Customers appreciate the 55" Class LED HDTV for its excellent picture quality and affordable price. Many reviewers mentioned that they got good quality for the price they paid. Setting up the TV is also a breeze, according to several users. However, some customers were disappointed that it is not a smart TV and lacks a high refresh rate. Decent image quality, slow response rate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV as an open-box item and it was defective. The television made a buzzing/humming sound when the back light was set to anything below 100%. This a known issue with this television. I promptly took it back to the store the next day and they replaced it with a new one for the same price. The second set works great but image quality is not that great. Backlight quality: The backlight levels are acceptable, just don't expect deep blacks. The blacks can be improved by tweaking the image setting a little. Image uniformity: Overall the image is uniform with just a very slightly noticeable vignetting near the edges probably caused by the diffusers. This is an edge-light TV and so therefore it is not going to be as evenly lit as a full array television. Contrast ratio: Contrast is very good on this TV even though the blacks are not deep, whites are vivid and color accuracy is very good as well. I keep the TV set on "movie mode" most of the time which lowers the contrast and gives it a movie screen feel, the way a movie looks in a theater. Performance: This TV turns on relatively quickly. After a brief "DTS TrueConnect" logo appears, the TV is ready to go. The TV takes about 8-9 seconds to turn on. Response rate: This TV has a moderate amount ghosting. I knew this was only a 60Hz TV when I purchased it but even still, the response rate (From white to black) could be better, which has little to do with the refresh rate. Features: The optical output works perfectly. I have the TV connected to my surround sound receiver and the TV is able to pass Dolby Digital from both the Antenna/Cable and through the HDMI input which is rare. Some TVs only pass surround sound through the optical output when watching cable. This makes using a streaming DVD player so much easier. Instead of having to switch audio inputs on the receiver, you can leave it on one optical audio setting, and when switching from watching cable to a blue-ray disk, the TV will output the surround sound through the optical output. Setup: This TV comes with no full page instruction manual but the TV is pretty intuitive to setup if you are technically savvy enough. The menu tells you to refer to the downloadable instruction manual from Toshiba's website, but this probably keeps the cost of the unit down by not including the manual. Final thoughts: This is a good TV if you don't need a smart TV. You can expect it to have a slightly higher quality than the lower end name brands. I would have given it 4 stars if the first unit was not defective and maybe 5 stars if the response rate was better.

This is an excellent Toshiba product.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this T.V. because I was looking to upgrade from a 32" tube and @ $400.00. beans I decided this was a good buy. Tested it out just in time for the super bowl and was very impressed with the picture quality and sound. Definitely will get the Roku-Streaming-Stick for the smart apps. Only regret was not ordering it for black friday when they were @ 350.00.

Excellent TV at an Excellent Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously had a 40" Toshiba TV, I upgraded to this TV and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't need a smart TV because I have an Apple TV, Kindle Fire TV, and Streaming Blu-Ray player. I didn't see the need in buying a TV with the same quality at a higher price since I had all of these devices already. The picture quality is GREAT! Also, if you have a home theater system hooked up to your TV there is an option for you to turn off the TV speakers. This helps you not blow out the TV speakers. I am thinking about getting a second one since it is such a good deal and great quality.

Unbeatable TV for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was apprehensive about purchasing this TV because of the price point but I waited a couple days for reviews to start showing up on the site and they were all quite positive. The TV is very basic in features but for me it was exactly what I needed... An LED display with a great refresh rate and only 60hz since console gaming is, at the most, 60 frames/sec. The TV handles two-way communication over HDMI so the controller controls the audio on my receiver with no programming and also natively controlled Kodi, which I'm running on a raspberry pi. To complain about audio on a TV that is thin is like complaining about not getting a tan on a rainy day. Don't expect great audio but I don't expect great audio from a $3k 4K TV either. Can't create any bass resonance in a housing that small. If you are buying a big TV you should probably have a quality sound system to go along with it. The final question should be, would I buy this again at regular price? absolutely.

