I was looking for a secondary laptop to do freelance work on when I was away from home. I was worried that windows 8 wouldn't work with my version of photoshop and that it wouldn't be fast enough. WOW, was I wrong. Photoshop CS5 installed without any problems and runs like a champ. This has become my primary laptop and my $2000 laptop from 5-6 years ago is collecting dust. For this price, I am more than happy with this laptop. The only thing this laptop seems to be lacking so far is good speakers. They are alright, but nothing amazing. It doesn't have a backlit keyboard, but I always turn that off anyway. The webcam is "HD" but the quality is your basic cheap webcam blown up to HD size. None of these are deal breakers for me because the keyboard is really comfortable and quiet, and I have good headphones and good computer speakers. Haven't tried any video editing yet, but graphic design and web development tasks have been great! If you wanna save a lot of money and aren't editing movies, this laptop is for you.

I purchased this computer cause my other one crashed. I needed it in a crunch and the price was right. I knew a few friends who had Toshiba products and didn't have any complaints, so I thought why not? Did I mentioned that the price was right:))) Anyway I do like the system, it has everything I need, including ports, bluetooth, DVD/Cd, HDMI port, and the little research I did on budget friendly laptops, it has EVERYTHING!!! So instead of being QUICK, FAST, and in a HURRY, I would say it's just quick. However if your looking for just basic computing needs this suits the bill. It is nice for the price, but I have a need for S-P-E-E-D!!!! Should you get one??? YES:) I'm I critical?? YES!!!:))

I liked the price available on the Toshiba laptop for my grandson, and this is the second one I have ordered in the past 45 days. The first I picked up within hours of the order; this one was confusing. I was told there was a slight delay in picking it up, then got an e-mail that it may take two weeks to get it to the store; later the same day received an e-mail that the laptop was ready for pick-up. I came close to cancelling the order because of the confusion. I did notice that the specs on the Best Buy website for this laptop were not the same listed on the Toshiba package, i.e., CPU processor 2.5 gig on Best Buy site, but 2.15 on the Toshiba product - very misleading.

Laptop is good - Windows 8 sucks!

The laptop is okay and still works even after our 4 year-old's constant gaming usage. The only major issue I encounter is the function key (Fn). On this particular laptop it is very inconvenient to use any of the F1 to F12 in combination with the alt key (for example) as you need to additionally use this Fn key, making it a total of three and not two keys being pressed simultaneously. The battery is also not that great. The worst thing about the laptop, however is Windows 8 (8.1). For the first time in my life, I am seriously considering the switch to Mac. I wish I could have gotten an older OS with the laptop. DON'T GET WINDOWS 8.X!!!

    Fairly Priced System

Bought for work -- not to play. System was fully functional out of the box and is worth the price. PRO: Battery life is exceptional. I run multiple Office 2013 pro and Viso apps and programs -- including Outlook -- for up to 6 or more hours per day and have yet to get a battery warning. Bluetooth and Wifi are on at all times. Performance is acceptable considering RAM & CPU. CON: Have never had a system delivered with as much unneeded and vulnerable software as this device was. Had to install MalWareBytes and CCleaner to get control and functionality of the laptop -- especially the browsers.

Got this laptop to stop some of the fighting in my house over the other computer. It has actually turned out to be the better of my laptops and at half the price. We do not game on our laptop so it has never been an issue about speed it surfs the web great loads fast and was easy for my not so Tec savy signifacant other to learn. It does all the task we need very well. Overall a great pick up for my house hold. On a side note if you are not windows 8 ready you might wana read up with out a touch screan it can be a little tricky.

it is not a high end pc, its Ram capacity is limited to 4GB, perfect for a first pc, basic usage, internet surfin, basic homeworks, perfect for a student, not recommended for those who expect to play high definition games, this is for basic performance, has a powerful intel processor; may be helpful at an office too, another cons; it is limited to use windows 8, you cant downgrade using any other operative system; such as windows7 , it would run smoothly on 7 but dont know why is tied to run win 8, maybe because the drivers

This is an excellent laptop for the price. I even bought 2, since they were on sale for $199.99. After using 10% coupons from the Post Office, it made this an especially good deal. Anyways, as far as the computer goes, it does basic computing very well. Sure, its a little sluggish at times, but just give it a sec and it'll catch up. Windows 8.1 still isn't the best OS around, but it runs fairly well on this unit. So far it has done everything I've thrown at it, with minimal headache. Definitely a great purchase.

