Saw this TV in a daily deal email weeks before I actually bought it but decided to wait. When it came around again, I decided it was too good a deal to pass up again. So far, it's been a great buy. The size fits perfectly in my living room, where I previously had a 40" Insignia (which was also a Best Buy daily deal buy). I wanted a bigger TV so this was a nice upgrade. Good picture, sound is okay. I'll never understand why flat screens have the speakers on the back, unless it's just to make you buy a soundbar. I hooked it up to my home stereo, which is surround sound so not an issue anymore. I also like that it has Chromecast built in. I bought a Chromecast plugin back around Christmas. It's nice that I don't have to share it with this TV; all the plugging/unplugging tends to get old. I would definitely recommend it, if it's on sale.

I bought this TV for my bedroom because of a few reasons. I was looking for a 55" TV and this was on sale for a great price. It had Google Chromecast built into it and specs were decent. I wasn't expecting a lot otherwise. The TV has a pretty good picture and easy to use. However, the remote is as basic as it could get. No numbers?? It's laid out oddly, and it looks like something that comes with those $9.99 RC card my kids liked when they were 5.

I was looking to upgrade an old hand-me-down TV. My goal was get a larger screen without breaking the bank. After reading reviews about Chromecast not being an issue once set up, I decided on this Toshiba 55" when it went on sale for $299. Very happy with the picture at this price point. The speakers seemed fine during setup, though I have it hooked up to surround sound now.
The refresh rate on this is 60Hz. I think that's the trade-off at this price point if the TV has smart or casting capabilities. There are three HDMI inputs and a composite input, but no component input if you're looking for that.
One con: the auto power off feature does not seem to be working, even though I have it set to "On".
Overall, pleased with this purchase.

We wanted to upgrade from our 32" TV, but I was skeptical that we could find quality in our price range. This TV fit all of our needs and quite a few of our wants and also have us features we did not know we wanted! It's great to control the TV with my iPhone because we lose the remotes so often. Google Cast ready means we do not need another device that use our Netflix/HULU/Amazon Prime accounts. I remain impressed!

I bought this TV for my garage when it went on sale. It is nice to have the chromecast built in, as all of my apps are Cast capable, and I didn't have to spend the 35 for another chromecast. It could use some of the other apps built in, in case I don't want to have my phone with in the garage as well.
Very clear picture and sounds pretty good for TV speakers. It is loud enough to hear in a 5 car garage.
The only complaint besides not having more smart apps, is the remote could be better.

So far, so good on this television! It has a great picture, and it hasn't any lags in motion so the 60hz refresh rate is sufficient for regular TV action. The sound isn't too bad either. We were looking at many TV options, and we decided to go with the Toshiba here, as it was both on budget, and at least a brand we'd heard of. The inboard chromecast device is a bonus. It works just like the external chromecast device. With a good Internet connection, decent router and good signal there is no streaming delay. Used it for a month now, all-in-all, this TV is pretty good.
For people concerned about budget and want to upgrade to a decent TV, I totally recommend this unit.

First of all I am surprised that I was able to get this for $300. I didn't really care about the SmartTV aspect of the TV because I already have an Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV but was surprised by how convenient the embedded Chromecast is. The TV can be controlled through the Toshiba TV app so I never have to reach for the remote since my phone is always with me.
Additionally, the TV has this thing called HDMI-CEC which always compatible devices to switch over to that input/device when it is turned on. For example, when I turn on the Fire TV, the TV will automatically switch over to that input.
Lastly, the picture is great and could not expect anything better.

We were looking for a larger smart TV to replace our 10 year old 40-inch non-smart Sony TV so when this came up as the deal of the day for less than three hundred bucks, we hurried to buy it before it sold out. It's our first Toshiba and we've been happy with it as our main TV. I hadn't noticed an issue with Chromecast when I turn on the TV so I asked my son about it since he set up the TV. According to him (he's 13), once you set up Chromecast initially, you'll be able to bypass it going forward. Just thought I'd share that with others who are having an issue "getting around" it.

The TV was easy to set up, the colors are perfect, the picture is crisp, and it's easy to use. The size is great and I can't wait for football season to watch games on a bigger screen.

I read the reviews and was not going to purchase this television. Others seemed as though they had glitches that were uncontrollable. I am so glad i didn't listen. This has been the best purchase the price was just a bonus.I love being able to go straight from a show or blog from my phone and display it on my television effortlessly. You download an app and a child can do configure it from there; literally my three year old does it. Great purchase even easier that i did it online with in-store pickup.

I bought this TV on sale and the price was great. I also wanted a TV with built in Chromecast. The TV itself has a great 4K picture and works as expected, however I'm not really happy with the built in Chromecast.
I have other 2nd generation Chromecast devices on other TVs and they work very well but the built in one in the Toshiba must be 1st generation as it is much slower than the new ones. Firmware updates for the TV have not solved this problem.

I got this Tv during the president's day sale for $299. I searched the website for two weeks before deciding on this one. I just wanted something a little bigger than my previous 48 inch Samsung. The picture is amazing, and even though it's not 4K, the darks are rich and you overall get a really clear pic. The chrome cast is okay, I did use it a few times for YouTube, but I normally just use the apps already built into my cable box. Overall great buy, definitely a steal at this price.

I am overly pleased with this television. I bought it for $330 without tax it ended up being $356 after tax. Such a beautiful picture for the price! Sound is great as well I don't need to put the sound over volume 8 as it is so clear and loud I don't need to turn it up any higher. I have a 65 inch 4K Samsung television that costed over $1,300 and quite frankly, it is not that much better to be paying such a significantly increased price when this tv looks and sounds just as great. It is not technically a smart tv, it is smart enabled. So it doesn't not have apps built in, you have to stream apps from your phone and send them to your tv via chromecast which is a great feature for people who enjoy streaming. For the people writing reviews about the tv starting up on the google cast input are wrong. All you need to do to solve this issue is to download Chromecast regardless if you're going to use it or not and it will start on any input you left it on previously. This tv is incredible for the price. Only downside I would say is the lack of numbers on the remote that it comes with. But this is not an issue for me as I use the remote that my tv provider has given me. Overall, incredible tv in all aspects. If having an expensive $1,000 and up 4K smart tv isn't important to you, this tv is a great low price HD tv! I play Xbox One often and this tv has a gaming picture option which I am very pleased with and makes my gaming experience much more enjoyable. The photo I uploaded is from my iPhone 7 laying in my bed in my bedroom. Incredible picture.

Very clear and sharp LED picture with a high contrast that is completely adjustable with manual settings to get the exact picture you want. It has Googlecast which works great if you want to play something from another device.
The speakers have a nice high fidelity sound and lots of output for TV sound. Nice bass and great for Movies with lots of action. The TV is very thin and the base takes up little room on a stand. Good quality Toshiba built!
