I am very pleased with this tv. I bought it mostly for the built in fire stick. I am happy with it. It is just like my other TV that use a fire stick.

Pro,
1. I got this on sale for 300 less than regular price so for a 55 inch modern Smart TV that pretty good.
2. The backlight is Full Array Local Dimming which happens to be the best at the moment fpr LED TVs, but OLED and QLED TVs are far better.
3. 4 HDMI ports and one of which is an eARC for better sound quality through modern receivers.
4. Has WIFI and Bluetooth.
5. Supports HDR, HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision for almost any kind of movie format available.
6. The built in speakers are pretty good if you don't have a receiver and have enhanced features that use DTS technology.
7. Support DTS-X and Dolby Atmos through the TV.
8. 120hz refresh rate for a smoother viewing experience.
9. Easy to put together, set up and fits well on my stand designed for a TGV that's no more than 48 inches. That's great not having to buy a new TV stand:). It's also wall mountable.
10. Lastly it's a Fire TV for those who like the Fire Stick and Amazon Alexa.
Cons,
1. It has one USB, but the issue is it's only USB 2.0 which may not play back 4K movies very well.
2. It may have a 120hz display, but you can't display more than 60fps on a computer or a game console. Perhaps if enough of us bug Toshiba they'll give us an update that will allow that.
3. No Freesync supports if used with a computer again if we bug Toshiba maybe they'll give us an update. BTW, on a software level if the display is already HDMI 2.1 there's no excuse for Toshiba not to release a firmware update because it's been done on Samsung and TLC series 5(55 inch and up) TVs.
For the price, picture quality and all the features it worth the price even at MSRP though I couldn't afford that in these hard times. Thankfully Best Buy offers sales sometimes on these things and I got lucky at the right time. I would have given this TV a 4.5 star rating if it had the option, but I didn't have the option and I'm not giving a product a 5 star rating if it has short comings in my use case

Here are my thoughts about this TV after a month of use. First of all Toshiba name is licensed by Hisense, so this TV is manufactured by Hisense under a different brand name.
TV comes with Fire TV OS, and has
built-in microphones for Alexa. One thing i didn’t like about this tv is that kid’s profile is not supported, which is also the case for the Fire cube, I don’t understand why Amazon disabled this feature. The menus are not very sluggish now, but from my experience I can say that it may slow down over time as you install apps and updates. Although the TV has Fire OS there is Apple Airplay support, so you can mirror your display from an Apple device.
The FALD feature provides deep blacks areas but you will notice blooming around whites. Color and contrast is good. I didn’t have any problems watching the TV in a lit room. I think the screen handles reflection well. TV is bright, which let’s you to watch from angle too.
I can confirm the panel is 120hz, but TV doesn't have HDMI 2.1 so it won't support 4K @ 120hz. I tested with an Xbox One S which allowed me to set the resolution to 1080p @ 120hz, but not to a higher resolution @ 120hz.
I think if you are looking for a budget solution with some high end features like
Dolby Vision HDR, HDR10+, this TV will satisfy you.

The TV has very bad picture quality. In short:
-HDR for gaming is too dark, no matter how you adjust the picture settings.
-Local Dimming causes a very bad blooming, it is so bad that, for instance, when the Disney+ circle is rotating while loading, you can see a very large white square where the white side of the circle is passing. Also when Netflix just boots there are very big squares around the N. But, if you turn off local dimming, the picture looks dull, as the blacks look dark grey.
-It doesn't save some settings, I need to change them every time because they revert to default.
-Doesn't really looks as it has a 120 Hz panel.
Picture quality improved a little after an update and also after adjusting the settings, but you have to adjust too much for it to look decent for dark scenes in HDR. Still it is too dark and if you increase the brightness, the blacks go gray. Still has the very bad blooming when Local dimming is on. Sharpness and motion handling is great and the reason I liked it.
The worse stuff...
-They say it has 16GB of memory and it is 12GB
-The HDMI ports, while they say they are 2.1 and the panel supposedly is 120Hz, cannot do 4K @ 120 Hz on the Xbox. I wasn't even able to get 120Hz on 1080p.
-It doesn't have DTS:X. Neither the Xbox or the sound bar recognizes it. The specs on the label and box only say DTS HD which is not the same.
And the worst of all...
It already failed. Screen went black, but subtitles and sound were working.
I saw that was a problem with older Toshiba Fire TV and has not being fixed yet.
It must be a problem with their connections inside as some times when going to Dolby Vision it flickers in green, like when an HDMI cable is going bad or is connected the wrong way... But here there are no HDMI cables, it is the apps on the TV itself.
On the good side, the Fire interfase is good (though not so fast), and it scanned a lot of channels through my anntena, more than I have ever had. Also the remote controls the BluRay player, and has some smart features that are very nice... But the most important thing for a TV is picture quality and this one doesn't deliver.