The screen is large. I like the way the laptop is slim. One of the only toshiba laptop I seen with a cd/dvd compartment that was already installed in the computer. I went from a desktop to the laptop. It was different but very easy for me to learn. It's something I would recommend to people that I know. I was told it might not be slow but its definitely not.

Entry level computer that does everything I need. Processor works fast for all my needs. Windows 8.1 is still not as user friendly as it should be but it is a lot better than when first introduced. Only problem I have with the computer itself is with the touchpad. It is the same color as the computer and blends in and is difficult to locate. There is little or no lip to sense when you are trying to locate it by touch.

My new Toshiba had difficulty going online at first , but the problem was resolved with better a better modem. The Toshiba has proven to be an excellent basic computer for all my needs. I was glad it came with the disk drive. I was not happy when Best Buy lowered the in store price $50 one month after I purchased the laptop online.

I use a laptop only for running Quicken, for personal and business accounting, but the Asus I had been using for 4 years, had a hard-disk failure. This Toshiba is a quick and simple replacement. Working well. (All my "heavy-duty" computing [PhotoShop, Video Editing, Powerpoint presentations, etc.] is done on my 27" iMac.) This particular model is fine for my needs - but, if I really wanted to replace a primary computer, I would have purchased a more robust machine.

Buy this team for their technical characteristics. I can say that has responded well, however, I have the problem that every time you disconnect the mouse, the touchpad stops working. For the rest, it works quite well and the fact HDMI, USB 3.0, CD / DVD is wonderful ports. It's my first Toshiba ... and is slowly gaining my confidence.

Great computer for the price. Same Specs as my old Gateway, but seems to run a little slower. No Office included, but Office Online for free is sufficient for me. Windows 8 - SUCKS! I just hate Windows 8. May be tainting my opinion of this computer a tad! Comes with lots of extras installed on the desktop: entertainment apps; social networking, Norton; etc. But very easy to delete what you don't want. Overall, happy with my purchase. :)

Have had this for about a month and it has worked fine so far. We only use it for basic things such as Microsoft Office and the internet, so, I can't say much about playing games or watching shows. Love the big screen and the 10-key. Only downside is that it runs Windows 8, but was able to easily reconfigure it to look more like an older version. Otherwise, great buy for the money.

I bought this laptop for my mom after getting the Toshiba Satellite 15.6" Laptop AMD A6Series 4GB Memory 750GB Hard Drive C55D-A5108 for myself. It is much thinner and sleeker looking than mine. She says the battery life isn't that great. Also, windows 8 is tricky to use for this computer novice. That being said, I don't think there is anything better on the market for a beginner and the price was perfect for us.

I really love this laptop! When connected to the internet it runs super fast. It connects to my external device really fast. The only issue I have is that for some reason the laptop is starting to run slow. One minutes its fast then the next its slow. Sometimes is disconnects from the wifi when I haven't even moved from the same spot.

I have had excellent experiences with Toshiba laptops. I have had this one for over 7 months and it has continued to be reliable. It is nothing special aside from the fact that it runs properly and carriea out its specified functions. The only con os the mouse. I found it to be annoying. This was easily fixed by purchasing a wireless one. Definitely the best, I have encountered, for that price range.

I love Toshiba products, though this computer is not the top of the line. It is good, but often crashes when overloaded. The price was low, so I should of expected some glitches. Good for the price. Next time I will spend more money for better quality. I will continue buying Toshiba products.

I like this computer, I'm a Dell fan but found this to be a perfectly acceptable alternative. As with all PCs, it comes with a ton of manufacturer software that I chose to remove. However, I am not a fan of Windows 8, I don't dislike it as much as I did Vista, but I'm still not a fan. Other than my personal issues with the operating system, the laptop works like a dream.
