bought this tv on Cyber Monday and paid $299.99 for it. It is my first 4k and the first flat screen tv I've purchased for my bedroom. My plan was to put it under the Christmas tree, but my husband and I were so excited about it, last Sunday we decided to open it up and start watching! Boy... what a let-down, Set up was very easy, it looks beautiful, and the audio is fantastic, but the picture quality is beyond terrible. For the past four days we have tried to no avail to change the settings in an attempt to get a better picture. No matter what we do the picture has a cloudy look to it-- whether lights are on or off. I can't stand to watch it anymore as it gives me a headache. The colors look blurry and it literally hurts my eyes. I bought my son a cheap Westinghouse (43 inch... I think) about a year and a half ago. The picture quality on the Westinghouse far exceeds the Toshiba. I am not a "tech" type of person, but I know what a good picture quality looks like, and this certainly isn't it. I will definitely return the Toshiba. I am very disappointed and so angry that this didn't work out. Now I have to go through the hassle of boxing the tv back up, transporting it to the store ,and trying to find another tv. Bummer... never again will I even look at another Toshiba.

Bad design all the way around

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Audio output is too low to connect to a stereo. Defective by design. Chromecast is horrible because you can't use the remote control. You're dependent on a phone, tablet or computer for everything. You can't even pause it. Over the air tuning is also defective by design. You can't easily see the name of the program that is currently on. You need to change the channel before you can press another button to go into the info screen. My network subnet changed. Several weeks later I noticed that Chromecast wouldn't work. After 30 minutes of troubleshooting I figured out the problem and that I had to unplug the tv to reset it.

    NOT a Smart Tv

Although this tv is not average, promoting it as a smart tv is disingenuous. Tell ME the truth and let me choose if I want to pay more. Don't waste my time having me assume your marketing is accurate.

    Avoid Toshiba TVs

    Posted .

I would not recommend a Toshiba TV to my worst enemy. 1. Their customer support is horrible 2. They stop making parts way before the 5 yr requirement. 3. Products have lots of problems. 4. Their service is so bad their site has dead tel numbers and emails posted. 5. I once called customer service and could hear dogs barking. 6. My emails and tweets never get answers. 7. My tv needed a small part within 3 yrs of purchase and no repair place could find it and Toshiba told me I was out of luck.
