This TV is everything I expected it to be and more. The picture quality is outstanding and the added bonus of having Google Chromecast built-in puts it over the top. Set up was a breeze and the size is perfect. I can't believe what I paid for this versus what I got. For those having issues with the Chromecast, I have experienced none of that frustration. Not regretting this purchase at all.

Not what I wanted but was talked into buying it. The Toshiba television that was advertised was no longer available in any of the surrounding stores so I settled for the older model. Not bad but not the one I wanted it's not up to date as the one advertised.

Decent picture quality. Not amazing but not bad. I thought I would like chrome and not mind using my phone or iPad as a remote. I do. Plus it's flaky. More than once I've had volume cut out and had to close and reopen whatever app I'm streaming from. I'd use the tv more if it was a normal smart TV. Good value overall for the price when on sale (paid $329) but better TVs out there if you're willing to spend more money. I'm ok with it since it's just a bedroom TV that doesn't get used much.

So many companies are pushing 4K TV's and content. For something more practical, this TV is a great buy. This is the 3rd Toshiba I've purchased, and I've yet to be disappointed. I run a Blu-ray player, XBox One and AppleTv, through this Toshiba LED. Picture quality on all of these platforms is simply incredible, especially Blu-ray content. I find the built in Chromecast an especially handy feature. There are countless apps that allow wireless streaming from Android as well as iOS, and I can even mirror my phone screen if I really wanted. This TV is not a big and bad, over priced curved model, however, but don't let the low price fool you. This Toshiba is capable of deep blacks, as well as bold rich colors. For the money, this TV more than stacks up to the likes of the best Samsung and Sony models. Best purchase I've made in a long time.

    Solid TV for the money

Picture is solid overall. Blacks are at times are not the best and when you are at the edges of its prime viewing angles the colors and blacks do start to really fade, but the viewing angle is reasonable. If you are a casual viewer like us you wont be disappointed. If you are used to high end TVs you may want to look into other options. We watch a lot of sports and so far it has been great for that. I was hesitant about a 60hz TV due to a lot of hype about needing 120hz for sports. But we have not noticed any problems with this TV and am glad I didn't spend more for 120hz since I clearly wouldn't have noticed the difference. Unlike most of the negative reviewers, we know what chromecast is. And while I understand people expecting a tradition smart TV could be frustrated, it is very clear this is a cast based one. As a few others have mentioned the opening cast setup prompt does go away if you just set, so there actually is not an ongoing annoying prompt. The chromecast works fine, you just have to install Google Home to set it up and I feel streaming does work a little better through the Google Home app. But you can still directly use your Netflix app, HBO Go app etc. as well. Got this on sale for $300. This model seems to frequently dip down to the $300-$350 range. At that price it is worth a try as you get a lot of TV for your money.

    So Far So Good

So after looking several weeks, and at many, many TV's we decided to go with the Toshiba here, as it was both on budget, and at least a brand we'd heard of / had before in other products. We aren't die hard TV watcher's we do enjoy the occasional movie, or Netflix and dinner. So far the picture seems great and the sound isn't too bad either. Though we'll be searching for a soundbar or home theater package eventually just to "step it up" a bit, for just a TV it's not terrible. However I am not terribly fond of Google Cast, it kind of seems like a pain to use, only as you have to use either a computer, tablet, or smart phone to use, which means you eat the battery life of something else in order to stream to the TV. We do however have a blu-ray player with built in wifi and use it's streaming service instead, and it works much much easier! If you are looking for a TV with at least a brand name you've heard of, that isn't the "top of the top" but does the job its intended, to watch TV, then I suggest giving it a try. For being a 55in and not costing over $500 I definitely think its not a bad deal. We put ours on a TV stand, and was easy to mount / brackets and all. Going to attach a couple of pictures, one of it off, one on.

Hi! We really appreciate you took the time to write this review. We'd like to explain that when using Google Cast for streaming, your phone or other mobile device battery won’t drain. This is due to the fact that after finding and selecting the content you wish to stream on your set, you will be able to use your phone for another purpose or even turn it off. The streaming content will continue through your home network. Daniel T. - Toshiba Support

It has a decent picture. Pretty good value for the money. I was never a fan of Chrome cast, so,that feature means nothing to me. The remote leaves alot to be desired. No number keypads , so you have to go through all the channels to find your channel. Really don't understand that. I guess I could buy a universal remote, just lose the cast feature on it. Besides that, a pretty good buy and value.

We bought several of these to add to our new office expansion. These are very nice TV's for the money. We use them mainly for publishing still media so the slow refresh rate isn't an issue. The picture itself is very good and the Chromecast built-in feature allows us to use the TV's as a monitor in the conference rooms.

It is a very brilliant idea to have units like this. I wanted to replace and old smaller TV on the living room and honestly I didn't want to spend a fortune on a decent 55". It doesn't have all the smart bloat applications (That requires $ub$cription$). The quality; for a 55", 1080p, 60Hz, 8ms response, this unit display a very decent picture compared to other model (IN ITS CLASS). I don't know why some people compare TV contrast ratios because each manufacturer handles this ratios differently. Being realistic as a human that comes from work and wants to see the news or watch a movie, this unit has a decent contrast combination. Pretty bright white luminance and dark blacks. The inboard chromecast device is a bonus. It works just like the external chromecast device. With a good Internet service, decent router(s) and good signal there is no streaming delay. Do not expect miracles with mediocre routers. Streaming from phones, tablets or computers of different platforms (iOS, Android, PC, MAC, Linux) is a plus. Ok, chromecast setup might not be a cup of tea for everyone, but once it is setup correctly it work flawlessly. Using the tuner of this unit with a simple amplified digital antenna is quite impressing too. I have a few 1080 channels over the air using digital antenna and I'm quite impress with the sharpness and quality. Now, the remote control is weird. The engineers of this unit forgot to add numbers to the control. You can't type channel number and hit enter to go to that channel. You will need to hit up or down in order to browse channels. TOSHIBA: NOT EVERYTHING IS CLOUD. There are normal people in this earth. Over the air channels still exist. ADD THE NUMBER PAD TO THE CONTROLLER. It's inexpensive. For people concerned about budget and want to upgrade a TELEVISION (On, Watch, Off) not an appliance to talk to mars with all the techy !@#$% specs, I totally recommend this unit.

I was very happy at the price when I bought this, it's a good size and good visual images, but I'm disappointed at the confusing smart TV functions. The TV has so netflix, Hulu, youtube and other apps on it, instead it has chrome cast which requires your phone syncing with the TV anytime you want to use one of those services. This seems crazy to me in the 21st century.

Great price for a 1080p 55" TV with Chromecast builtin. Only negative I have seen is remote is up and down to change channels. Remote does not have numbers to pick a specific channel without surfing. Only has power button on TV. Works perfect for my purposes and very slim to hang on the wall.