Great TV for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on the pre-black Friday special for $349. Replacing old garage tube TV. This was a perfect fit for the size and the price. I have no issues with buzzing or picture colors. This TV does have a Best Buy label on back of the TV so may have been built specifically for Back Friday at Best Buy but it works for me!

Awesome Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV if you don't care about all the apps and the other bells and whistles. I don't need to look at the internets on my TV. I can already do all that on my tablets, PC and iPhone. Picture quality is great and the sound quality is very good. Priced at 399$. You can not beat that price.

Amazing Buy for an Awesome TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this TV today after my 3-year old 47" LG LED HDTV decided to not work due to a backlight needing to be replaced. Instead of paying up to $400 to replace, I decided to replace it with a 55" Toshiba LED HDTV for $399.99. I got a 5-year warranty Geek Squad warranty on it just in case as my previous TV stopped working a month after my 2-year warranty expired. I also got a Roku stick to plug into it & my other two HDTVs (32' Samsung & 57" Mitsubishi). So far my family & I love it for the size, clarity of picture, & a bargain price for 12-month financing. It was easy to set up & is the perfect size for my living room since we decided to change the location of the TV. My older kids will be surprised after coming back from their dad's next weekend for this. Prayerfully my TV search will be over for a while. As much as I like finding deals, I don't want to pay another $400-$500 in a couple years. Here's to many years of awesome TV viewing pleasure. I can't wait for NFL & NBA season to sit back & watch this or the Mitsubishi since I don't work two jobs anymore.

Friggin Awesome TV for the $$$$
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome Tv for the money. Got it for $350 bones. Can't tell it from a $2000 tv when its not side by side another one in the store. HD looks incredible. Got a mount for $30 for it that worked great. Only thing weird is the box says LED TV and the back panel of the tv says LCD TV. Guess what, I don't care, it was $350 and it looks great! Only problem now is what to spend the money on that I saved when buying this rig.

Solid TV for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is no thousand dollar Samsung smart TV, but it's very good. Colors and contrast are good, the size is excellent, the quality of the panel is very good for the price. It has 3 HDMI ports which is amazing given that a Samsung TV of several hundred dollars will only have 2. The only complaint is with certain content, the speakers come off as weak. Despite that, the overall product is astounding for its price.

For the price it is great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got this for a spare in a den. We aren't gamers...we just wanted something with a good picture which this has. For the upstairs we got the real time 2050 pixel, but for what this is for you can't beat it.

Fantastic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Virtually all of the 50" inch or larger TVs have the "Smart" features. If -- like me -- you use a Tivo box, you really don't want to pay for that stuff. This Toshiba TV is just a basic TV, nothing special except a really good picture. And, at the sale price offered by BestBuy ... you can't go wrong!

Outstanding value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't sure what I'd get for $350 so my expectations were low. I was very impressed when I set the TV up and started watching it. The picture is excellent and the sound is quite good for built-in speakers. The remote is clear and simple. For a basic 55" 1080p TV, I highly recommend it.

A basic t.v. with excellent picture and price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The summary says it all basically. It's not a "smart" t.v. or 3D or any other fancy stuff that tv's come with now a days. But it has an excellent picture and is large enough to be seen in almost the largest room. I've had this tv since November 2015 and I have no complaints whatsoever. Very highly recommend if you want a large tv at a great price but none of the fancy bells and whistles that only drive the cost higher.

Impressive HDTV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought two of these. One for our family room and one for my wife's parents. Both of them work flawlessly! The picture looks awesome and the sound is great! No problems whatsoever! With this TV, over the air antenna and a Roku 3 or similar device is a great way to save $$$ over using expensive cable TV. I highly recommend this HDTV.

Great Picture, Sound and Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has a great picture. It is perfect for a person who watches over the air TV as you are able to add channels without rescanning and losing the channels you already have. Sound is good and my TV has no hum regardless of any settings. I use a Roku to make this bargain TV into one that is much smarter than any smart TV you can buy.

So far so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is a great product. Having had a 46" Toshiba for the past 4 years with 0 problems, I didn't think twice. The picture is crisp and clear and sound is not bad. I paid $349 and it was a no brainier for the size. No complaints here.
