    Can't beat the price

Purchased this online for Black Friday 2015... $349 is hard to beat for a 55" TV. Picture quality is great, I am sure you can do better, but my requirements were simple, a large screen to watch sports and movies. I cannot speak to the speakers, I have this setup as a monitor sitting behind my Onkyo home theater box, so I get 7.1 sound from the receiver. Setup is very simple, the legs attach with one screw on each leg, and light enough for a single person to lift. Connections are easy to reach. I did a few adjustments to the picture settings to adjust to my taste, OOTB settings are a bit bland but easy enough to customize. This is nothing fancy, if you get your smart TV from TiVo, AppleTV, Roku, etc, this "dumb" TV is all you need to enjoy all your content.

    Excellent Value!

I purchased this TV on the Thursday (pre-Black Friday) sale. I wanted the 49" for 149$, but the tickets ended two people in front of me at 3:05, so I re-read the flyer and browsed through these reviews and decided this was the one for me! At 349$, you can't really pass it up! This purchase replaces an older #8yrs+# 43" LG Plasma, I am so pleased with the picture quality, no comment on sound as I use home theatre system separate from the internal speakers. I would recommend this TV as a great value for your money!

Impulse buy with no regrets so far!

Bought this when I was getting a PS4 as the associate helping me with that purchase mentioned the $350 price and it was too good to pass up! I wanted an LG 55", but was willing to take a chance as I've had many Toshiba laptops and always was pleased with them. There was no display model in store, so I went in totally blind... This TV replaced my 8 year old Samsung 40" and I have to say, I'm so far very pleased with the TV! The first thing I did was play Fallout 4 on the new TV and despite the graphics of the game seeming a bit "last gen" in some ways, the experience was amazing, picture wise! Watching Netflix is also perfect and the images are always crisp and bright. I use a surround sound system, so I can't speak to the audio quality of the TV's speakers. I have so far not experienced the hum other reviewers have mentioned, and I pretty much left all the settings as-is during setup. I have until January 15 to return the TV, but that seems unlikely barring some major issue. Overall, extremely happy with this purchase!

Great basic TV for the value

We upgraded from an HDTV rear projection big box that we originally paid over a $1000 for. After seeing the display 55L310U TV in the store I was not expecting a lot from the TV. We bought it online with store pick up. The store had it all ready for us when we arrived and took it out to our vehicle. We did have some issues getting out of security because apparently they have stopped the practice of giving pick up receipts which causes walking out not quite as smooth. TV was extremely light and easy to carry with another person, because of the size. Setup was extremely easy if using just the legs. You do have to have a Philips screwdriver. We have Dish and all we had to hook up was an HDMI cable. In all took about 15 minutes out of the box to watching shows. Color is great, much better than in the store. Must have to do with how they stream video. Surpassed our expectations. Since we don't game the 60 mhz refresh is just fine for what we watch. Sports looks amazing as well as nature programs. Upgrading from a projector TV to the 55L310U is a huge improvement and we are happy so far. Bright display. With Best Buy rewards we paid less than $349, but even at $349 was a very attractive price. Only con to us would probably be the audio as it does have the booming stereo compared to our old, but really wasn't expecting it at this price.

I have had it now for 4 days and to this point I have no reason to be anything but happy about my purchase. Picture quality is great, sound is better then any of the other large flat screens we have in our home. Easy setup. I searched for over 2 weeks before making this purchase and feel I made the best choice of the sets I researched...

I purchased this TV a day before writing this review. I purchased to replace a 32" Sony that my parents had at their house. The TV looks great and its a 55" LED TV for less than $350. When i saw that i purchased online to pickup in store. This deal is unheard of until now. Its not a smart TV nor fancy but you cant get a non good branded TV for this price anywhere.

The color on the TV never came out right. We noticed a green dot on the screen. We were not able to get it fixed and had to pay more money to replace the TV.

Well I jumped early on the pre black friday sale, picked up this tv. It's not 4k, but the picture still looks solid to me. I was worried about sound output but I haven't had any particular complaints about it yet. The 40" this TV replaced looks so small in comparison. The overall look and quality is very nice. The bezel is thin and adds a simple look to it. My only true complaint is the odd ball VESA mount. 200 x 300. Most TVs I mount are 300 x 300 or 400 x 400, had to fabricate my mount a bit to fit the 200x300. Overall, solid large no frills LCD TV for $350. I recommend.

Picked up the TV for 349.99 on December 26 . I have a dark room and wall mounted the TV without issue. The picture on 1080p videos for newer movies and video clips looks great. Older TV shows on Netflix and such may look a little grainy. This is only because the shows were not shot in HD when originally made. 60Hz vs 120Hz never bothered me much. I much prefer the 60Hz of the Toshiba as it doesn't offer the "motion enhancement" setting that many 120Hz TVs offer. This means my movies look like movies and don't suffer from the "soap opera" effect many 120Hz TVs are saddled with. Black levels, colours and fast moving action flicks and sports look great on this TV comparable to move expensive TVs from Samsung or LG. You need to ensure that your TV is calibrated to your viewing preferences - this may involve fine tuning the colour settings in the Advanced Settings sub menu under Picture Settings. I was completely fine using the Standard picture setting straight out of the box with just a few adjustments like reducing the sharpness and turning off the Edge Enhancer. Dynamic can make things too saturated and cartoonish, while I found the Movie setting kind of washed out the picture. Standard worked best for me. The sound quality on this TV is good. Many on this board have complained that the TV lets out a buzz. Yes this buzz happened for me too. I discovered it had little to do with the TV and more to do with the electrical interference in the room. Once I called an electrician to fix the wires my TV stopped buzzing. The lights in the room were prone to buzzing as well. For those who are afflicted by this - please have your electrical cables checked by a licensed contractor before returning the TV. The sound quality is fine but I would still recommend investing in a decent quality sound bar - preferably with a subwoofer. While it isn't a smart TV with build in apps, you are better off buying a TV for its picture quality than one that comes with built-in software that becomes obsolete and is unsupported in a couple of years. I paired mine with a $30 Chromecast and a high definition cable box from my cable company and found that I have very little need for smart TV features. Over all great TV. At $349.99 it was a great deal. I would highly recommend buying this product even at the currently listed $449.99

    A "hum"-dinger of a TV

    Posted .

