My family and I all pitched in to purchase this gift for my mom on Mother’s Day. I have not heard from her whether or not she likes it or not yet. As for me, I decided to purchase another one for myself separate. 2TB has a lot of elbow room. The price is not bad at all considering the competition and what’s out there on the market. I even had a gift card code so I was able to take $5 off. I was originally looking for something more durable: waterproof, fireproof, drop proof. Something that could hold all of your personal files and computer backups, and can be recovered. I know there is a way to do encrypting, however, I really look forward to buying one of these one day with all of these safety features or security features already included. The security external hard drives I found before are all gigantic and not portable. I trust this company/brand, but I have it in my head that there is a possibility for the device to crash. However, I do not know enough to understand how concerned I should be about the storage devices reliability. That’s why reviews are helpful when shopping and the main reason I am taking the time to do one right now. My brother also recently purchased a 2TB external hard drive. I am not sure which company but I know it’s a different brand. He connected it to his ps4 because the 500GB that the systems hard drive came with is not sufficient... that is if you want to store more than a couple of games at a time and still have room for the possibility to download future games. We are getting towards the end of this generation of consoles life cycle so it is normal to see game developers push these systems to their limits. For example, a lot of people are upset that today’s COD WarZone takes 100GB+ of storage.... the first ps4 models that originally camel out only offered 500GB or 1TB hard drive option that was not even sufficient for that time. Keep in mind that the typical gamer will also need extra space on top of the space they use to store games because of DLC and other separate game content I might not be mentioning or am forgetting to mention. This is also another popular and helpful application for this device. I only wonder if he (my brother) is able to detach it and reattach it without corrupting data. I am almost certain that once you decide to hook it up to a gaming system that you need to leave it seeing how the system requires you to format the external hard drive right as you connect it. If applicable, I would also try to leave this device connected to your PC and leave it. Removing and inserting USB devices over time can do a number on the ports and wear them out faster (as I have learned from experience). For now, I use mine on my laptop where I freely detach it and store it in a safe and then reattach it when needed. Eventually I will get my own computer station so I will not have to do this. I have a PlayStation 4 that came with a 2TB hard drive. So... it’s not worth it for me to use an external hard drive. That would be excessive. I like how the device had a small light that illuminates when data is being moved or manipulated. I also like the detachable connecting cord that can be replaced if damaged or swapped out for a longer cord. It possibly looks like a charging cord I have seen used on some Samsung/Android phones. Packaging is also good. I can imagine the device would be fine if the delivery guy were to drop it or runs it over a couple of times on the way to your home, so no worries there. On a side note: I really wonder what my ps4 is worth seeing how I cannot find any used ps4’s online like mine that come with 2TB hard drives (factory stock). From my research, the only way to get a ps4 that comes with that much storage (factory stock) is to buy a 2TB ps4 pro model. This makes me wonder if the previous owner upgraded the storage or not. I can imagine my PS4 is valued a little bit higher than the $200.00 I originally paid for it. If you could tell me what it’s worth, please leave me a comment. Just to give you a comparison of how much storage 2TB is, I have four downloaded games (games with no disk) and a hand full of pictures and the YouTube and Netflix app. All of that with my misc. system data hardly puts a dent in the storage. It would be pretty impressive to see the day that I fill that hard drive all the way to it’s capacity. Highly unlikely haha. With all of this said, I am sure you might be fine with buying something with less data, however, having the peace of mind that you are unlikely to run out of storage space is something else. You are likely buying this item for the luxury of elbow room. Also, when you consider cost, the 1TB version of this product is physically the same size. In addition to this, it does not cost that much more to upgrade to the 2TB model. The price differential between the two is not very high. I say, if your gonna spend the money to invest in some extra storage space or whatever, I recommend going for the 2TB model between the two. Please write your own review when you purchase this item. The hard drive met my expectations. Fast. Compact. Lots of digital space. All good

Bought this for my dad as a gift. This piece is sturdy and can hold everything on my laptop. These are compatible with Mac and PC, I believe, but it works just fine on my dad's PC!

Great portable hardrive, easy install and quick setup for my playstation 4 2TB storage was plenty for external use.

This thing is bigger then I thought. Twice the size of my Seagate hard drive. Feel kinda cheap but it works, I guess that’s all It matter. Probably won’t buy it agin or recommend For the price you could get a better brand like Seagate. Unfortunately it was the only hhd available.
