    Very forgiving laptop for klutz!

I bought this laptop for myself after getting through college on hand-me-downs and I couldn't be happier. I actually bought one for my mother after seeing how good of a value it was. The battery life is great: average I'd say is 6-7 hrs but often could get 9 or more out of it. I accidentally left it in my car one winter's night and I was so worried that I killed the battery, but after a few charges it was back to normal! I've also dropped it a few times, either from my couch or off a table in my backpack, and there has been absolutely no issues or visible damage. The one complaint I have is sometimes the keys stick or otherwise do not type when I press them, especially if writing quickly... also, the HDMI cable port does not seem to fit in my particular laptop so I can't connect it to the TV.

    Great all around, faster, laptop

For the price this a great all around workhorse of a laptop. 750gb hard drive is more than enough hard drive space for your average, above average daily user. The satin, "grippy" finish feels great and secure in your hands and resist smudges. I've had good experience with Toshiba products in the past. The only thing I'll probably do, just because it's not too hard to do and is not very expensive is; add more ram and maybe upgrade hard drive to a solid state or a hybrid drive. Just to get a big jump in speed for not a lot of money. Laptop alone exceeds all of my expectations!

Awesome Lap Top for Home/work Use!!! :-)

    Posted .

I bought this laptop to replace a 6 year old Core 2 laptop that I used for work as well as home use. This laptop blows my mind for a bunch of reasons. 1. Processing speed - AMD A6 - Quad Core 2. Display is Beautiful and the perfect size at over 15" 3. 750Gb HD 4. 4 Gb Memory, which for windows 8.1 is pushing the limits but Memory these days is cheap. 5. Runs all my Apps without any noticeable lag (Office, iTunes,, Chrome, and YES, it even runs my boy's MineCraft with no lag!!) 6. Performs all this wirelessly!! 7. HDMI Port is an added and wonderful bonus 8. 3 USB Ports - 2 - 2.0 and 1 - 3.0 9. Built-In DVD Drive a plus!! 10. Start-up and Shut-Down is quick and seemless 11. It's Not a workhorse, but for what I use it for (my work functions are all ran in the Cloud and my home functions are not processor intensive), It is worth more than what I paid!! I have no complaints regarding either my purchase or use f this product and will be purchasing another in the near future!!

Best budget machine you will find

    |

So far, this has been the best investment for my new home office solution. This system comes pre-installed with WIN 8.1 (no need to upgrade) and has all the features you are looking for. There is future expansion to 16 gb of RAM, which is not found on too many budget priced systems. While this A6-5200 processor does not appear to support overclocking, I have not seen a degrade in speed from my previous setup. I did a lot of research on a replacement for my older system, and I cannot be happier. There are a few tweaks you will need to make after setup to make all your previous components work, but if you are not going from a desktop with full 5.1 surround and other premium devices, then you are ready out the box. Buy and enjoy!

    Excellent no-frills budget laptop

Purchased this laptop to replace an HP laptop used for business purposes. Requirements were ability to multitask (Excel, Word, Web Browser, Adobe) as multiple programs are open almost exclusively. This laptop handles typical business functionality without a problem. Definitely not for gaming, but if you need a business or personal use laptop at a low price then this is an excellent choice.

    Product great, Windows 8 not-so

Bought this on the strength of the Toshiba brand. So far have been satisfied, but not so satisfied that I would recommend it over any other brand. I do like the size of the laptop and it serves me well for what I need. I have found it to jump out of the document I am working on - I believe it is due to sensitivity if I touch a wrong button. Perhaps that is just me. After years of using Windows XP, I find it hard to get used to Windows 8, which is already on the laptop. That will probably get better, but in the meantime it is frustrating to get back into documents being worked with.

    Good laptop for everyday use.

I had an older Toshiba laptop that finally crashed and needed a new one for everyday searching the web, reading emails and downloading pictures. This one is smaller than my old one but so far I really like it. The price was good and set up was not too hard. Windows 8 was all new for me and was somewhat confusing at first but I'm getting used to it. The sound quality of the speakers are not so good. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the tone so music didn't sound so good. My other Toshiba computer had a much better sound. The customer reviews really helped me make my decision!

