    Great for Students

I received this PC today and I really like it. As a post graduate student, it fits my budget. I only bought it for the extra hard drive storage. For $200 dollars, I feel like a winner. Having said that, I believe the keyboard needs some improvement.

I purchased this laptop/notebook based on the inflated reviews here. I received this within a few days, and everything seemed fine until I began to hear a distinct screech sound in everything with audio. Whether it was playing a movie to a simple song on YouTube. I upgraded everything and called Toshiba, and they seemed to be helping but the issue remained. I had to returned this back for a full refund and so far best buy has not contacted me. Perhaps.I got a lemon, but this is plain ridiculous to have to go through.

Thank you for the review, Michael1780, and sorry to hear about the audio problem on your Satellite L15-B1330.

Toshiba has extensive quality controls built into our manufacturing processes but occasionally something goes wrong that couldn't be foreseen in testing. That's when the retail new product returns policy kicks in to protect the customer. We have returns agreements in place with all authorized retailers (including Best Buy, of course) to ensure that customers have a window of opportunity to return defective products for replacement.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

This was the first Toshiba product I've every purchased. Unfortunately, it will be my last. The price was perfect! But I guess, you get what you pay for. It's pretty slow. I'm not a person that's uses my laptop for much. Every now and then I may want to stream music from my Amazon Cloud Player or what a show or two from HBO Go. However, doing any other these actions seems to be a bit much for this machine. And make sure you don't have grease, or oils, or lotions etc on your fingers, b/c they will stain the exterior (and it'll be a little difficult to remove the stains.) Better yet, be sure to wear rubber gloves when using this product! After 1.5 weeks, I decided to go ahead and spend another $500 to buy a dell laptop. This product may be good for a 4 or 5 year old, but that's about it.

    Do Not Buy This Laptop

My experience with this laptop and best buy has been horrible. When I got the computer and began setting it up, it would not connect to the Internet and wouldn't even list the various internet accounts to connect to. After several hours with best buy we were able to exchange the deficient lap top for a new one. Then Microsoft Office would not load on the new computer and we spent almost an entire day trying to resolve this problem (it has yet to be solved). Then, the Internet stopped working exactly the same way the previous lap top had done. I would only invest in this computer if you're interested in spending hours of your time going back and forth with customer service for several companies and still ending up with deficient lap top.

Thank you for the review, Mv1230, and sorry that you're having trouble installing Microsoft Office and reliably connecting your Satellite L15-B1330 to the Internet.

I wonder what method you're using to install Microsoft Office. If it's Office 365 then I believe it's going to require a reliable Internet connection to install, so it may be that you're experiencing a single problem (Wi-Fi connectivity) with multiple related symptoms.

As for the Wi-Fi, I recommend updating (or reinstalling if no update is available) the network drivers available at support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200010432 -- click the 'Drivers & Updates' tab, then filter by Operating System and "Wi-Fi". I also recommend reviewing the Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/Networking-Wi-Fi-Knowledge-Base/Troubleshooting-Wi-Fi-Wireless-Problems-Windows-8/ta-p/365081 for other Wi-Fi troubleshooting tips.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

    HORRIBLE !!!

do not buy this product...!!!!! within a week this laptop was crashing, every 10 mins, and it was getting worse and worse. After a while it even stopped finding any network connections. It would crash after every 5 mins saying, CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION. I was trying to fix it myself by doing some research, but it would again crash halfway, not letting me finish it. I am a college student and i fell for the cheap price thinking i will use this laptop for my software, since some of the softwares that i use for my college are easy in windows than in MAC( i am a mac user), and also this laptop was easy for me to carry around in college. I can't even return this product since i exceeded my 15 days return policy. (I should have started using this laptop the moment i bought it, I started using it after a month). So please dont buy this product, do not fall for that cheap price. Me being a cheap college student fell for it, regretting it. There goes a part of my savings !

Thank you for the review, TiksUNT, and sorry to hear about the crashing and error condition that developed with your Satellite L15-B1330.

You may want to review the troubleshooting steps associated with the CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION error at the following Microsoft sites:
      https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff557228(v=vs.85).aspx
      http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-performance/bsod-windows-81-has-found-critical-structure/bd215e83-b3cf-40b7-99fa-92f25efc62f8

If those troubleshooting steps seem too complicated, since the CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION error and crashes can indicate corruption of Windows itself, you may want to instead just perform a Windows Reset to return the software and Windows configuration to factory condition. This will eliminate any problem introduced by software of Windows configuration changes. See the Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article and its embedded video at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 for detailed instructions on how to perform a Windows Reset or System Recovery.

If the problem persists after performing this operation please call Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for further troubleshooting help and, if needed, to make repair arrangements.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

    DEFECTIVE LAPTOP SOLD TO ME!!

I am usually NOT a picky person nor am I one to complain. I make do with most things I have. But this laptop that I bought was defective! The wi-fi did not work at all whatsoever! It could not find any networks to connect to but how can that be, when all my other gadgets are able to connect to my wifi? I called Toshiba tech support and they were no help either! I spent about 15 minutes on the phone just to even get a representative. Other than that, the laptop is pretty small and compact, kind of like the size of an ipad attached to a keyboard. Perfect for commuting with. The keyboard on the other hand isn't so great! I feel as though I have to press down hard enough to type. I am feeling extremely disappointed because this is my first Toshiba laptop and I was really hoping to be able to make a switch from HP to Toshiba. But looks like that won't be happening! Now I have to drive about 25 miles back to Best Buy to get my refund.

Thank you for the review, meili. Sorry to hear about the Wi-Fi problem and that the support rep you spoke with wasn't able to resolve it.

I wonder if you were referred to a warranty repair depot. That would be an option for issues that can't be resolved over the phone.

That said, since the problem occurred when the system was brand new you may have been referred to Best Buy to return the unit for replacement or refund, since that is what most customers prefer when a new system is defective. We have new product return agreements with all authorized resellers to ensure that defective new systems can be replaced by the retail store, rather than having to be sent off for a warranty repair.

If you get the unit replaced with the same model I hope you'll update your review to let us know how it works out for you once you've had a chance to use it for awhile.

Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing Toshiba. Toshiba

    Received used and defective laptop

    Posted .

I purchased two of these. While one was clearly new, the other was obviously a returned laptop that was shipped to a customer who purchased a new product. The contrast between the new one and the used one was stark. The used one was re-taped with Best Buy tape. All of the product wrapping and covering was missing -- even the little plastic clings. The product was defective and kept crashing and rebooting. I was obviously shipped an untested return as used. To make it worse, when I went to return it to the local Best Buy I was hassled by the clerk for the missing wrapping. She said Best Buy would not ship used as new -- well they sure did. Very, very bad experience.

Lemon right out of the box

What an incredibly disappointing piece of junk! After running the initial Windows setup that says "Almost Done" for 45 minutes, it just boots to a black screen. Totally black, absolutely nothing other than a mouse pointer. No restart or shutdowns can fix it. Massive disappointment, especially considering I gave this as a gift to somebody. Horrible experience right out of the box, would never buy Toshiba again.
