I think the one i got was a lemon. The updates and bios did not get set up right and I had to return it from day 1 and it could not be restored!
No wonder the model was "cancelled or deleted" from Best Buy's Inventory, likely the Geek Squad was tired of seeing them returned!
Went back to HP brand, never have problems with my HP computers or the more expensive Dell's either!

I wonder if you could share any details about the symptoms you experienced that led you to believe that the BIOS wasn't set up correctly. Also, please let us know to which updates you were referring -- possibly Windows updates?
In any case, sorry if your unit was defective. This model is actually still available from Best Buy with, as of 8/31/15 an average star-rating of 4.2 and 89% of reviewers saying that they would recommend it to a friend.

Was loving this laptop until the screen decided to stop working after 5 weeks of gentle usage. Sent it back to Toshiba for repairs and they've had it for close to 3 weeks. Very disappointed in Toshiba and will likely never purchase another product from them again.

I wonder what you meant by "has not worked" and whether or not you're able to even turn it on. For the sake of being able to offer a troubleshooting suggestion, I'll assume for now that you can turn it on and recommend performing a Windows Reset to restore the Windows installation to original condition, which will eliminate any problem that may have been introduced by software installations or Windows configuration changes. The Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 has more details and step-by-step instructions for that process.

So far this is an excellent laptop/tablet...I switched from an ASUS laptop top running an older Intel processor (2.4GHz)...the Toshiba is markedly faster (of course). The screen is very nice and the touchscreen (which I didn't necessarily want to begin with, but now love) is very easy to use. The sound is great as are the graphics for gaming (Sims and Civ, nerdy I know). Setup was easy, the computer starts up quickly and resumes from sleep mode quickly as well.
One word of advice, when connecting to your home Wifi you should check ahead of time what type of router you're using. I have an older router (from AT&T) that uses 802.11 b exclusively. The network adapter on this one is 802.11 AC, which is great and it is backward compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n....however, if you're using a router that is exclusively a or b then you may need to go into your hardware settings/Device manager -> network adapter -> properties -> Advanced and change the band preference from default to the band with which your router runs on...for mine it was 802.11 b...before doing this I could not connect to the Wifi. This isn't a knock on the computer, just an inconvenience if you're using an older router.

Absolute Gem

Much more impressed than I expected to be. I swore off Toshiba years ago after a previous laptop, but after I got into a computer-based field I realized how poorly I treated it and decided to give Toshiba another shot.
First thing that stuck out was the design. It is very elegant and the photos online do not do it justice. That along with the backlit keyboard and the 2-in-1 design, this model is a big eye catcher in the office and out and about. On top of that it has the perfect size for working, most other 2-in-1's are too small for me to be productive and enjoy my movies and games. Speaking of games, even though the graphics card is integrated, it does work fairly well on Steam games. Skyrim, for example, was on high quality just fine, and ultra quality is where the drop in FPS became more noticeable, which is better than I expected. Sitting side by side with my old 720p laptop, I never noticed how much difference there was in the resolution till this. In the Tablet fold, I feel it is too big and bulky, but I am enjoying the Presentation and Audience folds where you use just the touchscreen without having to hold it at the same time. Battery is great too, 7-8 hours in eco mode and about 4-5 hours in high performance mode (of course that can vary depending on the programs that are being used). It comes with some bloatware but definitely not as much as my last HP laptop did. The fans on this model are also very quiet, most times I don't hear anything at all, even with my ear up against it. The hinges on this model are metal, so I don't expect any problems arising with constant use.
If you are looking for a laptop that performs very well and has beauty and versatility, this is definitely a steal for the price.

I was excited to take this laptop home because I've had good luck with Toshiba Satellite brand in the past. Big mistake as it took forever to boot up and the wifi connection was extremely slow even when setting it next to the router. The wifi was working fine on my other laptop so I knew it wasn't ISP or router. I called Toshiba Customer Service and they wanted $99 before they would help me. As I wasn't about to pay $99, I researched and found there is a known issue with the network card with this particular model. Buyer beware!! I returned it and exchanged it for another brand without any hassles but its not as good as my former Toshiba laptop.

Wifi worked only sometimes. Keyboard would randomly work. Sent to Toshiba for repair and they sent back without fixing either. Now they want me to send it in again. 10 day turn around. I will never buy a Toshiba ever agin!!!

Since both of the symptoms you mention were intermittent (happened sometimes but worked fine other times), it may be that the repair depot was not able to reproduce the symptoms.
I'd like to bring this issue to the attention of depot repair management for follow up with the technician who looked at your system, if you would like to share the Toshiba Case Number. Also, if you can provide any specific details about the symptoms, especially if there's any way you know of to induce a problem, that could be very helpful.

Don't even think about buying this or any other Toshiba. There is a epidemic of broken hinges. Toshiba says this is not under warranty because it is broken, even though the warranty say it is unless it is misuse. They claim that opening and closing it is misuse. It is a design flaw that they refuse to fix. The wiring runs through the right hinge and it often breaks, sometimes within two weeks. Mine lasted six months. Look on the internt, they have already had one class action suit that they had to settle, but they haven't fixed the problem.

Toshiba's Standard Limited Warranty covers all defects in parts & workmanship, including hinges. If you were told by a Toshiba representative that opening and closing your laptop is misuse that would be, of course, incorrect and patently absurd.
I suggest calling support back at 800-457-7777 and asking to be escalated to Customer Service to have your case reviewed further.

Poor Tech Support

Called Toshiba for Tech Support sine my computer was only 8 months old and still under warranty.. After a couple of hours on line they had be reload the software from their site. The reload made the computer operate worse than before. After another couple f hours on the phone they informed me that for $100 they could fix my computer. They made it worse then wanted me to pay to get it fixed. I would not recommend nor buy another Toshiba product