    Overall great

I actually bought two of these. My wife and I had recently had some major computer issues and we were looking to replace our old computers. I had used windows 8 before and hated it but was told windows 8.1 was more stable and ran well on these computers. Well it does. I am still not entirely impressed with windows 8.1 either. I am impressed with how solid these laptops have been. No issues with them at all. It did take a while to get them fully updated since windows releases a new update every other day it seemed like but I can't fault Toshiba for that. My wife has even been able to do some heavier gaming on them and not have any issues. Overall for the price I don think you can beat this laptop.

    good computer for the price

I can't complain about the computer itself. It boots up lightning fast, the battery lasts a long time, the display is great and the overall feel is very good. The only thing wrong with it is Windows 8.1. Everything about 8 is bad. Windows 95 was functionality perfection with limited ability, 98 was an improved 95 with a tendancy to crash, 2000 and Vista pretty much might as well not exist, XP was fantastic, 7 was XP with a different name, but 8......... is the epitome of what is wrong with my generation (millenials) It's user-friendliness is actually dumb-downedness, and the screen will randomly change away from what you are doing, for no reason.

    great laptop for the price

This computer I bought mainly for music recording and it works fantastic! It's a great value for the price. The keys don't respond very quickly if you type fast. And the speakers in it are terrible. Full volume you can barely hear it. It's obviously not the biggest, best laptop in the world, but for the price, it's a fantastic value!

I like this computer very much. smaller and clearer than my last Dell Inspiron. It does all that I need it to do. Still some kinks with windows 8 though. It doesn't seem to communicate across the board. all in all, i am glad i purchased this computer. will be a good tool for many years for my means and uses.

Overall for the price you can not beat it. A good size screen, it starts quickly and a good size hard drive. Just have to take off the extra a apps on it. Once in a while Window's apps do not work or it does not connect to the server.

    Best bang for your buck

    Posted .

I bought this on May 2, 2014 and really love it. I needed to replace an 8 -year-old Dell laptop and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I looked at a lot of the lower-priced laptops out there and decided this was the best one for the money. I don't think you can find another laptop with a quad-core processor and a 750GB hard drive unless you spend a lot more money. Unfortunately, like most other PC's and laptops out there, it comes with Windows 8.1, which is a bit better than Windows 8, but that isn't saying much. The first thing I did was dispose of Windows 8 and install Windows 7 Home Premium. Yes, it's an added expense, but worth it to avoid the frustrations and aggravation of Window 8. This laptop was built for Windows 8 so I had to hunt around the web for Windows 7 drivers compatible with it, which wasn't too difficult. Haven't had any issues with it since. If you're looking for a great low-priced laptop this is the one to get.

    Excellent Budget Laptop

I am a full time computer tech and I bought this laptop to use it with Linux Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and let me tell you this is a keeper all the drivers loaded by default, the wireless Relaltek chip was a little slow but upgrading the driver fixed the issue. For $350 laptop cannot be beat quad core CPU and the best 750GB HDD. Linux on this thing runs like a charm. I wont expect to run windows 8.1 on this it will be slow of course. All those people complaining about a slow laptop, for the price what else do you want???? Put Linux on this system and see how fast this thing runs!!!

My Toshiba Satellite is a fantastic laptop however

    |
    Posted .

Don't get me wrong. I think my Toshiba Satellite is great, and after I spend the next 3 months trying to figure how and why it is so great, and get it where I feel comfortable with it, I am sure there will be a "New and Better Operating System" I will have to learn! I Know that technology progresses at an incredible rate, but having to learn another operating system is "Not User Friendly!" I expect to purchase a new laptop, transfer my data, and get back to business! I did not expect to have to go "Back to School" before I could use the thing. Time is Money, and this cost me both! Not Cool!

    Nice Laptop

I bought this laptop for my sister to replace a 6 year old Toshiba she had previously bought on a Black Friday deal event. She loves Toshibas so it was an easy choice as far as brands were concerned. The display is nice and crisp and the sound quality is much better than either of us expected. We got it on sale so that made us even happier. Hopefully this model will last just as long or longer than her last laptop that kept freezing up and overheating. She loves Windows 8 after having been stuck with windows vista on her last laptop. So far she hasn't had any complaints so I think we made a great choice and stuck within our budget.

fair price for a decent laptop

We got the laptop as part of the sale. I was reluctant to get a Toshiba but it was fair for its price. It ran Windows 8 and never having used it, it was easy to get passed the interface. Loadup was fast and it was smooth, provided you dont upload any antivirus software to slow it down.

    Great Laptop for the price

I am not much of a techy but I do research before spending my money on an item. The reviews I found for this laptop were favorable and accurate. I use this laptop for school primarily and it has done fine. The salesman informed me that I could not have too many web pages open at once (or Pandora, etc). I adhered to that advice and all has been well. The keyboard feels a little hollow underneath..like the keys are on a mat and I lifts from the "panel" underneath (again, no techy). This is not a big deal at all though. Great laptop for $300...oh, plan on buying Offie for addt'l $50 (for one year) or $140 to own.
