The device looks good at first and the companion app was very nice to use. The problems start after. I had lots of problems with internet when connecting throught his device and often times just a completely dead signal, even over Ethernet. At other times when it was working, speeds would be near 5 mbps while the ISP modem would get me about 200 mbps. Overall, the device is easy to set up and the app is intuitive and nice, but it is not very reliable

Would give it zero if i could. More difficult to set up than it should be. Took 5 tryes to get it to connect. Not nearly as fast as my 8 year old Asus also has less range in my house than the Asus. Would return if I could. Have old and new routers nearly side by side and tp link 5g run half the speed as the Asus on my tablet. Dont buy.

Unreliable 2.4GHz wifi and reboots during load

I purchased this router to replace an TP-Link Archer C9 that worked flawlessly for years until one day it just stopped for no apparent reason. I was expecting this newer model to be an upgrade, but it's been a disappointment. The router has all the features I need and more, but it reboots randomly at the worst times (during conference calls) and the 2.4GHz Wifi just stops working randomly until it is disabled and re-enabled, or the whole router rebooted. All my smart home appliances and wifi printer connect to the 2.4GHz wifi, so it is VERY annoying when this happens. I have installed 2 firmware updates already. The most recent one promised to help with the reboots (it is a known issue), but then the 2.4GHz wifi issues started. I am considering returning it, but I can't be without a router for long because I work from home.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. To ensure the best possible signal, it's important to make sure placement is as optimal as possible. In modern network environments it is common for neighboring 2.4GHz wireless networks to overlap, causing WiFi congestion and interference. By changing the 2.4GHz wireless channel you can improve wireless signal strength, bandwidth, and range. Please take a moment to look over our FAQ on changing the wireless channel: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2292.html

To ensure optimal performance of your wireless router please check, and if needed, update its firmware using the steps outlined in our FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2139.html

If you would like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. The TP-Link Archer AX20 is a Wi-Fi 6 router designed to connect with your existing Internet source (e.g., your modem) via Ethernet cable, in order to provide your home with Dual-Band, AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. If your Internet Service company already provided you with a Wi-Fi router, or Wi-Fi gateway, then you may not need an additional router - unless you require extra Wi-Fi coverage or particular features.

If you are ever unsure of whether a product is right for your specific networking needs, our TP-Link Support Team is always happy to help answer any questions you may have about our products. Please feel free to reach out using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

This is a traditional router. Control is not cloud based. You can control it through the Tether app and it can create a cloud-based remote access through that app, but that is only an optional setup for remote control. It is not a requirement on traditional routers. TP-Link routers offer no more security risk then any other manufacturer. Worked most of the time. Intermittently, I could not get internet to my PC or my laptop using either WiFi or ethernet. After trying contact with TP-Link help desk and various resets to PC and laptops over 3+ months, I eventually gave up and bought another router...this time from Netgear...so far so good. Waiting so long pushed me out of the return window so lesson learned for me.

Awful experience. I bought one unit from Best Buy and one of the same model from Amazon. Both died within a day of setup and because they were bought in advance of service needed, I could no longer return to store and needed to deal with TP-Link's slow replacement process. I've been without internet now for close to two weeks. Worried that the replacement unit being sent could have the same thing happen to it. Save your money and time.
