Not incredible but I guess it does the job. I don't find it to be easy to use I have trouble setting up things on this I guess I'm just an H.P. person. but then I guess you actually need to know how to use a computer to complain. For the price (cheap) it does what I need it to.

Beautiful lightweight laptop & long battery life!

I used to have a 17 inch desktop replacement laptop (HP ENVY) and I learned my lesson after having to lug it and its brick of an AC adapter everywhere. It eventually died on me so I did my due diligence and spent about a week researching laptops. As a computer science student pursuing a career in web development, armed with a low budget, I had these factors to consider: 1. Battery Life 2. Thickness / Weight 3. Processing Power Now usually, when shopping at a budget you'd have to make a compromise and only choose two out of those three. For me, it came down to two laptops, this, or the somewhat similarly-specced Asus Q551LN which had a dedicated GeForce 840m graphics card at the cost of being thicker and having a shorter battery life. My compromise was to lose a dedicated graphics processor for a thinner, lighter laptop with substantially longer battery life. Don't get me wrong, the Toshiba's integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 can still hold it's own though. I'd consider it about a tier lower than the GeForce. As long as you're not a heavy gamer, or if your hobby/job doesn't require a dedicated graphics card (like HD video editing), then this will fit the bill perfectly. Design: In my eyes, this brushed aluminum-finished laptop screams beauty. You can definitely tell that Toshiba really cared about the design of this laptop - I'd suggest going to your local Best Buy and checking it out in person as pictures don't really do it justice. It's also light (I can carry it with one hand) and very thin - almost ultrabook-like. Touchscreen: It's IPS touchscreen looks great but at certain angles it will look a little dim. Touch response is as responsive as it gets, and I like the little detail of having the Windows icon on the screen's front panel act as "Start Button" when you press it - it even gives you vibration feedback! Keyboard/Trackpad: I have no qualms with the keyboard - I'm using it as I type this review. I also like how they decided to fit in a keypad as well. Its trackpad is very responsive as well. I care a lot about trackpads and feel that they are a very underrated feature of a laptop in general - I feel that trackpads could make or break a laptop. I tried a lot of different laptop trackpads at Best Buy and felt that this one was up there as far as the overall feeling of pointer control goes. Gestures, like two-finger scrolling work smoothly as well. Now, this isn't a Macbook trackpad but I can say that I'm VERY happy with Toshiba's trackpad. Sound: Sound quality is AMAZING. Harman Kardon is a brand respected by audiophiles alike so the fact that they made the built-in speakers should speak volumes about how they sound. I've personally have never heard sound quality like this come out of a laptop's built-in speakers before. Very crisp highs and warm mids, and it also happens to have just enough low response to be able to hear bass hits. I recommend you listen to it in person at Best Buy! WiFi: I know the last version of this laptop (P55W-B224) was plagued with WiFi speed and connectivity problems as it used the Intel AC 7260 wireless card. This newer version has an Intel AC 7265 wireless card, and have had no problems whatsoever with it. Battery Life: Holy cow, battery life is AMAZING! At the lowest brightness setting & while doing light web browsing, I was able to draw around 8 hours of battery life. There was a point where it said 12 hours, but there's no way that could be true, haha. Even the specs say "Up to 10." I can say that I'm EXTREMELY happy with the decision of picking out this laptop. 5 stars all around! In general, before purchasing a laptop make sure to do a ton of research through reviews on several different websites as well as looking through forums before making your decision. I'd also recommend going into the store and feeling out the laptop's screen, keyboard, trackpad, and sound (if that matters to you) in person to see if you are really happy with it. And if you wind up don't liking it after a few days, don't forget that you could always return it and give something else a test run.

Originally, I LOVED this laptop. It had all the features I wanted plus some. My only issue with the computer is that I cannot access the battery, yet I'm having battery issues. I've had this computer for about a month and it already says "battery not detected". I called best buy who wouldn't fix it, then talked to toshiba and everything they said to do didn't work. When I informed them of that, they weren't willing to do anything else. The computer still works fine, I can use it while plugged in or not, but I never know how much battery life I have left because of this issue so my computer will randomly die and I will lose my work. I wouldn't recommend this computer to anyone. Not worth the money it cost me.

Thank you for the review, McKenzie, and sorry to hear about the battery detection problem on your Satellite Radius P55W-B5112.

Since you have already spoken with tech support and their suggestions didn't solve the problem, the next step in the process should have been to help you with warranty repair arrangements. I don't know why that didn't happy but encourage you to call Customer Service at 800-457-7777 to discuss. They will have access to records of your previous call and will be able to pick up where the prior contact left off.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba
