Hey I got my router today December 22,2024, but it was delivered infront of the house and was not in the delivery protection box “Brown box”. Anyone could steal if it is not inside the delivery packaging box. I am disappointed.

      Hi Maximus,

Thank you for your review. If you haven't already done so, please check your modem's status LEDs when the Internet drops to verify whether it may be related to the Internet source signal. If the modem remains stable during the drop, please ensure your router's firmware is fully up to date, and try swapping the Ethernet cable to rule out a defective cable.

Additionally, we suggest contacting our official TP-Link support team using the Support Portal on our official website here, and they'll gladly assist you: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/contact-technical-support/

Bought this march 8th 2023. It’s already dropping the WiFi connection to devices constantly. The only thing I’ve had good connection with is things plugged directly into it. I’ve also noticed a drop in internet speed. I’ve checked the modem and it’s fine. Can only attribute it to the router going bad.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. It sounds like your modem's MAC (Media Access Control) binding needs to be released and renewed so it can provide an IP address (and Internet) to the Router. This can typically be done using the following steps:

      1. Unplug the power from both your router and cable modem
      2. Unplug the coax cable from the modem
      3. Re-connect power ONLY to your cable modem
      4. Wait until the cable modem is fully booted, then re-connect coax
      5. Re-connect power to the router and connect it to the modem via Ethernet

This process should release and renew the MAC binding so your modem can provide connectivity to the router. If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our toll-free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

Set up is a nightmare. After getting it dialed in random devices show up on the network. Login somehow no longer works and you have to reset the system. Not worth the time at all. And the 14 day return policy isn't nearly long enough.

Bugs in clients lists and adding to ACL

    Posted .

I have mixed feelings about this router. The most important things like signal strength and speed have been good. But there are administration issues that caused me to drop the rating by two stars. The two most bothersome are: 1) New devices added to the Whitelist under Advanced - Security - Access Control are usually not recognized until the router is rebooted. All other routers I've had including other TP-Link routers have not required a reboot. 2) Browser interface is inconsistent, does not accurately reflect the actual devices that are connected, and cannot be trusted to be accurate. The device/ client list can be seen in two locations: Network Map - Connected Clients and Advanced - Network - DHCP Server - DHCP Client List. Both lists show 18 connected devices, but there are actually 21 devices connected. I found 16 devices common to both list, 2 devices unique to each list, and 1 device that is completely missing in both lists. Router is updated to the lastest firmware 1.0.5 Build 20200216 rel.72186(5553).