Like most of the other reviews, I purchased this as part of the pre-Black Friday promotion. I also had a mover's coupon, which worked, bringing the price of the TV down even further. Unfortunately, mine suffered from the humming noise. Since I purchased the extended warranty, though, I was able to arrange for Best Buy to deliver a replacement and haul the defective one away. Otherwise I would have had to return it to the store myself. For that alone the extended warranty was worth it, and it's not that much more money, even for the 5-year plan. The replacement TV works perfectly. For the price, the picture is very good, and the sound is much higher quality than I would have expected. The speakers are loud enough to cover my home's open concept living/dining/kitchen area. While I have to knock a star off for the humming sound, especially as this seems to be a common problem, Best Buy/Geek Squad customer service gets full marks for handling the return and re-delivery quickly and without hassle.

Great price for a 55inch, basic TV

I was looking for a 55-60 inch TV on sale around Black Friday, and saw this for $350. It's an incredibly good deal. I don't need a SMART TV as I have other streaming devices. Picture is great. Sound could use an upgrade, I use a soundbar and prefer it over flat panels (you can't get great sound out of a TV that is less than 2 inches deep.) Main reason this is 4 stars, is that I had the terrible buzzing/humming problem that others have stated. Maybe this only affected a select few, but thankfully the holidays returns have an extended return time. I returned it an the new set works great, no humming at all. If you had this problem, I would recommended returning before it's too late, even though repacking it is a pain.

I was looking to upgrade my recreation room TV. I searched all over for the best deal. We found the best deal at Best Buy. If you are looking for a good TV with a great picture, then this is it. I don't care for all the bells and whistles that I don't use anyway such as Smart TV, ROKU and that stuff. We just wanted a good HD TV that has a great picture. I can't see finding a better buy. We got it on sale for 399.00. This is our first day using this tv, but I really like this TV. We have a smaller VIZIO 48" with SMART features and ROKU that we paid twice as much for and I like this one much better. The picture is better as well. We don't use all the other features that is just more technology that will malfunction.

Great TV. Great Price. NOT a SMART TV

VERY pleased with my purchase. Got it at a GREAT price. My review is that if you want a tv that is GREAT in viewing and not a smart tv, this is a great choice. Very few gave negative reviews but I have none. You just need to make sure you have good HDMI cables to get the best in the viewing and that you program the CABLE BOX accordingly. Uverse has resolution adjustments to change from Standard and Widescreen and 720 to 1080. If you do not change it when connected, it will not work well. Maybe that is the issue with some people that purchased it. Sound is great but you need to adjust bass if not it doesn't sound great. All I am saying this TV for the special price I got it online on 11/11/2015 was great as long as you have the interest in getting to know the functions and changing it to what you want. This tv is capable. I have the Chromecast for Netflix, YouTube, etc. so I am not missing out on anything I need. I figured. Save $300 compared to a smart tv. Purchase this regular tv and have a chromecast ($35), how can I go wrong.

Good price, good picture, and good size for my upgrade from 42" TV. Both my friend and I picked up yesterday. We both are satisfied with its quality for the $350.00 price tag. We don't need smart TV because we have other device that can do all features of smart TV. If anyone doesn't require smart TV features, this one would be the good selection for its price and its quality.

Bought this yesterday, we had a 40" Dynex (which I LOVE) in our living room but being in a new home we needed a larger tv to accommodate larger room. My partner saw the pre black Friday sale so I looked into it. Salesmen were great in explaining the spec and it met my requirements. 3 HDMI was the minimum I needed and the plug for sound bar. Set up was easy and the picture looks great. Has a solid sound and if you want a much larger sound then a sound bar will do the trick. I have had Toshibas in the past and all were great Looking forward to watching many sports activities and movies on this nice looking TV. Only gave it 4 stars just because compared to other 55" tv by the powerhouses (Samsung, Sony, vizio etc.) I'm sure this would come out in the low end. Great TV at this price, we are happy! If anything changes then new review will be added.

Purchased TV in early November when on sale for $350 (great deal). Picture quality overall better than Westinghouse 120 Hz 46 in. purchased a couple years ago. (no washed out colors).Turning off the auto brightness help any small issues I had. Wish it had a VGA connection but other than that no other complaints. Not using it's sound so can't comment on that part.

Bought this to replace an older Samsung flat screen when it was onsale before the Super Bowl. Really great TV for a lower price. We weren't interested in paying more for a "Smart TV" since we already had a streaming player (a $35 Chromecast can do more than what some of these Smart TVs can do at a much higer cost). Sure, you could get something with 4K or whatever the latest TV fad is, but right now it really isn't worth the extra money for my needs. This TV has a huge screen and is perfect for streaming and watching broadcast tv.

Got this on the Black Friday deal, and as a secondary screen for the basement, it works great. Quick look at a few different video sources (BlueRay of Captain America, NHL game streamed through a Roku) and the picture is more than acceptable at this price point (I'm comparing it to a 65" Samsung panel I spent 10x on). That said, my unit has a HORRIBLE buzz if the brightness is set to anything but 100%. I can live with it, but if you plan on tweaking this unit to published picture settings, beware.
