This is my second Toshiba USB 3.0 2TB thin drive. The first one I had for about 2 years (blue) when is started having problems, so I ordered this one as a replacement. So, so far this drives has worked well (2 months), but keep in mind that there are 2 drawbacks: (1) it takes almost 7-8 seconds to rev up and become usable after it sits idle for a while (a couple of minutes or less), as did my first 2TB Toshiba, and (2) the first one I had lasted only a little under 2 years, which I do not find really acceptable. So, I may have to write in again in the future if or when this one starts dying. I have been using it as a first line storage, as opposed to using the internal hard drive in my computer, and which would have meant that I use the external Toshiba one as backup. I do this so I can transport the external Toshiba drive and use it on other computers, such as I do with my laptop, and thus, have all my data at hand. I also use it on some of my other computers (I have many) as well. I use the internal hard drive more as the backup for this reason, so everyday or every 2-3 days I backup all the data on the Toshiba to my internal hard drive, and then to my NAS drive as well. One backup is not enough for my very valuable data! It may turn out that this usage technique may 'over use' the external drive, and hence perhaps why my first one lasted only 2 years, or so. My internal hard drives typically last for 8-15 years. But this reason for the previous Toshiba unit's short life is just a guess on my part. But if you purchase this external Toshiba drive at a very good price (@ $70 or less), then this is a very good deal and a very nice product. I have a very large amount of personal data, so I need a 2TB removable drive, and this one is small, easy to carry, and has NO NEED for and outlet, which is very nice when traveling! I have a retired (still working) 1.5TB Toshiba drive, but it does not hold enough data. If this new one craps out in 2 years or less again, I may just may have to buy another one!

I haven't had a whole lot of time, hands on experience, with this product. But, with that being said, so far I feel very good about my choice to go with the Toshiba canvio connect 3.0 usb external hdd. For example it was very easy to get setup! All you have to do is plug it to your computer, laptop, etc. I actually bought this hdd because I have a newer laptop that the hdd inside, just out of the blue, went out and was unsalvageable. Well, of coarse that was a nightmare because it literally contained everything from pointless pics to the most important sentimental 10,000+ pics, almost 100gb hd home videos, and plenty of important docs. My mom had passed a few years back and that was all lost, just that quick. There is a good part, and that is I had forgotten that I backed everything up on our old laptop! It has Windows Vista and I wasn't for sure this hdd worked with Vista, and also it only has the 2.0 usb. Well, so far there have been no problems and I hope that there aren't any! Definitely saved the day, month, year! So far it has been exactly what I've needed! Honestly, I don't know why we didn't get one a long time ago, but we are getting a 1tb model for my wife to use for her job as a teacher!

I had been looking for a good external HD for a long time. This one just happened to pop up as a Deal of the Day, so I snagged it. Big improvement over the 1TB external that I bought a few years ago, which required a separate power cord and has been making a little noise lately. This is much, MUCH smaller, runs power via the USB, and works great for me. Impressed with the size and storage capacity (2TB) and got it at a good price, so no real complaints.

It's small in size but big on performance. It is fast loading and easy to use. The price for a 2T drive was amazing and my friends are jealous.

These small Toshiba external hard drives are awesome. The are small and work extremely well. The level of storage capacity is very impressive for such a small unit. They are very reliable.

Good external hard drive that's easy to connect to, great for backing-up files. Probably better to go for a larger hard drive though.

This item is compact, very easy to setup and use, has plenty of storage capability, and is fast using the USB 3.0 port on your computer. Windows recognizes it is USB 3.0 and will work on USB 2.0 but Windows lets you know to use a 3.0 port for faster results. I have been using for two weeks and have not had any problems.

Got it on sale at Best Buy in September 2015. 2TB for $69 was a good deal. I use it to store multiple chronological back-ups of my various virtual machines. If required, I can start up these VMs on new PCs and make use of the fast USB3 interface so I do not need to copy them to the PC's local drive.

I bought this about a year ago and it has been rock-solid. I don't know how well these things hold up if dropped, and I don't want to find out. I hook it up a few times a month and it stays connected for two or three days. No problems, it's fast and does what it's supposed to do.

The Toshiba 2TB drive provides a lot of storage space for large video files, but doesn't seem to be as fast as their 1TB drive. I get copy speeds in the 95-110 MB/sec range on the 1TB drive, but only 55-75 MB/sec range on the 2TB drive.

This drive is beautifully crafted and a pleasure to use. It includes software to make backing up and recovering or restoring easy. You can put it in your pocket or purse so it is available when you need it. You'd need a bag full of flash drives to get this much storage - 2TB.

I found this drive very easy to use, only usb port needed. I don't have usb 3 so it wasn't as fast as it would be. I was able to transfer file easy and for 2 TBs it is small in size. I am amazed by this drive. Can carry it in shirt pocket. Would recommend to anyone.

The Toshiba Canvio Connect USB 3.0 2TB external drive has an excellent value overall. It's made by a company known for quality and durable electronic products and the design is sleek, modern and astonishingly compact for having a humongous amount of storage capacity - 2TB. Transfer rate was blazing fast on USB 3.0 but I was also able to use it in USB 2.0 with decent performance. Now I have transferred all my photos, videos and documents from 4 different hard drives and barely even used up a quarter of the memory space. Installation was plug and play but you may want to avoid the backup software that came with it.

I have never owned an external hard drive but found this one for such a great daily deal price. Not a techie by any means but this is so easy to use. I purchased it to store my numerous photos.

Works perfectly with my Xbox One and allows me to store a ton more games without having to worry about space. Doesn't require an AC adaptor and takes up almost no room. Great product.

I would normally buy a portable SSD enclosure but this drive was at such a bargain at Best Buy for $69 that I had to grab it. Nice to have this much space in such a small package.

Product is very small and portable and was very easy to set up. Would recommend to all my friends and family looking for an affordable external with lots of memory.

I have purchased this brand in external hard drives before and love the convenience and portability of drive. Easy connect is a USB 3.0 so file transfers are fast.

This Toshiba external hard drive is easy to use, very compact and works like a charm booting up with your computer. Perfect for back up or storing pictures, etc.

We have a couple of these and have never had a problem with them. Other brands have crashed and we lost data but not the Toshiba.