This TV's colors pop. Beautiful picture all around sound is very good also. Alexa can do anything you want from the TV by just speaking her name. The only disappointment the TV is not 120 HZ through HDMI. The TV is only 120 HZ through apps and the regular TV again not through HDMI. HDMI on this TV is 60 HZ they do make adapters that will bump it up to 120 HZ through the HDMI. Look on Amazon for the adapters.

Good picture quality. Was able to pick it up for 325 on sale. Built in fire tv is a two edged sword. The options to calibrate your tv are limited by the slow laggy fire tv os. Its refresh rate advertised at 120hz native....i dont believe. The 240hz refresh rate upscaled i havent experienced. Either through apps on the fire tv OS or through HDMai inputs. They maybe there but i dont really feel i have experinced it. I am going to do a professional hdtv calibration very soon but this is a steal at 325. And would be good deal at 400. But not much more. I still cant get a clesr answer on whether or not the hdmi are 2.1 compatible or hot. Xbox says no. Sound is downward firing so it will be slightly muffled if not mounted.

Bought for my Mom as a birthday gift and she really loves it. The screen has great viewing angles and nice full color. She likes the Alexa built in. Warning: Screen turns black and TV looks off when leaving the room on pause for more than 10 minutes. Press pause instead of turning the TV off and back on. She does not play Xbox on it so can't review that.

At current price not bad deal, I paid more. If your buying this tv for the local dimming spend more the blooming is bad. The 120hz is also kinda not useful. The built in fire TV interface is decent, and sound is good. Problems include sound not working unless switching to different input and back again, smooth vision always turning on and having to turn it off, once in a while have to disconnect power and reconnect for it to power on. Now final issue thin line appeared across screen, ugg, will try warrenty service. At current price worth a gamble but you may be better off stepping down to standard 60hz set or up to qled or oled set ..

I am extremely happy with this TV. It has everything I was looking for. True 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Full Array Local Dimming, and extremely responsive smart Fire TV capabilities. To get this for under $600 is a steal. I would have gone with the 65” if it fit on my existing stand. It is the best value at the moment.
The picture is great and bright enough for me. It is also a brand I know and that has been making TVs for 70+ years.
One note is that you need to use voice control, if you have it turned on, to power other accessories on/off. It includes an IR Blaster that controls my Yamaha receiver well.

Bought this TV based on the 1 review at the time. Originally, I was going to use this as an outdoor TV given the low price. I tried it out quickly outside to see if it was bright enough and sure enough it was. I hooked it up to my brand new PS5 and I liked it so much that decided to keep it as a bedroom TV. Now I just need to calibrate it to get the most out of it.

My previous Toshiba tv died after around 7 years and since I have several Alexa in the house I went for this as a replacement. When steaming from Disney or Netflix the picture quality is fantastic almost 3D like and very very clear. Watching cable can be more variable depending on what the input to the tv is. I love being able to control it with my voice and after a few weeks I have no complaints about this tv.

This is a fantastic tv. The picture is so clear it almost hurts your eyes. I purchased the tv for my 85 year old mother and she is so pleased with it. I love the Alexa option. My mom can now turn the tv on or off with a Alexa command. She can change cannels and make the volume go up or down. I wish every tv I have was just like this one.

this is my 3rd Toshiba fire tv
first was a 720p 32in
next the 2020 43in that imo was/is about the best tv around for sub 300
this tv for the 500 we paid is amazing IQ
we cannot comment on the sound at all - it might be total rubbish
but we've had it hooked up to external from the moment we installed it -
it is not the same sound as the M550 overseas which has a subwoofer , this has the outline where that would have gone but no subwoofer there
it def needs to be tuned out of the box to make it a more enjoyable experience but after you get it tuned in oh my its lovely - motion settings can ruin the experience
our last premium tv was a sony x850d - cost 1200 on sale 5 years ago
this image quality might be a solid step up from that mid level sony
the UI experience is the same as all our previous fire tv's - this is faster to navigate tho
since I'm the first reviewer and its the holidays
if you are in debate on buying this TV or any TV in the 500 range and know how to tune them don't wait and get one now while they are on sale

Good bang for the buck, picture is awesome and is better with the 480 motion rate, sound is loud and crisp and the speakers are above average. Beware the tv can only output 60hz, tried different cables and even on 1080p, it can only output 60hz.
