The mark of a good hard drive or solid state drive is that you don't notice them. This drive is fast, it makes no noise at all, and so far hasn't given me any reason to notice it at all. The 7mm form factor is easy enough to work with, though I wish Toshiba had included new mounting screws with the drive so that I didn't have to reuse the ones I nearly rounded out from the old drive.

After finding out that the previous hard drive on our main computer received mechanical hard drive failure, we consulted Best Buy's Geek Squad to see what we could do. They recommended this SSD, or Solid State Drive. The SSD is more durable than a hard drive, more efficient, but cost more than previous hard drive purchases. This is because it has no moving parts. The only problem with this is that the drive can only take a certain amount of rewrites (moving files, relocating files, deleting, or adding programs). But to reach that limit one must move his/her files a LOT on a daily basis, so this should not concern most. Geek Squad installed the SSD free of charge (part of Geek Squad Protection Plan), which took a few days. We left the computer with them, then came back when they called. So far, it seems that they installed it correctly, because no problems have appeared, and no scratches or dents have mysteriously appeared after the installation. The computer operates extremely fast. To boot-up this computer takes about 30 seconds; O_o; compared to our old hard drive, which took about 2 minutes. Also this computer has not failed mechanically even though some of the younger family members have thrown tantrums on it. Gladly this purchase was not similar to a hard drive purchase we made from Amazon previously. The hard drive arrived in a box with so-so packaging, and we had to have a friend install it for us. The computer was constantly plagued with long and erratic boot-ups, and every now and then a crash. This was extremely inconvenient for our family. I'm not sure if the hard drive was corrupt from the beginning or if it got banged up while shipping, but I could not stand having this happen again. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this SSD. Thank you Geek Squad for recommending and installing such a great product. And thank the computer gods it didn't end up like our old hard drive.

Installed in Apple Mac Mini 2.3 I7 quad core. Boots to start screen in 18 seconds vs 1 minute 15 seconds with 1TB hard drive. Read and Write speeds comparable to Samsung Pro SSD for a lot less money.

One of the top 3 things you can do to speed up a computer is to upgrade your hard drive to SSD. This hard drive is ideal for a business computer or even a home computer that needs a boost in speed.

Bought this drive to use with my Atomos video recorder, and it's been working great so far. It's quick, responsive, and most importantly, the cost per gig was nice and low when I bought it.

Probably not as fast as the Samsung SSD's, but a top value for performance and data capacity. I've had very good results so far, and I expect to be very happy with this drive for a long while.

I purchased two of the 256GB drives and one 128GB drive, all on sale. Two went in PCs and one in a Mac. They are great drives for the price. Read and write speeds seem very good. They don't include any PC utility software so if you think you will need it look at other brands that include it. Before I purchased I did some searching and found a Toshiba SSD Utility. It launched OK but all options were greyed out. After installing the drive I ran the utility and options were still greyed out. Made many calls to different Toshiba divisions and they don't have a clue, other than there is no utility. There is a download link for a Toshiba only version of NTI Echo which will clone your existing drive to your new Toshiba SSD. I didn't use this software so can't comment. If you think you will ever need to perform a secure erase or perform a manual TRIM you will not be able to unless you purchase 3rd party software. Would have given 5 stars but can't because Toshiba support was so bad.

I was not expecting this sad to have read/write scores so high, I also wasn't expecting the computer I put this drive in to go faster than the one with the samsung 850 pro....a sleeper

I used the Corsair SSD and Hard Disk Drive Cloning Kit because the NTI Echo software recommended by Toshiba is junk. Windows 7 now loads lightning fast and overall speed is greater.

I purchased this drive to upgrade my Dell 3-in-1 laptop. I was pleased to find that Dell used a 128 GB SSD drive as OEM on the laptop. It made me feel more confident upgrading to this drive. I've had the drive a couple of months with great performance and no problems.

I paid a little more for this, but I needed it today not next week. This drive had decent benchmarks and seems to run as good as all the other SSDs I've purchased over the years.

Both read and write speeds are over 500 with this drive. Installed in an old i3 laptop and its as fast as an i5 one I own. May buy another for my PC as the boot drive.

I have been using the drive to run windows 10 connecting it to a MacBook Pro through the USB 3.0. You can't tell the difference between running on the internal Hard Drive or External Toshiba SSD. Which is exactly what I wanted. So far, I'm very pleased.

I put this in my PS4 and it works great. The storage size is enough if you don't typically buy digital games. The speeds are great. I would recommend this SSD.

I heard from friends how fast the drives were they were right. My XPS boots anywhere fromm 25 to 28 seconds. And it is ready to use wow now that is fast.

Had to return the hard drive because the laptop restore program required a 300 G hard drive or larger to restore. BestBuy returned locally with no problems.

Excellent SSD : fast with 554/512 MB/s (read/write), not expensive, good quality (from Toshiba), 3 years warranty. The best choice for a 240-256 MB SSD.
